  1. Hi all! My GLX 892c broke today.. 😕 Looking to replace it. A bit of a bummer that they did drop the 892c from the line up. Which would be the natural replacement? * 852c * 902c * 893c I was throwing anything from a 1/8oz ned rig to a 5inch senko on the 892c. Thanks!
  2. There are usually 15% off coupons available.
  3. Does this work with the additional coupon?
  4. Check the final receipt. I think some companies (such as Daiwa) do not allow retailers to give 'official' discounts. But in my experience TW has honored the discounts on Daiwa (and others) in the past. They might have changed though. They changed their website, which was not for the best either, imo. Me as somebody that works in tech and has designed and build some web applications in the past, I have to say that their new website design makes the search and buying experience soo much worse. Wish they had a way to return to the old website design... 😕
  5. I had used the NRX 804c with great success for skipping activities from the kayak! If the GLX shares the same rod characteristics, I would definitely recommend it!
  6. I agree with the previous comments that this reel is an absolute gem! You can get these for well below $200 through various Japanese websites. It is smooth, cast anything from 1/8- 1 oz pretty well and also palms pretty nicely! Line capacity is the only downside to the reel that I can see, which can partially be overcome through braid to leader adjustments. .I have mine on the NRX 852c and it is well balanced, capable combo!!
  7. Thanks again all! I wanted to throw in two rods that I am also considering. 1. Xtasy 754c 2. Conquest 903c Anybody with experience/opinions on those? Thanks again!
  8. Thanks all for the inputs so far! The 873crr has definitely crossed my mind! So has the Conquest 903c. This rod seems a bit more powerful than the 893c. Anybody with comparison points? The 904 might be too powerful and would overlap too much with the Steez BC that I already have. Thanks for the suggestion! What reel have you paired it up with to throw the keitech comfortably? I would think that the 844 is a bit too powerful for what I am intending. Anybody have a comparison between the 873c and the conquest 844c?
  9. Hi all, I am looking to get some informed opinions from you all! I have been fishing my NRX+ 893c for quite a while now and while I think it is a great rod, I often feel like I could use a bit more power when I am throwing a 3/8oz texas rigged plastic in some light grass. Hence, I decided to look for alternatives. Needs: * Would like to be able to throw anything from a 1/4oz Texas rig to a 3/8oz Texas rig where the bottom has some medium vegetation (nothing like pitching into cover though) * It would be great to have a taper that would also allow the occasional moving bait (paddle tail, small chatterbaits) * What I would also appreciate in a new rod would be a bit more leader friendly guides. The recoil guides are just a bit annoying at times. I am planning to user 30# braid to 12/14# FC * Great warranty is a must, since I bank fish quite a bit and there is always a risk of something breaking * Would like to stay within the same length, but dont mind if it is a few inches shorter/longer Context: * I have the Steez BC 1 that I am using for anything 1/2oz and a multiple Medium (light) rods for 1/4oz and below techniques * Would most likely be pared with a Steez A (Steez SV spool) * No budget limitation at this point (I do not prefer custom rods though) Looking forward to your suggestions! Thanks!
  10. I have both the 2018 Antares DC MD as well as the 2023 version. Also most of the high end reels from Shimano and Daiwa. Yes, these reels can be used for other techniques besides swimbaits. I would say that they shine with anything above 3/4oz lures. Would I buy the MD for the techniques you listed? Probably not. I would go with the Stress A or even the Conquest 200xg.
  11. Looks like the guide just popped out of the wrapping. You should be able to fix that yourself.
  12. +1 on that suggestion. This rod is surprisingly sensitive for the price. I am usually a guy that fishes only high end rods. This rod is in my rotation for swimbaits and chatterbaits!
  13. Yeah, in the same boat. As a California resident I was able to get the next day shipping if I ordered before 11am the prior day. Now, shipping is slow (I can get stuff (like reels) quicker from Japan or Malaysia, where I dont have to pay sales tax and the prices are much more attractive!) and I still have to pay sales tax! I gave that feedback to TW, but they did not seem to care. Unfortunately a clear case of "they got too big and comfortable". So, I will use Omnia for all the little 'tackle refills' from now on.
  14. Hi there! Thanks for the compliment. Though, I am not sure that I would see it as a thread that started out with the intent to be a review. As you said, some time has passed since I started this thread and many more $$$ have been invested in reels from Shimano and Daiwa. My overall favorite do-it-all favorite reel remains the Daiwa Steez SV TW. It is closely followed by a Steez A with the Steez SV's spool in it. Generally I am a big fan of the this platform and have, besides two Steez SV TWs, a Steez A, another 3 Morethans. They all would make great moving baits (excelling at slightly different lure weights). One of my Steez SV TWs is actually on my square bill rod. On my dedicated chatterbait rod I use a 201XH Calcutta Conquest. Not as smooth as the Steez' but just wanted to try something new. Another sleeper reel for that technique (for a much smaller price) is the Daiwa Coastal TW 200. Lots of options out there. Not all great options have to cost a lot of money. I personally favor Daiwa over Shimano for most applications, since I am happy to give up a little bit of distance (honestly have not experienced any loss in distance - but might still be possible) to get better control, higher flexibility (with spools) and just (for me) better ergonomics. Tide lines!
  15. Yeah, I thought about this rod as well. Ended up ordering a Dobyns 807. I prefer the full handle a bit more of the Dobyns and the warranty is also better imo, which might come in handy, since I will be using this rod for some rock fish fishing as well.
  16. Good question! It's more for convenience. I think that I probably will not be happy with he balance or the power of the shorter rods. So might need to get a longer rod after all ?
  17. Thanks for the suggestion. This seems like a good entry level rod. I am probably looking for a rod that is in the 200-350 USD price range. Thanks again!
  18. Thanks Tom. I would love to stay under the 7'5 length (if possible).
  19. Hi all, I am looking for a short swimbait rod that would allow me to throw 6-9 inch softbait swimbaits. Focus would be on the 7-8 inch type (8'' Huddleston). Thanks for your suggestions! Cheers, Seb.
  20. Daiwa Coastal 200 TW. I have (had) all the high end bait caster from Daiwa and Shimano. The Coastal, for the money, is hard to beat. Cast everything from 1/4 to 7 oz with the right rod.
  21. Agreed with Fishtank here. I had mine on the NRX852c for a long time. It serves now on the Legit Design Rod 6'6ML. I can truly trow BFS lures with the reel. I would not use it for pitching activities where true hauling power is needed.
  22. Hi, I have the 7'3h as well and it is a great rod for the money. It is great at frogging, can throw heavier chatterbaits well aaaand it is really sensitive!!! I have Steez, ÑRX and megabass rods for my bottom contact activities, but the Okuma is 85% as sensitive for 1/4 of the price. I really like this rod a lot!!!
  23. I would check out Omnia. Sign up to be a premium member (you get 10% in rewards) and then use code First15 to get 15% off on the reel.
  24. I like the Steez on it, since I have the Steez SV spool in it and can skip like a champ with the combo as well, which helps when I want to get a jig into a tide spot. Skipping with anything but a SV spool has been a pain in the butt for me, so not sure if I can switch to another reel here.
  25. I am running a Steez A 8.1:1 on it right now and I actually think it is fairly well balanced. What are you using?
