  1. Actually if I could find a solution that just replaces the handle knobs that would be the best solution. Not sure if that is possible though..
  2. In the market for a crankbait combo. Not seeing any sales/deals right now. Any idea when the next one might be coming up? THanks.
  3. Thanks for your answer. Do you have any recommendations on rods?
  4. Hi all, I finally want to invest in a dedicated crankbait rod that I can throw deep divers on (15+ feet). I have been throwing them on my MH 7 foot rod with a 7:1 metanium but I after throwing just for 30mins I am totally exhausted and my elbow hurts (also feel like the Metanium gets to its limits). Since I am not throwing Cranks that often, I want to invest in a good budget set up. For the Reel I was planning to get the https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Abu_Garcia_Revo_Winch_LP_Casting_Reels/descpage-RWINSC.html?from=basres So, now for the rod. I held a glass rod some months ago and I was a bit shocked how noodly, heavy and thick that rod was (cant remember the brand though). Is Glass still the way to go? I would prefer a rod with a longer handle. Price point under 200 USD. Thanks all again. Cheers!
  5. Hi all, I have a Daiwa Coastal and a Lew's BB2 Inshore that I love for all but the knob handles. I would like to replace them but I am not sure what handles will fit them, since I am assuming the handles are model specific? I am wondering how I would approach this and where I could also find handles that do not brake the bank and give a good quality. I feel like if I am spending 80 USD on a handle I rather buy a new reel... THanks. Cheers, Seb.
  6. I reached out to Dobyns and they are actually suggesting the Dobyns Champion XP Full Cast Rod 7'4" Heavy 744. They said that the backbone is better on this rod for Jigs but still a good chatter/ spinnerbait
  7. You put your money in a boat, other put a friction of this into their gear. I have an almost 1000 USD combo that get through the woods with if necessary to reach a spot. All about prios
  8. I actually prefer a stiffer rod for the applications that I want to use it for. I have 2 MH rods already that I am using for crankbaits and topwaters. I a bit more backbone will help me to better set the hook on the single hook baits.
  9. Sounds like an interesting rod! So St. Croix Legend Elite Casting Rod 7' Med Hvy vs Dobyns DC734 F/H Pros and Cons as I can see it: Legend seems to have higher quality components a longer handle (which I also prefer). What are the advantages of the Dobyns? Thanks!
  10. Thanks guys. That is the conundrum: 1st: The DC 734 FH seems to be a great rod, but is it distinguished enough from my other MH rods - I prefer more of a backbone (similar to what my Avid what providing). 2nd: Go with the Dobyns (=260 USD) or go with the upgrade program for St.Croix and get the Legend Extreme (=270 USD). First world problems...
  11. Thanks again. Unfortunately it is very unlikely that I will be able to make the trip any time soon. 'Stuck' in the Bay Area
  12. Thanks guys! Will keep my eyes open. Since a rod broke yesterday, the money needs to move to the rod replacement anyways. Lets see one day..
  13. This is good advice! My arsenal before Saturday looked as follows: Spinning: Abu Garcia Villain 2.0 Medium Light and Abu Revo Inshore (good set up for finesse) G. Loomis E6X Casting Rod 6'8" Med Hvy with Lew's Lew's Team Pro Speed Spool (Jerkbaits, Ned Rig and Wacky Rig) St. Croix Avid X Series Cast Rod 7' Med Hvy with Abu Garcia Revo Rocket (Jigs and small single hook swimbaits) Daiwa Steez XT Casting Rod 7'1" Heavy with Antares DC (Mainly lipless crankbaits and small lipped cranks, used it for spinnerbaits as well but did not like it as much since the rod has not enough power to set the hook) Bass Pro Shops Extreme 7'0'', Medium heavy, Action: fast with Metanium MGL (Use for small to medium topwater and larger crankbaits) Okuma Scott Martin TCS Casting Rod 7'11" Heavy, Lure Weights: 1/4-2oz with Daiwa Coastal (Glide baits and big top water) I think I would like to make the following changes: Combo 4 should be a dedicated lipless crankbait set up, I would use the Abu Revo Rocket instead in order to be able to burn the lure over grass Combo 3 make a dedicated Jig, Spinnerbait and single hook swimbait combo with Antares Having said all of this, I am wondering if the Dobyns Champion XP Full Cast Rod 7'3" Heavy 734 is not too similar to the Daiwa and and Bass Pro. I would prefer a bit more backbone. The Daiwa and Bass Pro are more Medium power than as their rated Medium-Heavy. Hope that makes sense
  14. Thanks Tom for your reply! Is this the one: Dobyns Champion XP Full Cast Rod 7'3" Heavy 734 Just wondering what I should do with the broken Avid. St. Croix's replace program is nice (otherwise I would kind of throw 140 USD away) I like the Dobyns. Seems like a great choice. Just wondering what to to with the St. Croix
  15. Hi all, I broke my St.Croix Avid X (AXC70MHF) yesterday. Looking to replace it and want to use the chance to consolidate a couple of techniques (Jig-Spinnerbait-Chatterbait and smaller single hook swimbaits). I liked the Avid X but want to go for a full grip handle this time. What is important to me: * Weight (should be 4.6oz or lighter) * Length should be 7 feet - 7'4 * Durability (I am a bank fisherman and I sometimes have to get through thick woods to get to my spot) * Sensitivity: important (more for the Jigs usage) * Price: have not decided yet but the total cost should be within 300 bucks * Planning it to use with a 2016 Antares DC and 14 pound fluro I am playing with the idea to use the St.Croix Gold program and get the St. Croix Legend but those rods seem to be heavier than the Avid - X, how come?) Looking forward to hear your recommendations! Thanks again!
  16. I had the chance to play a bit around with a SV105 while fishing on Saturday, I compared the reel against my Lew's Team Pro Speed Spool. Long story short. I was very disappointed in the Daiwa. Not only could I throw a light Ned rig (1/8) faster with the Lew's it was also much more effortless. Also got a could amount of backlashes with the SV. So, I am going to stick with the Lew's as my semi-finesse baitcaster and continue to use Spinning for super finesse. Thanks for all your guys' input. Thanks
  17. Thanks for your reply. What line have you set up for the reel?
  18. Cool! HAve you tried the Aldebaran before? What are you mainly using the reel for, what are the list of cons and pros that you would list? Thanks for your input!
  19. I like the fact that the SV105 can officially be used for the salt as well. The Aldebaran is eligble as well according to the website here http://fish.shimano.com/content/sac-fish/en/home/products/fishing-reels/baitcast/aldebaran.html The MGX Extreme is not. I am wondering if it is worth to pay another 100 USD to get the Aldebaran over the SV105...
  20. Hi all, I am looking for a finesse baitcaster, that I can also use in the salt every now and then. Following options are on the table: https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-RLCDAIWA.html?from=basres https://japanlureshop.com/abu-revo-mgxt ... 14221.html https://japanlureshop.com/shimano-15-al ... -9213.html Use would be: Weightless worms, Wacky rigs, Ned rigs, Small Jigs and Small jerkbaits Thoughts are welcome! Thanks!
  21. Does 'the other site' have a 4th sale?
