Man, I just found a place up here that has it! It is a Texas bqq joint and the owner is from east Texas. I almost never eat when I am fishing, I have a big breakfast and power through the day.

The toothpicks worked! I do want to get some sort of tool I can keep in my tackle bag. I have had normal screws that were tightened by a dry, warm thumb that were a bear to get loose with a wet, cold thumb, so I want to have a tool of some sort.

Yea, I bought a used Finesse Custom with a dead drag and the replacement was very very easy. The only tick is that the drag washers will be not be the same size as the old ones, but if you follow the instructions it is a really simple process so long as you keep everything in the right order and orientation.

The manual has a picture of a little tool that looks a bit like an old skate key, but I can't read any of the txt around it. I was thinking of trying toothpicks, but literally have only been able to find the tapered kind, not the round ones. My wife works in brass/copper/etc, I was going to try and see if she could turn down copper rod that would fit snugly. I was mainly worried about breaking a hard/impossible to replace part, but if it's not a huge deal I will try to diy it. I was looking at the SLP non-coats as well, but I the more I use the fatter Daiwa knobs that came on the SV103, the more I like them, so the idea of some larger non-coats is appealing too. Do the Hawgtech knobs fit on regular Daiwa handles?

Good to hear, I want some no-coat knobs on this guy; I picked up a GLX MBR783 for the Steez to live on. I figured if I was looking for an all-around rod, I might as well pony up for the classic. I have only had it out a few times and caught an embarrassingly small number of fish on it, but I am loving it so far. I have thrown a ton of different lures on it (maybe why I am not catching so much....) each trip and it really does great with everything. I would absolutely trade 2" of handle length for 2" more on the front, but other then that I have no complaints. I do need to find a key for the fancy brake dial screw on the Steez. It looks like a stake yet of some sort, but the part diagram does not list a number for it, so I have no idea what I am looking for. If anyone knows what size spanner key it takes, I would love to know.

Nice! For some reason I thought the Hawgtechs were thicker/rounder. Have you been happy with them?

What kind of knobs are those, they look flatter and wider the the I shapes?

The trick to this system is trying to determine via googleearth which retention ponds are surrounded by waist-high grass swarming with ticks and which ones have reasonable bank access. I don't mind fighting ticks if I know to expect them, but my fishing outfit changes dramatically depending on where I'm going.

Robos do float, but I feel like the different colors have a different buoyancy, with my limited experience being that the more transparent ones float better than the opaque and glitter-heavy ones. A weightless 6" Robo on a 1/0 Rebarb hook will slowly settle to the bottom with the tail floating maybe an inch or so up. Once the salt is gone they float up at maybe a 30-45d angle.

I had to swat a very aggressive goose with my rod tip this summer, it didn't seem too bothered by it, I think maybe I do need to up my game a little.

I am for sure going to buy too many of these things. I fish a DS and a Ned on the same combos, so having some plastics that will do double duty is irresistible. For some reason the Zman plastics have never produced for me on the dropshot, so maybe the Robos will work on the Ned.

I am actually kinda interested to know what that rod is made of. I can't think of what material that you could make a telescoping roud out of that would be that strong and flexible. I also now kinda want to go buy one and go tenkara fishing for huge sharks.

I have tried Owner Beasts, but I don't like them as they don't stay weedless very long. I also use Owner 5/0 Riggin' hooks, but don't like them as they don't seem to give the best hook-ups. I am thinking of just giving up on them.

A cheap set of digital calipers would let me measure into the thousands of a inch for turning the case necks when reloading rifle ammo. If I can find them among my shooting stuff I will try them on some line tonight. I have been a little curious about published vs actual thickness. I use Suffex briad and the jump in precived thickness between 10lb and 15lb braid seems way greater then then published measurements would suggest.

Yea, lack of super shallow access is the biggest flaw of the Propel system. You can flip it up, but it is in way a good bit.

Right now I either use a shapened wooded stake or a hand paddle and a lot of cussing. I hold my rod in my left hand and love being able to move and manuver while fighting a fish. I fish quite close to the bank when going for white perch and have had some near disasters when the wind blows me into overhanging branches. I have the parts to rig an anchor, but am still walffing on how to rig and place it.

I have a Slayer 10 and my only beef with it is that any wind gets it spinning very easily. That and the rudder control being very very challenging to switch to the right hand side, but that isnt really a flaw for most people.

Same for me. And then I was stupid/cocky and threw it on too light line too close to some pads and lost it. I only caught three bass on it but two were over 3lbs. I liked it enough that I might swap to a heavier rod to throw them better. Im gonna wait until black friday to buy more rats though.

Further confusing the issue are white perch, which are really a "bass". I live by the Chesepeak Bay and they are popular as both a game fish and as a table fish. We used to have a lot of yellow perch as well but over development created too much sediment runoff and the population crashed. Before I discovered freshwater bass (actualy a sunfish and iirc a "perch" as well) I was crazy for white perch fishing. With the right lures it's easy to catch a hundred in a day once they come up shallow.

I have done a little fussing with lead wire wrapped on swimbait style hooks to get small plastics to sink a bit faster in current. It works and I have gotten small stickbaits to keep a horizontal fall, but it took some time at home with a bucket of water to find the right amount of lead for a specfic plastic.

Bill, Look around your area for a disability rights lawyer. Most of them do a lot of pro bono work and it sounds like your problem could be solved by a polite letter informing the landowner of the law. If you are truly have the right to fish there a letter might be all it takes.

Yea, I feel the same way. I paid for the MLF site for a while, but it was too much money and like 90% of the other content didn't interest me at all. I would love to (and would pay) to watch pro fishing of any sort, but I have no interest in other sports/hunting stuff and paying for said content.

Yea, the lower weights seem more reasonable. I have a rod that will throw the 6.8 on a weighted hook, I might give them a try. Thanks for the info!

Uh, what coupon is this? As stated above, I have a rod that needs a bit more weight than a Ci4+ 2500 on it.

If it's a safty festure then how can I afford to not have one!
