  1. it could have been brought down here to Tennessee.... we don't have trailer registration here or titles on boats. All you need to get a boat registration is a bill of sale.... and the hull identification number. that being said I am going to be sure I keep locking my trailer on and off the truck hitch.
  2. I have replaced basically everything electrical on my 1979 Johnson 140 from ebay. It's a pretty good place to find original parts. Although, it may take some waiting to find what you are looking for.
  3. stopped at the Cabela's in Omaha Nebraska today and had a much better experience than yesterday. A larger selection for bass fishing I picked up some 7 inch Zoom trick worms in black ruby and watermelon with chartreuse tail Zoom super chunks for my chatterbait in black... I already have pumpkin and blue/black flake at home Havoc Craw Fattys in blue-black silver fleck and black-red fleck Carbela brand shaky heads 3/16 oz Johnson Beetle Spin to go crappie fishing with the other half I spent about $25, not bad.
  4. Don't have any of it recent. This is it when I bought it earlier this spring. Previous owner kind of neglected it, so I have spent a lot of time (and cash) working on it, but I've done all the work myself and its running perfectly now. I only paid a grand for it, so I can't really complain. I am going to have to install some new fish finders though and plan on reflooring, recarpeting and adding a bait well during the colder months this winter. The current fish finders are Humminbird Piranha Max 10s which are probably older than I am. I am planning on installing Garmin Echo 551 DVs. I also already installed the green LED lights to attract bait fish and night.. and they work amazingly. It's a 1990 Javelin 378 FS with a 1979 Johnson 140 hp v4. In fairly good shape, two working live wells stern and bow. Seats 5 but that would be rather crowded. I plan on removing the center seat in the rear and turning the area it's mounted over into a baitwell as well as making a step for the aft fishing platform.
  5. I was traveling across I-80 today on my way back home and stopped at Cabelas World Headquarters in Sidney Nebraska. Honestly, I was kind of disappointed. They really didn't have the selection I thought they would have and there were no aquariums full of fish that the other half and little one were excited about. I was wanting some 10 inch worms, shaky head weights (only thing they had I wanted, but over priced), tiny torpedoes and some drop shot weights. I would have assumed the "world's foremost outfitter" would have had all of those items, so I was very let down. I did end up buying some random stuff I got two Persuader buzzbaits. I have never used a buzzbait before so I am looking forward to it in a few weeks. I got a pack of 4 Shaky head weights ... the other two are on some worms ready to go some jig heads a Cabelas Dig-it Craw crankbait (6-10 feet) Berkley Flicker Minnow (18-23 feet) Berkley Flicker Shad (9-11 feet in blue growler Cabelas exclusive color) Berkley Flicker Shad (6-8 feet in firetiger) also not pictured, I am an Abu Garcia guy and back in the bargain bin I found an Abu Garcia 7 foot medium heavy rod that had been marked down from $99 to $49 took it to the counter and got it for $40. The other half loaded up on crappie stuff, shes loves fishing for crappie. Had an Elk meat sub on the way out so it turned out to be an alright day.
  6. Not bad. I was never a fan of the bass tracker boats until my cousin got one. I always preferred the larger fiberglass boats and then he bought his. He never has to worry about the transom rotting out, they are simple and easy to work on. We rewired all of the electronics on his in a matter of hours. I have already made up my mind that for my next boat I am going to go with an aluminum hull. I think you will enjoy it.
  7. This kind of thing happens all the time in tournaments around here.... My cousin/partner is not the type to let it go either. He will start casting his lures onto their boat like they were not even there, or pinging a jig off of their outboard. Probably not the best way to handle it but... it's kind of funny at times. They will get angry of course and shout, he never even acknowledges their presence.
  8. Cool pics I have been looking at upgrading the electronics the previous owner had on my boat when I bought it. Two Humminbird Piranha Max 10s. Forget being manufactured before I was born... I am pretty sure they were discontinued before I was born. I wish a few of you guys had included the name of the unit you were using with the photos.
  9. thats pretty.... excellent work I wish I could do something like that but I have no artistic ability what so ever. It would look like something out of a second grade art class.
  10. Same situation you are in, just bought a used boat earlier this spring and was having starting issues. My neighbor runs a small engine repair shop and he came over to help me get it going this past weekend. I had great compression but 1 cylinder was not firing due to a loose cable running to the coil pack from the power pack. Fixed that. Then we took the fuel lines and carbs off and noticed some build up. The previous owner had been using fuel with ethanol in it. A green/yellow wax had build up inside the fuel lines and in the fuel intakes on the carbs. We had to clean that out on the carbs and I just went ahead and replaced the fuel pump and fuel hoses leading from the pump to the carbs. Fires up great now.
  11. caught my first and only crappie a few weeks ago on the pond behind the house. We just stocked the pond with 100 channel cats, 50 bass, 50 crappie and already had hundreds of bluegill in it. I was surprised how much they had grown in just a few months. I caught him on these with a small jig head, picked them up from walmart.... the blue gill seem to love them to
