  1. it doesnt really matter however a superline ewg will help if you rig it weightless
  2. two major differences is how long they last and how smooth they are. its a big factor when using light line if your drag isnt smooth or something breaks in the reel, especially with big fish. i personally prefer Diawa and if its not a Daiwa its a Pfluger in my hands.
  3. 'Yea i have heard the same thing about the dobbyns rods. b/t those two definatly the loomis. I have a duckett white ice 7'3 heavy that i love for mag worms, jigs and flipping, if your looking for other options.
  4. you can also buy metal props or invest in a Minn Kota fortrex. also a lot of times there are boat trails alreadt, utilize those
  5. If I used greater than 6 pound test w/o current present would it affect my bites significantly? Worried about line breaking throwing it around cover when I hook into a giant.
  6. depends, a lot of times though its nice to be alone with your thoughts
  7. Lol ouch, it took me forever to learn to consistently boat the bigger fish that bit, but fishing out of a kayak with trebles is rough, I've lost a few nice smallies because of that. I tend to shy away from trebles because I've about lost some giants lol, sometimes its a necessary evil though. I don't use nets when fun fishing though, personal preference, if you wanna get better without them and the judgments as to when you need them though never reach for the net for a fish under 3, you've caught enough of those that its not something that'll haunt you the next week.
  8. You said your out in the Midwest so having never fished out there idk what your lakes are like. it is a good rod, I use the 7'3 mh vendetta that I use for that purpose. I also have a 7'6 heavy vendetta I wouldn't suggest it unless you don't need sensitivity (ie use it for swimbaits over pads) it is not a jig rod, big worm rod, or a flippin stick
  9. I have a deck and a foot controlled pedal on the front of my 14 foot johnboat, along with a depth finder I just have a problem keeping the fish alive especially in Florida. Gear isn't a big problem for me if im by myself I can have 8 or 10 rods, so long as its a smaller lake I know I could whip up on the big dawg boats lol
