How do you fish shade?
I'm always looking to learn new stuff. I've never spent much time studying how to properly fish shade areas in sunny conditions. How do you guys/gals fish the shade? Do you fish the actual shade lines, run baits in the sun just outside of the shade, go right thru the middle, fan cast it, etc? Is there a starting point for every patch of shade (always work the shade line first then work your way in)?

Hooking a fish in the top of the mouth and out thru the eye
Well, the destruction continues. Intended to go out for about half an hour, caught a fish on the second cast, destroyed it's left eye (hook right through the middle of the eye) packed it up and went home. I'm going to put down the creature bait 4/0 EWG hook for a while. I think I'll go Ned rig fishing tomorrow.

Is anyone going to specifically fish the solar eclipse?
That sounds like a plan to me. I will try one. My local ponds are hitting creature baits on the bottom pretty hard right now.

Topwater colors
A dark color, lite color, and translucent color would cover quite a bit IMO. You could branch off into shad, bluegill, perch, or whatever the bait fish are in your area also. JMO

Hooking a fish in the top of the mouth and out thru the eye
I've seen people switch their treble hooks out for single hooks as well. I've personally never hooked a fish in the eye with a treble hook before.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you talking about treble bait hooks? You could crush the barbs on those as well.

Speaking of Party fish, I see that El Grande lures hatch match sticks come in Mardi Gras color :). Maybe that should be my bait choice.

The next time I see a pack of those I will give them a try. Thanks for the advice!

Is anyone going to specifically fish the solar eclipse?
I think 10% of them will go to 90% of the water

Hooking a fish in the top of the mouth and out thru the eye
Most of them happen on a 4/0 owner twist lock hook, Texas rigged weighted and pegged, with a creature bait.

Do they sell eye patches at Tackle Warehouse?

I am. I think it would be neat to say you caught fish during the eclipse. There's going to be about a 90 ish percent total eclipse here. What do you think the fish will do during this time? anything different? What lures would you use different if any?

Hooking a fish in the top of the mouth and out thru the eye
Are there any good techniques that can help in removing the hook? I've caught a handful of fish lately that have a hook coming out around the eye. So far I haven't found a good way to remove the hook without jacking up it's eye ball. I've thought about smashing the barb on the hook but it's hard to get to. Any ideas? Or is it just part of the game.

I'm building an every day tackle box - one that I can carry that can have a good majority of the lures I use. Looking for input!
It would be hard for me not to add some stick baits, flukes, and some ned rig supplies to that mix, even if i had to remove something else. JMO

The best/most exciting moment in fishing?
For me, it's the moment a fish has engulfed my hollow body frog and i'm about to cross it's eyes with a hookset :).

Set the hook or not?
"my jig falls on an oak leaf and drifts to the left, I'm pullin the trigger, I'll promise you. You let me get a little fishing line on there, no uh uh, no I'm swingin. Let me throw some where and pick it up and it's hung, i'm jerkin. jerks are free, swing" - Gerald Swindle

What's your preferred method of fishing?
Frogs, frogs, and frogs

Daiwa Fuego CT
Love my Tatula CT's, but one disadvantage of the TWS is it's horrible with leader knots if one has a leader long enough to get to the reel.

What is this monstrous lure?
That's my wacky rig hook, love the fall rate

What size Whopper Plopper? 90 or 110?
I only own 110's (late to the polpper game, too busy throwing frogs :P). Having said that, I think the 110 is a great all around size.

New Marketing Good Idea or Fail?
Sounds odd to me too. Hopefully it will work out and you can be compensated for the extra work.

New Marketing Good Idea or Fail?
If the company wanted to increase my pay such that it equals what they paid for company people to do the things you mention then I would do it, assuming I had the time (probably wouldn't do it if I was fishing for a living). Otherwise, I'd be looking for another job. JMO

Help Plan My Attack!!!
0% chance I wouldn't throw a frog until I was convinced they wouldn't bite it. I'd start with a hollow body first (brown or black if the light is low, and white or yellow/chartreuse if the sky is blue and brightish light). If they didn't hit that, I would throw a soft plastic frog and work it like a buzzbait then let it stop and slowly sink, reel it back up to the surface and do it again. If they didn't want a frog, I'd try a plopper and then go a swim jig, followed by a soft plastic weightless, then weighted and dragged. If you haven't caught anything by then, it's probably time to head home Have a blast either way!! and this is just what I would do YMMV
