  1. Started fishing when I was in grade school, just targeting anything and everything (mostly bluegill and creek chub on my grandparents farm). Got away from fishing in my adult life for a while but picked up fishing again about 4 years ago when my daughter was born. That's when I really started to target bass specifically on most trips. Bad timing to pick up this obsession, as having kids limits my time wetting the line. On the plus side, my daughter enjoys it when I bring her along.
  2. You guys Rock. This is the exact information I was looking for and the pictures from fissure_man are awesome as the visual comparison really helps me. Great info on the difference in wire and points.
  3. Thanks everyone. I appreciate everyone's thoughts and help. the open gap is the one that I've used the most but the light is also one I like.
  4. Thanks, I saw this post when I did a search. I just questioned the swim jig hook gap vs the flipping jig hook gap for rigging craws. Thoughts?
  5. OK, I'm really liking the rigging ease of the Owner Twistlock hooks, but not so fond of the price per hook. So my cheapskate mind is thinking of using the CPS keeper and possibly another hook. The Do-it Mustad Casting Swim Jig 32886BLN and Do-it Mustad Flipping 91768BLN have drawn my attention as possible replacements. I know these are designed for making jigs but wondered how they compare in shape and size to the Owner Twislock hooks. Unfortunately there is not a retail store near me that sells the Do-It Jig hooks so I don't have the ability to look at them myself. Does anyone here have both and can compare them? Or, have you even done this same thing with using these jig hooks for another purpose?
  6. I saw that, unfortunately even they don't have any reviews. Let me know if you get one and give it a try.
  7. I've tried oudoorlife and most of the major retailers. Since very few retailers actually sell the lower price point 300 series, there aren't any reviews. I don't even know how long they have been out. Maybe I just started looking at reels again about the time they were released. I do see that the 320 and 360 have gotten good reviews which is why I'm intrigued by the 300 series, which is a little closer to my price point.
  8. Can't find any reviews on the Duckett 300 Series Baitcast Reels anywhere here or on the web. I'm referring to the one at the 129.99 price point. Anyone tried one and what did you think?
  9. No. I don't think I could beat KVD or any top tier pro if all they had was a stick with some twine at the end. Their ability to read a body of water and conditions far exceeds any advantage in equipment I would have.
  10. As someone who too loves both golf and fishing I can relate to this question. The paths to a professional career in either is neither easy or guaranteed. An education is such an important part of life whatever career you choose. Golf and fishing will always be there as a hobby either seriously (tournament) or recreationally. Being able to use one of those hobbies as a source to getting your education should be viewed as a bonus.
  11. Caught 4 dinks in an hour of fishing with my 3 year old daughter last night. Just enough to keep her entertained.
