Daiwa Exceler 4000H line capacity?
I wanted a reel with a big enough line capacity that could handle a higher pound test for heavier topwater lures like the Whopper Plopper 130 and swim baits such as the Savage Gear 6" 3D line thru trout.

Daiwa Exceler 4000H line capacity?
I've decided to try some Sufix Superior mono line in the 15lb. test. It says the diameter is 0.016 and my reels largest capacity is a 40mm line so that's right at or slightly over the max so I'll just have DSG spool a little less than the listed 210 yards of 40mm line listed on the reel and hope for the best :).

Daiwa Exceler 4000H line capacity?
Would a co-polymer be better than mono for top water?

Daiwa Exceler 4000H line capacity?
Gee, never thought of that...lol. Seriously, Google was the first place i went but like i said...just trying to make sure that Japanese way of figuring out their lbs. test line is the same as the American way of figuring that out or if it's different (as some articles i read said they use a different process) as the diameter of the line and the lbs. test don't seem to jive, how can I accurately figure out the American conversion? The specs I've been finding are as follows: MONO: 10/300, 12/260, 14/210, the problem is on the reel itself it clearly states 16, 20 and 25lb. which is what's confusing me.

Daiwa Exceler 4000H line capacity?
Well they must label the mono capacity that high on this reel for a reason right? I mean they wouldn't label it that way if the reel was never intended to handle it efficiently. What would be the mono with the lowest memory to put on there in a 15lb. test?

Daiwa Exceler 4000H line capacity?
Anybody???

Daiwa Exceler 4000H line capacity?
Nah, I got this big reel because i wanted a much larger size than 10lb. test...I'm thinking more 15 - 17lb. test but want to make sure i understand the reels capacity first.

Daiwa Exceler 4000H line capacity?
I just bought a new Daiwa Exceler 4000H spinning reel. I am having trouble finding out the correct mono line capacity for it. On the box it says 16lb. (0.33mm), 20lb. (0.37mm) and 25lb. (0.40mm). The pound test and the line diameter's don't seem to be matching up (i.e.-the 0.40mm looks to be closer to 17lb test than the 25lb. labeled on the box). I then read that the Japanese use a different way of measuring their line than the USA does...is this true? I'm trying to spool the reel with the heaviest mono (Big Game) that I can so I can throw the heavier top water baits like the Whopper Plopper 130. Any help would be appreciated!!!

Lowrance Lake Insight Pro v14?
Well, I can find the waters I need on the navionics web app so I assume that means they would be on the navionics plus map software...correct?
-
Lowrance Lake Insight Pro v14?
So it sounds like Navionic's has it hands down over Lake Insight Pro.

Lowrance Lake Insight Pro v14?
I just installed a Lowarnce elite 4 Chirp in my boat and it came with the Lake Insight Pro v14 mapping software. Upon looking at the included ponds/lakes for my State (Vermont) about 90% of them are listed as "shoreline only" with about half-dozen "standard definition" and only 1 "HD"...well, shoreline only means no contours, is there an update available that would perhaps include some more "standard definition (3 - 10ft. contours)" of my local ponds/lakes? If not this mapping software isn't going to do me a whole lot of good :(. Is Navionics Plus any better you think? Maybe I should sell the Lake Insight Pro v14 chip and buy a Navionics Plus chip (my Lowrance is compatible with both it says)?

Jackall Pompadour...worth it?
I wonder if you could just screw in a ring with a prop on it like from a torpedo into the butt end of a crazy crawler so you'd have the prop action as well as the wing action like the Pompadour?
-
Jackall Pompadour...worth it?
The guy at TW that I spoke to the other day when I was inquiring about the Whopper Plopper said that the WP was his among his favorite top water lures with only the Pompadour rating higher in his opinion. I would just like to know from the average fisherman who has one though and not necessarily someone who is more than likely trying to sell me one.

Jackall Pompadour...worth it?
I know this a very subjective matter but I'm looking for that last great bait to complete my tackle box (or I'll be outside sleeping in the boat) and have eye's on the Jackall Pompadour in the Black Bone color but dang...$20 ($25 really after shipping) for a bait is causing me great pause. I just purchased some Whopper Plopper's on sale at $14 and said that was the most expensive bait I'll ever buy but now I'd like that one last special bait and then if i can't catch bass with the arsenal i have then they just weren't meant to be caught :D.

Best spinning real combo between $50-75
Lew's Carbon Blue can be had at DSG for about $80 and that would make you a good combo too!

On-board Battery Charger?
I just started using my new Cabela's Pro Series Advanced Angler on-board charger last night. Everything is charged this morning, how long should I leave the charger plugged in?

Berkley Portable Line Spooling Station

Berkley Portable Line Spooling Station
My Dad bought me this from Cabelas the other day...http://www.cabelas.com/product/berkley-reg-portable-line-spooler/1875406.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dberkley%2Bportable%2Bline%2Bspooling%2Bstation%26x%3D10%26y%3D6%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%252BProducts&Ntt=berkley+portable+line+spooling+station, After reading the mixed reviews there seems to be a couple of things wrong with this item and I'm wondering if any of you have this item and have made modifications to it to get it to work better? One major complaint is the diameter of the rod which holds the spool of fishing line is too small for some of the spools larger diameter center holes. I was thinking if there might be some sort of a rubber or hard foam coupler that either has a hole that the rod would fit through or could have a hole drilled through it so it would be a snug fit for the rod but provide enough added thickness to also make a snug fit through the larger center hole of the line spool which would stop the wobbly spin that some people complain about. The second major complaint is that the tension bar has a rubber pad on it that wears down and little rubber pieces start coming off on the line you're spooling into your reel. Is there a replacement for the rubber piece, maybe wrap some felt around it or just replace it all together with a piece of felt? I would definitely be interested to hear if anybody has tried some mods to fix these problems and how they have worked out for you?

Line (Inches) Per Turn?
I was just wondering if there were 2 different reels that were similar in size and gear ratio but one had significantly more IPT if i'd be wiser buying the one with the highest IPT or not.

Line (Inches) Per Turn?
When does LPT become an important factor for a spinning reel and what range should you look for best all-around reel? best crank bait, jerk bait? top water? soft plastics? swim baits?

Big Lures = Big Bass?
This must be the Blue Fin Tuna crank bait...lol. OMG...you have no idea!!! I've already accepted (had beaten into my head) that whatever goes wrong is of course my fault and that whatever the wife says is gospel...lol.

Big Lures = Big Bass?
My wife and I got into a friendly discussion tonight about lure size (after she saw my Tackle Warehouse package of a 130 and 90 Whopper Plopper) equating to fish size. I know that I have seen many YouTube videos, read many articles and spoken to tackle store gurus that say a bass is a lot more inclined to exert energy for a potentially bigger meal (i.e.- bigger lures) than a smaller one. A lot of people also have told me that bigger lures catch higher quality fish (bigger) while smaller lures may catch more fish overall. My wife says she's read where a bigger lure doesn't necessarily translate into or is necessary to catch bigger fish. Which side are you guys on and why?

Best spinning rod for under $150
I really like my Fenwick HMG, really nice rod and it comes with a lifetime warranty...the best part is it only cost $99 so you could get that and pair it with a Pflueger President reel for your $150 price tag and have a great set up IMO.
