Boo-Yah Pond Magic Spinnerbaits
So do you think they would be a good Fall bait as the bass will be coming shallow again to fatten up before moving out deep for the Winter (especially up here in the New England where I live)? What size of a trailer could you put on those?

Boo-Yah Pond Magic Spinnerbaits
Does anybody have experience with these baits? I'm getting some new 1/2 oz. spinnerbaits shortly but was up to Wal-Mart today and saw these. They look like they have a decent size hook on them but they're tiny (only 3/16 oz.), tiny wire and tiny blades. They are cheap at like $3 each but they just look too tiny to sink well and create enough vibration to attract the big bass.

Smithwick Devil's Horse
Yup, those are the ones I'm talking about :).

Topwater colors
I've always been taught that you want light/white, dark/black and natural/forage color.

Smithwick Devil's Horse
Okay, if you could get only 1 which size...3/8oz or 1/2oz and what color? I'm thinking 1/2oz in the Chrome w/Black back but if the consensus is something different i could be persuaded.

Spro BBZ1 Rat Lure color?
I decided to go with the Brown color and I actually went with the size 30 instead as they are much closer to the size of our mice so it'll be a natural looking bait to the fish. Thanks to all who replied!!!

Spro BBZ1 Rat Lure color?
I live by the rule that the only stupid question is the one not asked . I'm trying to be a sponge and soak up some knowledge from people who have been doing this a lot longer than me...most of the time it works, sometimes it doesn't but I'll never know if I don't ask!!!

Spro BBZ1 Rat Lure color?
So if that's the case why does the Morning Dawn color seem to catch more fish than the other colors? I always thought matching the forage was the best choice but I've never seen a bright purple mouse before .

Spro BBZ1 Rat Lure color?
But when do you fish it? I do most of my fishing in the evenings, wouldn't a darker color like the brown be better (it also matches the local forage as our mice are brown) than a brighter color like the purple/yellow?

Spro BBZ1 Rat Lure color?
Okay, I have put the Mini Slammer on the list for next season...maybe a Christmas present as I've called about it and Mike is running almost 2 months behind schedule filling orders but for this upcoming Fall season which will be starting in a couple of weeks for us here in the North the Spro Rat is going to be the choice so now I just need to get a consensus on which color would work best for me in my area where the mice found are generally a dark gray-ish brown (mostly brown though)...Brown, Gray or Dawn?

Spro BBZ1 Rat Lure color?
I don't mean to sound disrespectful but gosh, those mini slammers look like a toy made for children. I mean they have no features other than the swivel part, tail and eyes, it certainly doesn't look like a rat or mouse. The Spro rat really looks like a mouse/rat. I could be way off on this and I'm sure that the slammer catches fish and I'm probably not making the right choice but I can't bring myself to pay over $30 for two little pieces of wood with a hinge in the middle. Now if it didn't cost $30 and was like $10 than I'd give it a try. This may be a case of the looks of the lure catching the fisherman and not necessarily the fish. If I could find a used mini slammer and try it out maybe I'd be sold by the results.

Spro BBZ1 Rat Lure color?
Okay, think I've decided to splurge a little and get one of these rat lures in the 40 size (1oz.), now my question is what color should I get...Brown/White, Grey/White or Morning Dawn? My initial instinct says either Brow or Grey with a slight preference towards Brown as that's what color most mice are where i live BUT...I've seen many reviews with people raving about the Morning Dawn color, it doesn't make sense to me as I've never seen a purple mouse with bright yellow tail before but it's not just one or two reviews saying this color slays them but several reviews. I tend to do more evening fishing than morning fishing. Which color would you/do you prefer and why?

Savage Gear Suicide Duck
I checked it out...$32 for a bait...no way, that's definitely way over my per bait limit! I have a hard time coughing up $20 for a single bait...lol. If I go with a rat/mouse bait it will most likely be the Spro BBZ1 Rat OR maybe the Live Target Hollow Body Field Mouse.

Spook
I'm looking at the Super Spook and Super Spook Jr.
-
Savage Gear Suicide Duck
Okay, so if you had to choose between the SG duck or the Spro rat which would you choose?
-
Spook
Yeah, those are what I'm looking at.
-
Spook
So are the hooks still bad and should be replaced?
-
Savage Gear Suicide Duck
If the duck is a sham what about the Spro Rat (specifically in the 1/2oz. and 1oz. versions)?
-
Spook
What are the differences between the freshwater and saltwater versions of the spook/spook jr. ?

Savage Gear Suicide Duck
I know...Cadillac taste on a VW budget...lol. Most of this is dreaming although I do have a $25 Gander Mountain rebate coming any day now, I also have a $25 rebate from another coupon source and $20 i have saved up so in total I have about $70 to spend on fishing stuff. After that it'll be pretty much only Holiday's and Birthday's.

Savage Gear Suicide Duck
What are your thoughts on this lure, good? Bad? I was thinking of giving it a try in the Black Bird version but wondered how effective it is considering it looks like a black baby duck and not really like a black bird but could a bass tell and/or care?

Making Your Own Bass Pond
No interest in anything but LMB really. I've seen a lot of farm ponds that have bass in them and a lot of those aren't much bigger than the one I want to build.
-
Making Your Own Bass Pond
Yeah, this would be like a 1/3 acre pond. My entire lot is only .92 acres...lol. Would plants do this too? Of course the winter would be another story as most plants go dormant or die off. Also, how deep would the deepest part need to be so that the ice doesn't freeze all the way to the bottom and kill off the fish? Would you introduce the food sources (perch, trout, blue gill, crawdads, bull frogs etc.) first and let them become established before introducing the Bass?

Making Your Own Bass Pond
Umm, yeah...if buying an excavator will be cheaper than hiring somebody I think this will most likely remain a dream...lol.

Making Your Own Bass Pond
The end towards where i have the lily pads is kind of marshy...probably a spring somewhere. The land is lower than my lawn section by about 4 or 5 feet (slopes down). I have no idea about the water table or how i could find out? I know that i plan on putting a swale (drainage ditch) through my back yard so that when it rains the water doesn't come down towards my house...could probably do that and make like a little brook-type drainage channel from the lawn down to the pond.
