  1. Well, folks, the Silly Season has started in commercial hvac. Went on an 'emergency' no heat call the other morning to one of our cubicle farm customers. Over 100 people in a big room and a dozen of them are starting to fight over the thermostats already. Seems 72F was too hot this summer, but 68F is too cold this fall. Sigh... Lol!
  2. Pretty fish, bud. Good and healthy. For what it's worth, Damiki makes a sweet Neko rig bait called the Hydra. I've caught more Neko rig bass using this bait than any other bait, hands down. Again, beautiful fish!
  3. Good advice all around. Catt also nailed something spot on. There are often multiple bass in an attractive location.
  4. Sorry about that, slonezp. Didn't see your reply before I posted.
  5. There are several websites that are pretty good at listing average incomes. A lot depends on the region and what the local population/economy is. In Virginia (at least the Roanoke area), commercial techs generally make more than residential techs. I don't necessarily agree with that, but that seems to be the case. Also, experience goes a long way in negotiating a wage. It's a good field, HH. Hope that helps some.
  6. Commercial HVAC. Used to be an archeologist for the USFS, then a school teacher. Woke up one day realizing I didn't want to teach 5 more minutes let alone the rest of my life. A friend suggested HVAC and it turned out to be a good match. Been mixed up in it for over 20 years now.
  7. I'm in the commercial hvac trade. The last two winters were brutal. Not sure this short, fat hillbilly can take another winter of working on roofs at -10F. Hope he's wrong.
  8. Hands down, the scariest and most disturbing movie I've ever seen. When she comes walking down the stairs upside down... Still causes chills.
  9. My Uncle Danny trolling a Jitterbug behind a row boat on Seneca Lake in Ohio. He had at least 2-ounces of split shot attached to the line to 'get it down deep'. Dang rascal actually caught a couple Saugeye with that contraption.. It twisted up his line pretty bad but, defying logic, it worked.
  10. I remember the exact cast and location of my first jig fish. Tried them many times before without success until that one cast. Fell in love with the jig with that first fish and the 'affair' has continued to this day. Hope you enjoy many years and many hawgs with that ol' jig.
  11. Congrats on the record! Lol! We have pickerel in several fisheries in SW Virginia. There is a series of flood control ponds in Giles County that are full of them. A bag of Flukes and some tough line make for a great day.
  12. Thanks, gents! 68camaro-- You bet, bud. Molon labe!
  13. Greg, got to thinking about Ken Acres and spoke with some family. Turns out it was Rockbridge Rd. I remember. Had a little convenience store called Ralph's Market. We lived on the corner of Quail Call and Knob View. That market still there?
  14. Thanks, folks!
  15. This photo's been on several bass fishing sites. Sorta glad there's other folks finding it questionable, too.
  16. Ha! Small world, indeed. Used to live in Ken Acres. I think it was Cardinal Lane. This was back in the '70s, so it's probably all developed by now. Back then it was corn, tobacco and a lot of great places for a boy to be a boy.
  17. Hello, Greg! Spent part of my childhood in Shelbyville off Hempridge Rd. Used to fish the ponds and Guist Creek. Good memories.
  18. Holy cow! I'm humbled by the welcome. Thanks, everybody.
  19. My name is Jaison and Roanoke, Virginia is home. Been fishing forever but seriously chasing bass for about 15 years. Looking forward to learning and sharing on the site. The amount of information here is pretty darn impressive.
  20. Roanoke is home. Live about 15 mins from the Hardy ramp at Smith Mountain Lake. Member of East Gate club. Glad to see so many Virginia folks.
