  1. Have caught 3 bass at the same time on a jerkbait and many times 2 bass at the same time on a jerkbait, crankbait or popper. These bass where in clear water and where most likely competing to eat the lure.
  2. I live in South Florida where we have a extremely healthy population of native Florida strain largemouth bass and where many people have had +100 bass days. My current record for most bass caught in 1 day is 149 bass that I caught from land in public waters in less than 6 hours of fishing. Could of surpassed 200 bass in 1 day if I wanted to but it is hard for me to just focus on bass when I have so much variety to choose from in South Florida. Might consider breaking this record when the conditions are right. Have had other +100 bass days and its nothing special to catch +20 bass in a regular day of fishing in many locations I fish. Probably have caught 1000's of bass in the years I have fished South Florida but have lost count of the exact number a long time ago.

  5. Have seen plenty of cottonmouths,Burmese pythons, and other types of snakes while fishing in South Florida but have not seen these snakes while diving. Diving is a sport that is not for everyone and I agree there are potential dangers for anyone that dives. For me it's worth all the training, money, and time I have invested since it's extremely beautiful down there and freediving is a great form of cardiovascular exercise.
  6. The Tennessee river sounds like a place with low water visibility but at least divers don't have to worry about sharks, stingrays, moray eels, barracudas, alligators, and crocodiles like we have here in South Florida. I have freedived with all the animals I mentioned and yes you have to be very calm when diving with these animals. Maybe the divers in your area have seen giant catfish since I have read reports from divers saying they saw catfish bigger than a man near the dams. It might be true since blue catfish in excess of 300 pounds where caught in the 1800's and maybe some still get that big but aren't caught.
  7. I enjoy freediving but I won't dive for mussles in the murky conditions you mentioned and prefer diving in clear water. For lobsters I will dive in low visibility waters and even then I don't do it often.
  8. I don't play the guitar much but I like hearing the music from Spanish guitars.
  9. Thank you @Arcs&sparks. I have done some fly fishing and would like to do more of it in the future, maybe for tarpon, snook, bass, peacock bass, or anything that can give a fun fight on flyfishing tackle.I agree with you that bass fishing gets boring quickly if it was the only form of fishing I where to do.
  10. I remember you making a post earlier about how the red tide affected your area of the state and how I told you the fish will rebound like they always do after a redtide event. Those gafftopsail catfish are pound for pound better fighters than snook, at least in the areas I have caught them in. Caught one of these saltwater catfish that was close to state record size a couple months ago and I thought I had a +36 inch snook on the line, turned out to be gafftopsail catfish just under 26 inches. As for lure fishing, I have caught multiple snook over 40 inches and bass over 10 pounds on lures and I do not look down on live bait fishermen since I know live bait fishing is a art in itself and know from personal experience that sometimes the reaction bite from a lure can outfish live bait.
  11. Happy 4th of July everyone. We are very fortunate to live in the best country in the whole world.
  12. Good report thank you for posting it.
  13. Sounds like you had a great time with your better half. I also enjoy fishing in swampy areas especially at night when the swamp animals come out and start to commuciate with each other.
  14. Have not tried this exact technique and will consider using it the next time I fish on a boat for catfish. Have caught catfish on topwaters, jerkbaits, lipless crankbaits, crankbaits, jigs, swimbaits but have caught the vast majority of my catfish on some type of natural bait.
  15. Forgot to mention earlier that I am one of the few South Florida fishermen in this forum that enjoys fishing for catfish and I have caught well over 10 species of catfish in my travels. Most tend to look down on catfish but I don't since I have a open mind and acknowledge that catfish can present just as much a challenge than a bass can. Many trips I have been humbled by catfish and I have caught a couple double digit bass on public waters. There's always some one looking down on what you fish for such as bass fishermen looking down on catfishing, saltwater fishermen looking down on bass fishermen, rod and reel fishermen looking down on spearfishermen, fly fishermen looking down on just about all types of fishing, etc. I learned long ago to ignore these types of elitist fishermen, not take them fishing with me, and instead enjoy fishing for whatever species of fish I want, whether its for tiny mosquito fish or for sharks bigger than myself that can give me a decent workout while reeling the shark in.
  16. I still have the original VHS version of Jurassic Park that I got as a kid along with a couple other VHS movies and a VHS player. The newest movie called Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was very good as well and in the end of the movie several dinosaur species escape into a city. Hope the next movie comes out soon since I will be seeing it for sure.
  17. Well said and I agree with this quote from the movie.

  21. Good report, thank you for posting it. I also enjoy fishing with my loved ones and prefer it over fishing with anyone else.
  22. Congratulations on catching your first bass on a spinnerbait. They are one of my favorite lures for bass fishing.
  23. Hearing the spinning reel drag scream with a big saltwater fish is one of my favorite sounds. Also like the sound a old Penn Senator makes when a big shark takes the bait. Beats catching a bass that's for sure!
  24. There are at least 3 types of fish that are called sheepshead in North America. The California sheepshead, the freshwater sheepshead, which is also known as the freshwater drum, and the saltwater sheepshead from the south. The saltwater sheepshead (Archosargus probatocephalus) from the south is the one that looks like it has human teeth. They also taste good so most people keep them if they are of legal size.
