  1. I agree there's tons of 1-4 pound bass biting in the Everglades right now, as well as bowfin, gar, sunfish, exotic fish, etc. These little fish are biting before the big bass are, but that's ok with me since I go to the Everglades for numbers of fish, not necessary for big bass( I go to other locations for that). You can try fishing with larger than normal swimbaits, that might get you a big bite or at least lower the amount of small fish that get hooked. Make sure to bring plenty of swimbaits since the bowfin and gar bite them and they will tear them up good. Its still a great day on the water when the bite is hot like it is now!

  3. Congratulations on your new personal best bass.
  4. Thank you for posting your report. Lots of people been having +50 fish days and even +100 fish days in the glades for the past couple weeks now. The water is very low at this moment in the Everglades and I might go out there for another +100 fish day if the water keeps dropping like it has.

  7. Hogfish, mahi mahi, tripletail, cobia, and most saltwater fish taste much better than any freshwater fish and that includes crappie.
  8. Lots of good responses. I have caught the majority of my redfish on bass fishing tackle and even gone as light as 8 pound test mono to catch a bull red. Make sure to have a good reel with a smooth drag since redfish are well known for making long runs.
  9. The suckers will eat a piece of worm fished on or near the bottom. Use a small hook such as a size 8 or size 4. Suckers make good bait for muskies, northern pike, smallies, and many other fish.
  10. There is nothing wrong with keeping your legal limit of bass if you have a freshwater fishing license. The real problem is greedy people who keep more than what they are allowed to keep and those that keep too many bass outside the legal slot limit( depending on the location). I would be more concerned with places that have high fishing pressure, since the big bass will learn to avoid most fishermen and many of the bass will die a slow, painful death from swallowing so many soft plastics( plenty of videos and articles online of sick, skinny bass with stomachs full of soft plastics). Improper handing from catch and release bass fishing can kill bass and that's even worse than someone keeping a bass for dinner. Well said @Catt
  11. Well said @Mike L. Someone can also visit South Florida for the many exotic fish we have( peacock bass, clown knifefish, bullseye snakehead, etc) , do some big game fishing in the ocean, or even go diving in one of the most beautiful coral reef systems in the world. We are blessed to live in Florida to say the least!
  12. What's the water temperature? Almost any topwater may catch you a bass if the water temperature is 65-75 degrees.
  13. Yes it's a great bait for freshwater stripers and many other types of fish. They make good bait for freshwater snook and tarpon as well.
  14. Try fishing at night
  15. Snowfleas seem to be interesting little animals.

  17. There's good muskie and smallmouth bass fishing in Michigan so I might consider going there later on after visiting Wisconsin and Minnesota. Alaska is also on my list to fish for salmon, trout, and for diving.
  18. Nice double. I have caught a double of peacock and largemouth or largemouth and warmouth while fishing with jerkbaits in South Florida. Jerkbaits are one of my favorite lures for active bass.
  19. You are welcome. Hope you have a good time. Let me know if you need more help.
  20. The most bass I have caught in 1 day is 149 bass and that includes lots of nice sized ones. I did this in less than 6 hours of fishing, from public land, all on artificials. There are many Floridians who have caught +200 bass in a day so I am not the only one. I have caught a couple bass over 10 pounds, hundreds of bass over 5 pounds, all from public waters in Florida. There are plenty of Florida fishermen with better bass catches than me that catch +13 pounders every year.I still got +50 years of quality life ahead of me so I have lots of time to get better. I will go to Georgia,Texas, Wisconsin, Minnesota, etc before I will go to Mexico again, and I will only go to Mexico for diving not bass fishing(Thinking of filming whale sharks and sailfish).
  21. I use 30 pound test powerpro braid for my frogging and so far it has done a fine job at helping me land several bass in the +8 pound class. Make sure to use a rod with a stiff backbone and set the hook after the frog disappears.
  22. Nice bluefin tunas, especially on light tackle. I have been to Mexico a couple times,it is a beautiful country but I prefer spending my vacations in the USA or other countries I have on my bucketlist. Central/Northern Florida has plenty of trophy bass(+10 pounds and up) so I don't need to go to Mexico to catch a couple big bass I can just stay in my home state for that. The saltwater fishing in Florida is world class so I don't need to travel to Mexico again for saltwater fishing since its not needed. Other states have good saltwater fishing and much safer to travel to.I agree that Mexico can be dangerous, especially if you travel outside the "tourist zones", this is something I and a friend learned. My friend convinced me to leave the tourist area( even though the employees in the hotel we where in warned us to not leave the tourist zone since the area after the tourist zone is a high crime area) and we almost got robbed by 2 men while being in the non tourist zone. These men where following us for a couple blocks after they asked for money and we told them no.These 2 men where very shady looking and we where very fortunate that nothing happened to us.We went to a restuarant in the area, told the staff about the men that where within sight of us, and they made those men go away by telling them they where going to call the local police. That's when I realized the hotel staff was right to not leave the tourist area and that was enough for me to know that what I have read about that place is correct. Life is too short to risk it for something that's not worth it, even if it's a little green fish that barely weighs 10 pounds.
