  1. Thanks to all this rain, all the usual fishing spots aren't producing fish, what gives? I know they are probably exploring areas in the flats but is there any tricks or tips that I can employ to get some bites? Been out late afternoons and tried the other night during the full moon about 11pm, couldn't get any bites on worms, lure, or frogs. Anything I can do to lure them out of the flats or just wait for the water levels to go down some?
  2. specifically out of everglades holiday park, new to the sport and curious. See some people like bass, some reserve it only to catch and release. Also, knowing the everglades history and current conditions, wonder if it's even safe to really eat from there.
  3. Thanks for the welcome everybody! I know this will upset some, lol. Here's my boat I picked up... been in a garage since 1989. These are photos when I first brought it home. 1980 Ranger 1600 V-3 with a Johnson 60 Seahorse and a 24v Johnson trolling motor.
  4. Title says it all, lol. Trying to get a hang of this fresh water thing. Been an offshore fisherman all my life, but by luck got a great deal on a bass boat and decided to give it a go. Been out to the Everglades got plenty of small bass, but wanted to try to catch some Snakehead (dinnertime!) been out to C-14 twice now and both times came back empty. Today we went out 4/15/18 from bout 10:30 to 2, and got nothing. The wind was whipping and the C-14 was probably a little high (lot higher then the first time I went out) so it was kind of hard keeping the boat lined up to fish along the shoreline. Used braided line with frogs, and also tried a KVD 1.5 outside of the weeds. Seen a lot of Peacock fish but none were interested in our stuff, and didn't see any snakehead. Fished up and down the main canal and also a few dead end parts. I don't know how fishing for snakehead goes with the weather and the tides of the canal, so if there's any pointers that would be great. From what I've read I know they spook easy and like to stay near the banks, so I've been trying to keep the bait parallel to shore and aiming for weeded areas and even trying to get the frogs up on the bank and reel them into the water. Don't know if I'm doing any of it right, just looking for some pointers. Somebody also told me that the C-14 for snakehead is fished out, but reading the info on how snakehead quickly reproduce, I'm hoping that's just wrong, and I'm just doing something wrong. TL;DR Would like some Snakehead fishing tips, weather related tips, and time/days to fish? Thanks!
  5. Just stumbled into the bass world by chance, found a ranger that's been in a garage since 1989, bought it for 400 and got it running good been out once in the everglades and already got 4 or 5 bass. Nice way to start I think. What's up everybody happy Easter.
  6. Hey hey, just got into the bass world bought a 1980 ranger 1600 v3 that has been in a garage since 1989. Got everything going but the trolling motor, it's a 24v system so that's new to me. Do I need 3 batteries for my boat? I have a control unit at the bow that has a 12v/24v/and a 12v charge switch. So my question really is just if I need 3 batteries or if I can work the system off 2 for?
