Hard to tell the weight of a bass in a picture but I would say that bass is easily over 5 pounds .What was the length and girth?

I agree with you that Bass fishing has become to commercialized to say the least.

Crappie jigs-experiment with different colors and use the ones that work best in your area Missouri minnows under a small float-works well any where there are crappie

Big bluegills are fun to catch and fight much harder than a bass of equal size.A lot of big bluegills have a bigger girth measurement than they have a length measurement. Do not be surprised if you catch a big channel catfish at night when fishing with breadballs when targeting big bluegills.

Gars love jerkbaits, at least down here

I have caught several bluegills over 2 pounds and over 13 inches on bread or jerkbaits.Caught most of these bluegills at nighttime.

I thank God for giving me the determination and persistence needed to fish well any body of water I decide to fish.

2015 was a great year for fishing for me.Caught many big bass along with large numbers of bass.I also caught many new personal best for different types of fish in both freshwater and saltwater.

Jaguar Guapote are fun to catch on light tackle.Small spinnerbaits work well for them.

I get rods more based on what I will use them for and how they preform than for just getting a rod since it is well known brand.For example my second favorite lure rod is worth less than $20 yet it has caught me lots of large bass.

I have seen a couple bass nest with males on them down here in South Florida.

There has been good bass fishing overall this whole year,you just have to experiment with lure presentations and find out what they want.

Yes in March/April you can catch very large numbers of bass in the Glades,I have had days where I have caught over 100 bass from the shore all on artificials. Most of these bass are under 3 pounds with few over 5 pounds.I would recommend fishing Lake Toho or one of the Winter Haven lakes if your goal is Double Digit Bass.

This has been the warmest December that I have seen living in South Florida. Almost every day has been in the 80's and our canals have much higher water levels than normal for this time of year.

It's a Jaguar Guapote and they get bigger than most people think.I have caught some Jaguar Guapotes over 20" and +5 pounds .

I would use a swimbait.

Oldest reels I use are my +30 year old Penn Senators I use for big game fishing .Those reels are some of the most reliable reels ever made.For bass fishing I have a Shimano Spinning reel that is over 20 years old and that has caught me several double digit bass,along with large saltwater fish.
