  1. Personally I like the challenge of bass fishing from the shore.I feel that with the right tactics you will do just as good on the shore (if not better) compared to bass fishing on a boat. Look for changes in the shoreline, changes in underwater structure, concentrations of baitfish, locations where you see bass attacking baitfish.Experiment with different lures and lure retrieves to see what the bass like.Never ever give up,fish the ponds hard, and you will learn those ponds like the back of your hand.
  2. Me and my family had a great time fishing this Thanksgiving/Thanksgiving weekend. We caught a lot of Largemouth and Peacock bass.Helped my little cousin catch his personal best Largemouth Bass which was over 7 pounds. Now he's hooked for life and I am happy I was the one who taught him.I also caught many bass with 2 of them well over 6 pounds each. All the bass where caught from the bank and all where released to be caught another day.
  3. Read and study as much as you can about different techniques to catch bass and when to use these techniques.Study Bass Biology of your area to be better able to predict where the bass will be at a certain time of year.Get a journal to write down successful bass fishing trips.Write the location, date, time of day, wind direction/speed,water clarity, cover, bait fish around the area, lure used and as much info as possible about the trip.I have done this(and still do it) and it has helped me to be able to find bass in any body of water I fish and catch them on a consistent basis.
  4. Will be fishing on Black Friday.
  5. I use the Uni or Uni to Uni Knot for most of my freshwater and saltwater fishing. Its very simple, strong, and can be tied in mere seconds in low light conditions.
  6. You should try fishing a spillway at least once during your vacation.Lots of bass in these spots, especially now with all the rain we got the past couple days.
  7. Looks like a 4 pounder
  8. Deadsticking jigs is a good technique to use on big bass.
  9. I agree with you @tennsopher that catching bass on a nest is not very sportmanlike at all,but some do it since their only shot at getting a trophy bass.I personally prefer to catch bass on artificials and most of my trophy bass have been caught this way from land in South Florida.
  10. Any bass over 8 pounds?
  11. Never too late to fish for Snook. They have very similar habits compared to bass. With all this rain many spillways are open. You have a good chance of getting Snook along with Bass over 8 pounds in these places...
  12. Solid Wipers!I love catching those fish.
  13. I agree with Dave,Snook fishing is good all year.If your goal is catching big ones(+40") you should fish in Inlets,Spillways, or anywhere there's current and a abundant supply of bait for the Snook to eat.
  14. Try Spinnerbaits,Propbaits,Chatterbaits.
  15. Down here we have Peacock Bass,Pacu,Redtail Catfish, etc. All of these fish will test how good anyone's bass tackle is.There's even a place in Central Florida that has Barrumundi. And I know what you mean by the penance, but it's a small price to pay to have great fishing year round.
  16. We are very fortunate to live and fish where we do, with so much selection to choose from both Freshwater and Saltwater. We even have large exotic fish from other continents to fish for.
  17. Snook fishing is definitely addicting that's for sure!Have caught many big Snook but still enjoy catching Bass.
  18. Only time will tell. There have been other "mythical" animals that have been proved to exist such as Oarfish and Giant Squid. My favorite are the Oarfish videos people put up on youtube. Now thats a catch of a lifetime!Lots of proof in those cases.I just hope people are honest in what they see and are not making stories up for attention.
  19. Like most exotic fish not much can be done to truly control their numbers. They have adapted extremely well to our waters and reproduce at a impressive rate. With that said go to the C-14 canal and surrounding areas.Lots of Snakeheads there.
  20. Ponds tend to be more affected by temperature and fishing pressure than larger bodies of water. When it's hot and sunny try to fish near heavy cover that is in deeper sections of the pond.Change lures and your retrieves until you find the lure/retrieve they respond to.You can also fish periods of low light, such as sunrise, sunset, and overcast days.Winter/Spring is approaching and with that comes better weather for bass fishing.
  21. Very interesting subject...I wonder how many of these sightings actually took place with solid proof that can be shown.
  22. Any rod that does the job and isn't overpriced.
