  1. That is a 5-5.25 pound bass.
  2. Peacock Bass are more fun to catch in general since they fight much harder than a largemouth bass of equal size.Even a 5 pound peacock bass will fight harder than a 10 pound largemouth bass. With that said,I rather catch another +10 pound largemouth bass than a peacock bass under 8 pounds .
  3. Caught and released a 32" grass carp yesterday with the technique I mentioned earlier.Wont hurt to give it a try and the grass carp lives to be caught another day.
  4. I have read that Blue Catfish over 200 pounds have been caught in the 1800's.They did catch a +140 pounder in Virginia a couple years ago.
  5. My cousins live near where you are going .He and his friends catch big bass from the shore often. I would first try bass fishing the pond you mentioned that has grass carp in it.Almost any pond over a acre down here has potential for a big bass. For carp you can use breadballs for bait on a size 4 hook.I like to use 8lb test mono for carp.
  6. Try the C-14 canal. Its loaded with bass and exotic fish.
  7. I have caught Grass Carp on bread balls. For tackle I use 8 pound test mono and a size 4 hook so I can enjoy the fight they give.
  8. Congratulations!
  9. Solid Bass! She is definitely beat up and looks like a old one.
  10. I recommend teaching your better half how to fish so she can join you fishing. She will be a reliable fishing partner that you can trust. You can also teach a reliable family member to fish with you.I have done this and it has made my fishing trips much more enjoyable.
  11. Have you tried night fishing your spots? It's a good tactic to use when there's warm weather.I went fishing for a couple hours after sunset today and caught lots of bass.Give nightfishing a try if you want to try something different.
  12. I agree with you that the unusual weather we have been having has seem to affected the fishing . Here in South Florida many bodies of water have high water levels. The temperature is also in the 80's with high humidity which makes it feel like early Summer.Still I have been catching lots of quality sized bass from the shore. What helps me is that I study every body of water I fish and do my best to figure out what lure /lure retrieval works in the areas I fish.
  13. The pound test you should use depends on a lot of factors, such as the type of cover you are fishing, size of lure ,and water visibility. I use as light as 8 pound test mono in clear water with little to moderate cover to 30 pound test mono when fishing murky water in heavy cover. You can use 30 pound test power pro in light /moderate cover and 50 pound test power pro in moderate/heavy cover.
  14. It was 85 degrees earlier today in South Florida.
  15. Yes I was quite shocked and happy at the same time since that was the first time that happened to me!After I took both lures off I released the Bass and it swam away quickly.
  16. Listen to your Doctor and do your best to stop smoking.
  17. Had something similar happen to me like that. I hooked a decent bass and it broke my line near a dropoff. A couple days later I went to the same spot with a different lure and caught the same exact bass with my other lure hanging from its mouth.I was shocked that this bass would hit so soon and I took both lures off and released it.
  18. I agree with you Geo that adjusting to weather changes is tough, but it's also extremely rewarding figuring out how to catch bass in these circumstances than catching bass when it's easy.
  19. I use Trilene BigGame Fishing Line
  20. It was in the 80's yesterday down here.
