  1. We got a couple of the exotic fish you mentioned down here and more!
  2. I agree with you Dave 100% on recommending ron to try snook fishing. Both of these fish have very similar habits so it will be easy for a decent bass fisherman to fish for snook. I have caught several big snook over 40" and agree that a snook of this range has much more power and endurance than any bass.If you enjoy bass fishing you will most likely enjoy snook fishing.
  3. Welcome to Florida!
  4. I also enjoy catching Bowfin and those who kill Bowfin for no good reason are fools. Bowfin fight much harder than a bass of equal size and are very fun to catch.
  5. I don't let the weather affect my decision to go fishing.I have fished in the cold, during heat waves,+35 mph winds, nonstop rain, and other less than favorable weather conditions. If I was up North I would go Ice fishing, it looks fun and is something I want to try some day.
  6. Bass fishing is a very cheap Sport once you realize what are the best lures that work in the area you fish.
  7. I fish with both lures and live bait for bass since my experience has taught me that there is a place and time for both of these tactics.Have caught most of my +10 pound bass on lures from the shore, and feel using lures is easier than live bait since it's less of a hassle.I also fish live bait and lures in saltwater.
  8. Don't pick up the phone if you see a number you don't have saved in your contacts . If it's important the caller will leave a voice message or text message for you. Don't call back if it's a message from someone you don't know.
  9. If I could only fish with one lure I would choose a bucktail jig since it's a great lure for both freshwater and saltwater fish.
  10. I have caught similar looking crawfish and other types of crawfish down here. The main ones I have caught had different shades of brown with claws that have orange, blue, green, and even red in it.I use to have a aquarium where I raised crawfish, they are quite interesting pets.
  11. The weather has been awesome down here the past couple days as well.Wish it can stay at 40-60 degrees for months but we only get these temperatures a couple times in the year.
  12. Crawfish can be found in most lakes and make great bass bait. You can keep them alive in a small bucket with a air pump or in a bucket with clumps of aquatic vegetation.
  13. Thank you for the report! That area is a great place to fish.Have fished there a couple times and always ended up catching a good amount of bass.Might go there again when the wind calms down a bit.
  14. You can make a bass look much smaller or bigger depending on the camera angle. These pictures have an angle that make the bass look bigger so it makes it hard to judge the weight.Weigh it next time or at the very least measure it's length and girth!
  15. Heavy Action Rod Size 5000-6000 Spinning Reel or Baitcaster reel of your choice 30 pound test braid with long topshot of 30-50 pound mono when needed Use wire leader for sharks This should be more than good enough for most freshwater catfish and most saltwater fish that can be caught from the shore.
  16. Solid bass!Hard to guess with just a picture and without a length and girth measurement.Looks to be at least 6-7 pounds, but could be more.It is hard to tell without a length and girth measurement!
  17. Solid bass!
  18. Great thread! I have several +20 year old rods that I still catch big bass and big saltwater fish on.They all have the same action as the first day I fished with them decades ago.
  19. I do not fish bass on nest, but I consider this +10 pound bass impressive since it was caught from the shore!
  20. Congratulations on catching a big bass from the shore!
  21. Your welcome!A boat is a big advantage but not needed for bass fishing here in South Florida. All the +10 pound bass I caught down here where from the shore.
