One of the things that I like to do a little different is, instead of using a normal line clip type dropshot weight, I use a lead or tungsten worm weight rigged with the point heading up the line towards the reel and peg it with bobber stop type pegs. This allows me to still easily change the length of my drop and I don't have to carry special tungsten or lead dropshot weights.

I own the Cara Swimjig rod. It is a nice rod but feel that it fishes a little different than it's ratings. I would say that it is more like a 1/4 - 1/2 oz rod. Like most Falcon rods it does not have a quick shutoff into the backbone and tends to be a little more parabolic. It fishes swimjigs well but I prefer the Head Turner even with it's shorter length.

I have a couple of setups that I fish the Ned Rig on. My favorite is the St.Croix LTB 6'10" MLXF it has a Pflueger Patriarch 25 with 10LB Super Slick 8 braid and a 6lb FC leader. The other is a St. Croix LTB 6'10" MXF with a Pflueger Supreme MGX 25 same line setup. I am fortunate enough to have several other very nice setups, but find myself reaching for these two more often than not.

I use 10# braid on my spinning reels.

Did not check, we typically only check to distinguish the difference between a white bass and a wiper. White bass have 1 tooth patch, Wiper have 2.

Maybe, that would make it a mean mouth if I am not mistaken.

Not a Hybrid if you mean a Wiper type Hybrid, they are very different than this, they also have two tooth patches on their tongues.

I kind of understand your point but not fully. I don't think that I would use my old ABU's for the same purposes I would use my LP reels for. For an easy 10 - 15 dollar fix he ends up with a great reel for fishing spoonbill, blue cat, flathead, large striper and large hard fighting saltwater fish that most LP reels would struggle with. I don't see a 5600 and Pflueger Supreme being used for the same purposes so maybe that is where our difference in opinion rest.

Unfortunately only some. But the ones that don't hunt still fish well and have a much different sound than most modern plastic crankbaits.

I hear what you're saying, what do you think makes today's 100 dollar reels, light years better?

Academy H2O jerkbaits fish well and have a nice finish.

Lots of salt in these baits, takes a while in the water before some of it disolves and they begin to float. You can speed the process if you stretch the bait a few times before rigging it.

You will most likely want an ultra light if you want to throw below 1/16th. These weights are commonly thrown on spinning equipment, so it's not unusual at all. Some of the better rods that are around your price range are the Fenwick River Runner and St. Croix Panfish series. Gander Mountain makes has a new panfish series that come in UL as well as the Cabelas XML series rods. You should have no problem finding what you are looking for.

Cosmetics, weight, drag, and some materials are different/better than the President. Very smooth, but so is the President, not a lot of difference in the Supreme. I own many Pflueger spinning reels and they all feel smooth to me.
