Not a Hybrid if you mean a Wiper type Hybrid, they are very different than this, they also have two tooth patches on their tongues.

Maybe, that would make it a mean mouth if I am not mistaken.

Did your fish have a patch on it's tongue?

Did not check, we typically only check to distinguish the difference between a white bass and a wiper. White bass have 1 tooth patch, Wiper have 2.

Spots have a patch too

Spots have a patch too

Was not aware of that, wish I would have checked now.

That thing sure has a tiny looking mouth. It could be some other kind of bass. I'd be willing to bet somebody on here will know what kind.

Had a very small mouth, don't know that I have ever seen one like it.

NOT a smallmouth. Spotted bass probably

Spot

Broken up line and jaw does not extend past eyeball.

Not even close to a smallmouth.

Look up a meanmouth if you wanna see a coolfish

Where was this bass caught?

Not a good photo to identify the species, it's doesn't any visual Smallmouth coloration, no bars. This bass has a dark patch (spot) at the end of the dark lateral line that is a spotted bass identifier, can't see if the dorsal fin is connected or where the jaw ends relative to the center of the eye.

It could be a Shoal bass or Red eye bass, depending the location where the bass was caught. Teeth on the tongue is a Spotted bass characteristic, not a Smallmouth.

What lake? Bourbon? Crawford? Ft. Scott?

It's a spot no doubt.

Small lake in Howard, KS - Polk Daniels

That is definitely a spot. Go fish Spring River down there. It is a spot/lmb river and starts out arount Mt. Vernon, MO as a smallie river.

My vote would be spot1

If both small mouth and spotted bass are in a body of water their hybid offspring are "mean mouth" bass....
