Menace and Owner Twistlocks
I figured what I ordered was too big. Now to run down and grab some 2/0 and 3/0 and figure out what I am going to use these 5/0 for.

Menace and Owner Twistlocks
I have never pitched jigs, craws or creatures before but wanted to try this weekend (small kayak tournament that I'm ok with trying new baits/techniques in). I ordered some Rage Tail Menaces, structure bugs and 5/0 owner twist lock flippin' hooks. They should be here Friday. Did I go too big on hooks? Plan on flipping around docks waaay more than heavy cover.

They have some 60% off codes right now too. That makes me want to buy one to try.

My Walmart is cheaper like that too, but it is normally because there are less senkos per bag. Make sure to check that before you stock up.

Best soft plastics 2016
Not my rod. My buddy killed me with with this setup. It was the oldest lightning rod and equally old reels. He laughed that my rod had 12 guides and his had 6. That setup is what got me buying Grande Bass products.

Best soft plastics 2016
That is one of the Grande Bass products I did not pick up. I did not see a big advantage over the box full of senkos and regular rattle snakes I bought. How are you rigging it to make it your number 1? When I run out of senkos I will probably pick some up.

Pedal drive kayaks
I sold my yak and I am waiting on the Pescador Pilot to come out. Any idea if the drive kicks up if you hit something? From the youtube videos it does not look like it.

Kayak fisherman's rod to reel ratio
- Few (of many) SOT Kayak Questions
In one of Chad Hoover videos he said he likes to use braid with leaders when fishing in a kayak. When setting the hook on a bass your kayak goes towards the bass a little (for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction). This is equivalent to line stretch like mono. Since braid has less stretch it helps with hook sets. I'm not saying Chad's word is the end all be all, but it made sense to me. I made the switch to braid with leaders and love it.- Latest Catch Pics Thread
I don't think it's my pb, but since it's my first on a scale I'm counting it as my pb. Caught on the whopper plopper 90 in Monkey Butt color right before the sun came up.- Swim jig rod
Im going the all braid and leaders route on my setups.- Swim jig rod
I have never thrown swim jigs before and after watching Matt Allens video it has me wanting to try them. I was reading up on them and found this saying you should use a MH moderate rod to throw swim jigs. Any opinion on this? Many times bass will swipe at a swim jig multiple times seemingly trying to stun the prey before eating it. The result is the most difficult strike to detect in all of fishing – the trailing strike, where a fish is coming directly at you. This type of strike feels like a very slight tug or the line simply goes slack. There is no distinct bite. These strikes are extremely difficult to feel with a fast action, 6’8” to 7’ medium-heavy rod, which is what most anglers use to fish spinnerbaits. The tip of a standard fast action medium-heavy rod simply won’t flex enough when retrieving the swim jig (since the swim jig has such little resistance in the water). This means the rod tip won’t noticeably relax when a fish strikes coming directly at you. You’ll miss a lot of strikes as a result. My preference now is to use a 7’4” to 7’6” medium-heavy/moderate action for heavy grass, or medium/fast action rod for situations with less grass. There are two important factors to these rods. First, the length allows you to “catch up” to a fish charging your lure. That extra rod length translates into sweeping much more line on the hook set. Second, the softer rod tip will flex more while retrieving the lure. When a bass charges the swim jig, that flexed rod will relax signaling a strike.- Upgrading electronics to tournament fish

I picked up 3 of the Quantum® EXO PT Casting Reel when cabelas had them for $99. I have been extremely happy with them. Im not sure how long they will last or how easy they will be to repair, but at $99 they were worth every penny.- Pedal drive kayaks
The Pescador Pro 100.- Pedal drive kayaks
I am looking at the Pescador Pilot for my next yak. I will say that the $1799 price tag is one of the main reasons, but watching all the youtube videos on it I dont think I am going to be missing anything the more expensive options have. I just sold my current kayak last week to buy the Pilot when it comes out.- Ready to buy a fishing kayak
I have used a Vibe Sea Ghost and those are very nice for the price. I bought a Pescador Pro 100 (at a GREAT price) and used it for a few weeks in some small tanks and it worked perfect. I am selling it tomorrow actually. I am holding off on getting a new one until the Pescador Pilot comes out and I think that is what I am going to go with. Im sure I will change my mind 100 times before it comes out though.- Go to Setup?
I am in the same boat as you. I am teaching myself. Youtube and members on here have been a huge help. I have PM's going with 2-3 members at a time asking them questions. Great people on this board. I fish out of my kayak and bring 3 rods with me when I go. I might up that when I get my bigger kayak. But right now I bring my wacky rigged senko rod (medium fast spinning), my texas rigged rod (MH fast casting) and usually have a big ewg worm hook on it ready to throw big worms and creatures and then the third rod is whatever I want to try out for the day. I am learning new techniques and that third rod is basically something I want to try. It has ranged from a rod to throw the whopper plopper, chatterbait rod, my squarebill rod, my heavy pitching setup or even my medium light rod for the ned rig and drop shot. Many of these could be thrown on the same rod, but I enjoy getting technique specific rods and learning new techniques. I am new too, but this post is just like the questions I have asked many members via PM. Good luck!!- Best rod for Fat ikas
Road Warrier How to you normally fish these on the MF spinning rod? Weightless with a 5/0 hook (or is that too big of a hook) Nvm..found it. 4/0 EWG Offset Worm Hook. I fish Gamakatsu, Trokar and XPoint.- New guy with a question about rod size in a kayak/canoe.
The overall size of the rod does not bother me when in my kayak. I do wish the rod handle (from the reel to the butt) was a few inches shorter. I think there is a rod company that makes a kayak rod where the butt end is adjustable by a couple inches. That looks like a good idea to me but I have not used one.- First time out with the whopper plopper 90
I actually bought this for my step son for that exact reason. Reel and set the hook.- First time out with the whopper plopper 90
I will try that. I always have a wacky rigged senko tied on. I'm in North Texas.- Looking for first Kayak, questions?
