  1. As many other people here have already recommended, I would try on a few different models of Costas. I have the Costa Fantails in 580p and absolutely love them! After having to replace the cheapos from Wally World every little bit, I decided to bite the bullet and buy a nice pair and I will never go back! Great investment.
  2. After alot of researching and looking at reviews, i've realized there is a ton of different choices when it comes to crankbait specific rods. Since the lake I fish most is very deep, im beginning to lean towards a MH instead of just a medium. May even wait until the big Spring sale from BPS and pick up a M/m and MH/m Crankin' Stick to cover all the bases.
  3. I have had luck with cranks/jerkbaits with orange belly but i don't think there is any color that is the best. Color is all specific to the water conditions in your water.
  4. Had to give in to the bait monkey a little this morning... Small order of random stuff but it will suit the monkey for a few days atleast
  5. 7" Berkley Power Worm in Red Shad
  6. Looking for a new crankbait rod to pair with a Lews in 5.4:1 gear ratio. Will be using for crankbaits generally in the 8-12' depth range, but would like a rod that is comfortable above and below that range. Looking in the ~$100-150 range. What is BR's opinions on these rods or do you recommend something different.... St. Croix Mojo Bass Glass Cranking Rod 7'4" Medium Duckett Ghost Cranking Rod 7' Medium Lew's Custom Speed Stick Crank Rod 7'2" Medium Opinions? Thanks
  7. Buy what you want the first time around and you will be much happier.
  8. Harvesting a deer with any weapon, Firearm or Bow, is extremely rewarding. In my opinion, the feeling from shooting a nice deer with a bow will give you a better feeling than dropping a deer from 300 yards away. Although the reward is higher, the skill needed is also higher, and you may spend your first season (or more) without getting that perfect shot on a deer. If you put in the time and effort scouting and patterning deer, and take the kill with the compound... i feel you will be much more satisfied.
  9. If i could pick any lake to go fish it would be a no brainer to go to EL Salto! So many great fish there.
  10. Congratulations! There went all future funding for the bait monkey
  11. I am looking to get one of the BPS Gore tex suits...
  12. I'm 21 and hopefully not going through a midlife crisis. Beginning of the summer I put my Ascend FS10 up for sale and bought a real boat. I bought a 1999 Bass Tracker with a 75hp Johnson and I've never looked back! Its a night and day difference. So many new spots i was not able to travel to before. With it being aluminum I feel safe taking it on my local river for trout fishing and its also got enough speed to travel to the other side of the lake for bass fishing. It is alot less work than the kayak. In my opinion, the ONLY downfall would be cost. Boat can be as expensive as you want them to be.
  13. I would recommend the Cabelas ProGuide PTC. The PTC comes in a variety of lengths in L and UL. They are based on use for Panfish, Trout, and Crappie. I have a light and ultralight, both in 7' lengths and use them a lot for trout and crappie fishing. For IM6 graphite they are very sensitive. I have both of them rigged with 1000 size Shimano spinning reels. They should have any size you are looking for and be well below your max price.
  14. 7" Berkley Powerworm in red shad Texas rigged with 3/16 weight
  15. My first ever St. Croix rod and it seems like it is going to be a very nice combo. Feels perfect to cast. 12lb Trilene mono. Going to be a light T-Rig setup.
  16. Once on plane it continues to run like a champ and won't stop until you let off the throttle. Only at low rpm range trying to start taking off. Yes it does have the fixed orifices. Looks like I may need to take the carbs back off and check them all one more time. Also had a local mechanic mention using non ethanol 93 . I have been using ethanol 93 with seafoam. Think this would have any positive effects?
  17. I have a 6'6" Shock Medium and love it. Very sensitive for the price range.
  18. Hello BR, I am new to bass resource and just recently bought my first boat. I have a 99 Bass Tracker Pro Team 175, with a 1976 Johnson 75 horse. I have been having a slight issue with my engine that i wanted suggestions on what your ideas on a fix are... When engine is cool I have no issues and it will start and take off fine no problem. When the engine is warmed up, if I stop and then try to give it throttle, the engine will bog out and die. If you feather the throttle and get it passed a certain " point " the engine will take off fine and run with no issues. Only happens when engine is warm. From a stop to WOT it will most always bog down and die when engine is warm. -I have rebuilt all three carbs with their respective kits -Always run Seafoam through each tank of fuel -Checked that my prop was the correct size for engine (13.25x17) -Changed plugs (twice actually) -Changed Thermostat I know the engine is a bit older in years but with the way it runs once it is past that certain rpm point I am stumped on what it may be. It will take off and run great when engine is cool (Ex. first backing into water or after motor has set not running for an extended period) Any ideas for what to try next?
  19. I understand when a good fish has a bad picture.. Often you don't even realize that picture looked SO bad until the big one is safely swimming back to its hiding hole
  20. Just ordered a 7' Medium (Fast) St. Croix Mojo Bass from their bargain section. $89 TYD isnt bad at all imo. Had to get a new reel for it as well so went with the Laser MG Speed Spool in 7.1:1. Gonna Set up for some lighter worm/jigs
