  1. Looking for information on who makes buoyant or floating plastics. I have found that the Havoc bottom hopper floats and I've had great success with it as a shakey hd setup. Now I'm looking for something that either floats or suspends for C-Rigs in a larger profile like a craw, creature, etc. Any ideas?
  2. IMHO, that's too long and heavy for shakey hd. My recommendation would be a mid 6' Medium Fast or XFast spinning rig with a 2500 series reel and 8lb Floro. Yes, I prefer the Avid X
  3. I use a med power/Mod fast spinning rod for Jerkbaits (with trebles). If your talking soft plastic jerkbaits with single hooks, you can use any med or MedHvy fast action. Spinning gear is fine (and more economical) for these applications.
  4. I have a set, they work great except that the side seam in the bibs split last year. Mind you , that could be a sign of my putting on weight..lol
  5. How about a Tatula on a Dobyn's Champion??
  6. Yes, both very nice... I prefer the IMX over the LTB... But for you to know, you really need to have both in your hand (with the reel on) and see how it feels. That's the best you're going to get short of a "Test Drive".
  7. I want to increase my tournament presence this year and I was wondering if anyone can recommend good bass tournaments in Ontario.
  8. You should be able to DIY. When they do a car they drill several small (1/4"?) holes at the top of any hollow panel and door and then they spray the product inside. Its best to apply it during the summer when its hot so the product can creep into all the little nooks and crannys...lol Then they plug the hole with a plastic cap/plug. You may be able to find this stuff online. You want something that is a Water Displacer (IE WD-40) with a rust prohibitor.
  9. Good decision. Sorry I didn't see your post earlier but there's no comparison between the 2 model. Actually, I surprised that there's only a few $k difference in price. The ranger will perform better, will have a better layout, will last longer, and have wayyyy better resale. Any a way better trailer!
  10. There's a reason why top end boat and boat trailer manufactures no longer sell box frame trailers. Most are using I beam or channel beam construction for 2 reasons. i) it will not hold moisture and or water ii) you cannot paint (protect) the inside of a box frame, so it will rust regardless. If this is something you're keen on protecting then I would recommend getting it sprayed with an oil type rustproofing. Being from Canada, where our vehicles are constantly under attack from salt and moisture caused by condensation, there are several rust proofing technologies. Rust Check is the one I prefer. Also, I'd recommend it be applied every year for the first 3, then every second yr after that.
  11. I love the champion and champion extreme. But I wouldn't call them "lower end offerings"
  12. SI would be very helpful... but only if you know how to use it properly. I agree with DI tho, if you know how to read sonar, that's all you need at your depths. Also, check out the new HB Helix series. Fantastic image quality.
  13. Yes, maybe the Curado 200 would be a better fit. The 70 is probably better suited for a lighter application. Even though 85yds of 12lbmono/50lb PP is plenty FWIW, I have a Tatula Type R 8.1:1 on my flippin stick and its fantastic.
  14. Personal preference but I'd gladly burn the extra $90 and I love Dobyn's.. IMHO, I find that the lower end Dobyns and Loomis rods aren't the best value. At the Fury/Savvy pricepoint, I'd be looking at a Fenwick Aetos or the Avid X.
  15. Do it! Curado 70 (8.2:1) with 50 or 65 lb Power Pro would be a perfect HD setup for Flippin/Punchin/Froggin/Hvy Pitchin/Big swimbaits-Swimjigs/Big Football heads in deep water... did I miss anything???
  16. I have not had these specific problems but I have had issues with sunglasses that I've bought online. Are they an authorized dealer? Sounds like you're paying top $$ so they should be. if they are not, send them back and buy from an authorized dealer. That way Costa will cover you if you have any issues down the road. Regardless, send them back, you can bet they'll go over the next pair they send you with a fine toothed comb.
  17. LOL, You're not helping!! Enabling maybe but not helping...
  18. For a few $$ more you can move up to the Ci4 version.
  19. Anyone who's seen some of my recent post know that I've been on a bit shopping spree this month. I'm a bit of a "deal junkie" so enough said about that! My most recent purchases include a IMX 954C FPR, a GL2 854C, Calcutta 200d, and a Chronarch HG Ci4. now someone I know is selling their Dobyns Champion 765 Flip.... Should I sell the GL? Do you think the Dobyns would be a better compliment to the IMX? I'm thinking that compared to the IMX, the Dobyn's would be sweet for lighter flippin/Pitchin, deep water jigs, swimbaits, C- Rigs, etc. Also, what would you think about putting the Calcutta 200 on the Dobyns?
  20. I only have 2 spinners that take 8llb test...lol Great ideas everyone. Thanks as always
  21. Fair enough but I fish from a boat and in shallow water as soon as a bass spots the boat, its gone!
  22. After hearing great things I bought a spool of 8lb Tatsu for my spinning rigs (Dropshot/Finess/Lite to Med jigs/Shakey hd). As everyone know this stuff is stupid expensive and my size 2500 reels will hold about 140 yds of the stuff. The Tatsu comes in 200yd spools which means that about 30% will be wasted. What about putting 100yds on 2 spools, using something like Big Game mono (I have 2 bulk spools of 8lb) as a backing? To ensure an even spread between reels, what would your process look like? TIA.
  23. I prefer the Yum Sharp Shooter.
  24. Any form of topwater has to be my favorite for any species. 2nd would be deep drop shotting on my 7'6" ML Aetos w/6lb test.
