Tackle Management - Recommendations
That's exactly what I plan to do..:) Spent the morning desecrating my walleye system an I'm very impressed with the 7771 for bass gear. The only potential issue I see is that the top of mine is already full of plastics...:-D. Other than that I have one 3700 filled with hooks, weights, and jig heads, one with topwater and jerks, one with cranks and best of all, one empty tray. Thanks again to special engineer for the original idea... I'm just glad I had one that I could test drive. Cheers!

Baitcaster Reels By Application
In very general terms, my approach is as follows: 5.x -> Crank Baits, Swimjigs/baits, 6.x -> Spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, small/shallow cranks, C rigs. 7.x or 8.x -> Techniques when you need to take up a lot of line fast. My idea of this is when a technique generates slack line like jerk baits, T RIgs, Jigs, Pitchin, Flipin, Punchin, Frogs, topwater, etc. Also its nice to have the speed for pulling fish out of cover. Not much different to what others are sayin but there's merit to buying only 6.x's.. versatility and flexibility as you can use them for anything.

Hybrid Multi-Species Options?
I was in the same boat (haha) as you last year and I ended up buying a Larson 1750fx. Its a dual console, has a very large casting platform, and a deeper cockpit area than a bass boat. I use it for walleye, pike, bass, and muskie and it will get a pair of downriggers next spring for Lake Erie. I compared it to a Lund Impact the same day. The larson was more fun! The front deck is also higher, more like a bass boat. And its Glass!!! Everyone I take out compliments me on how dry the ride is and the performance. I get just over 50 WOT and it cruises great in the low 40s. Specs are as follows: 2013 Larson FX 1750 DC sport package. Merc 150 4 stroke Merc 9.9 Pro Kicker MK Terrova 80 with iPilot HB 858c HD Di (helm) - Upgrading to a Helix 9 w/SI HB 859 (bow) Navionics + MK PC345 on board charger Sure its no Ranger FS, but its almost 1/2 the price! Good luck with search.

Need Some Crankbait Rod Advice
Ok lets spend a second discussing what makes a "Crankbait Rod" rather than just throwing out the make/model of our favorites.. It has been my experience that crankbaits, either trolled or cast, are better served with a moderate action rod. Many labeled as such come in a Mod or Mod/Fast action. Also in this case, sensitivity is not a paramount concern as cranks are typically reaction style baits and you will instantly know when you get a hit. With the slower action, the rod blank loads up when pulling a crank. This action helps with keeping the small trebles "hooked up" until you can respond. For example, for smallmouth season opener I troll 2 crankbait rods with scatter raps. The rods are in holders and I troll just under 2mph. When a fish hits, I have plenty of time to get the rod out of the holder and to set the hook. Something I was far less successful with using a fast action rod. Regarding jerk bait fishing, this isn't the best setup as most hits come from the pause and you'll want a fast tip and sensitivity for it. Also, there's a huge debate on whether mod/fast is best for spinnerbaits as well. Some think yes, others think a fast tip is better because of the large single hook (like a jig)... My mission next season is to come up with an answer on this that works for me. I use the older model graphite Mojo Bass MH 7'. It works well for both casting and trolling mid sized cranks. Therefore, IMHO, a 7' or longer, medium fast, Med-Hvy, glass or graphite, should fit the bill. Mono, floro, or briad? well that's an entire different discussion..lol

Tatula Tactical Vs Curado I Anyone Own Both?
Pesonally, I find the lower and mid range (price wise) Daiwas better than the SHimanos when it come to low profile reels. When you go Ci4 and above, the shimanos take the lead. Just my 2 cents.

New Reel - Can I Put More Line On?
As everyone said here, yes you can and in most cases you should.... But for certain applications what you have will work fine. If its mostly used for short distance casting/pitchin/flippin and jiggin' etc. you're fine with the way it is. Next time you re-spool, then fill er up like recommended.

Electronics- Leave On Or Take Off
I leave mine installed on the boat as it usually has the travel cover installed but I plan on getting a matched set of Durasafe Gimbal locks. I wouldn't leave them in plain sight tho as someone may want to steal it just because it looks neat and expensive. The problem with the bigger graphs is that they are not that easy to disconnect, there's usually 3 -4 unique cables that you have to line up and if you have 2 - 3 graphs, a big PITA.

Tackle Management - Recommendations
Point taken but that is just what I was attempting to prevent. I figured with all the experience on here that I may get lucky and find the "holy grail" of bass tackle management. I agree that perfection doesn't exist but it can get pretty close... but then again, I drive an Audi.. :leisures-and-sports-076:

Tackle Management - Recommendations
Hi everyone, It seems that I've out grown my Bass tackle box and looking to you (the eggsperts... on what the best bass tackle management system out there. I'm currently using a vintage Flambeau Strike Force (Bass Masters Classic Edition) I bought at BPS over 20 yrs ago I fish for both Largies and Smallies and this will be a Bass dedicated kit. The bass tackle I use consists of the following; Spinner/Chatter/Buzz baits Plastic worms, craws, swim baits, etc Multiple types of jig heads, weights, swivels, snap swivels, etc A large selection of hooks (offset/swim jig/drop shot/finesse) All types of hard baits (long/short/Fat/Skinny) Hollow body frogs Flippin and swimmin jigs I like to be very organized so I can capitalize on my time on the water. This means that keeping complimentary things together if possible. I'm sure I'm not the only type A fisherman in the world... Thanks in advance! Patrick.
