  1. I'm looking to replace a 2500 symetre on my dropshot/finesse rod - Aetos 7'6" ML/XF. First and foremost, I want something that will balance nicely and has an awesome drag. Can be 1000 or 2500 size. I'll be spooling 6lb Tatsu. Patriarch 25? Stradic? Sustain? JDM? Recommendations?
  2. Some say that the drag will be better on the 2000 because of the larger spool diameter... I'm not sure this is the case on a high quality reel. My recommendation would be to put both on the rod and see how it feels/balances. That's the only way to know for sure.
  3. Sooo I opted for Sunline FC Sniper in 14lb. I'll let everyone know my thoughts after next week's trip.
  4. Where in canada are you from? You can get Rod Gloves here for about the same price once you factor in the exchange. I have the mesh type and the neoprene type. Both have their merits. Send me a PM and I can help with your selection
  5. I've had some issues with floro on a BC in the past but I didn't use a line conditioner. Regardless of cost, what would you recommend for a 3 power Jig and Worm setup? I have a 5 power pitchin' stick w/braid so this setup is a touch more finesse. Between my spinning setup and pitchin' stick. I DON"T want to do braid with a leader so pls dont suggest that. This rod will be primariy for senkos, T rigs, etc in clear water. Most of the casting will be pitchin' and underhand style. DX743C w/MGEtreme. TIA!
  6. I ended up ordering a MGXtreme for a great price on ebay (from japan). I know this reel isnt' that popular on this site but that's what I went with. I'll report out at the end of the summer on how much I like it.. Regarding line, i"m going to try 14lb floro. Something mid range price wise. I use KVD line conditioner so this should do it. Thanks for the recommendations.
  7. After a lengthy discussion with Gary I've decided on a DX743 C for my jig/worm rod. Any thoughts on a reel and line??
  8. How do you affix your dividers in your plano stowaways? I try to cut them apart with a bit of flashing left on it for a snug fit but sometimes they just break off clean and then they don't fit tight. Not sure if a super glue would work on that material either. Thoughts?
  9. Deep cycle or cranking? I had 2 Walmart group 29 deep cycle branded Everstart Maxx and they were awesome!. Walmart's Maxx line is higher quality than their standard lineup. I would not hesitate to buy them again.
  10. Thats what I meant...lol Sorry for any confusion :\
  11. IF your 3 batteries are wired in series to provide 36 volts they should all be the same size and same age. Therefore its critical that you ensure that the electrolyte level is topped up and that you keep them all fully charged with not in use. Especially during the off season. IF its a DualPro charger, that's good news as their customer support is fantastic. Also, these chargers will have 3 separate charge modules so you only have to replace the defective one. If its in fact your charger.
  12. Looking for the right reel. Budget wise I want something worthy of this great stick so I'm thinking Steez or Abu MGXtreme. Prob. in 8:1. Primary Use: Pitchin stick for Bass Big Jigs and Big Spinner-baits for Bass and Pike Secondary: Bubba Shot C-Rig
  13. Looking for line recommendations for my new DC703/Metanium HG combo. I have a spool of 15# PP Slick. Thoughts?
  14. What is the best line cutter (braid) What is the best fishing specific pliers? What other "fishing specific" tools do you have on your boat? Not interested in hearing about prop wrenches, flashlights, screwdrivers etc....:) TIA
  15. HB, Lowrance, and Garmin all make good products. One thing I find invaluable is the addition of a chart card. Some of the lower end units do not support this and the factory maps/charts are terrible. Navionics + is the one I use.
  16. Not correct! Dropshotting usually means an angry smallmouth on light line, sometimes out of 40 FOW. A good drag is paramount!
  17. Shimano Ci4 (or better!) 1000 series spooled with 6lb Tatsu.
  18. Personally, I find the Aetos to be a better quality rod. With that being said, I believe any type of moving bait is best served by a more moderate action.
  19. Agreed, already own one but I like to have a variety of different reels. I see some guys with a number of the same reels, I'm the opposite, I prefer a wide variety (not sure why exactly..lol). The only reel I have multiples of is the Chronarch Ci4 and the Stradic Ci4, and then its only 2 of each. This will prob. be the one. I can get it from Digitaka for $250.
  20. 2 votes for Daiwa, 2 for Shimano.... So far I'm leaning towards the Zillion. The finesse reels aren't on my list.
  21. Decided on a DX 745C for my pitchin' needs and as everyone knows, you need a super smooth reel for a pitchin setup if you want distance. This will be for jigs and rigs 3/8 oz and up and bubba shot - mainly around cover or deep water. I don't really want to spend more than $350us. For context this will fill the slot between a DC 703C paired with a Metanium HG (JWR) and an IMX 945C FPR (Flip/Punch/Frog) paired with a Tatula type R. TIA!
  22. Just bought a 4 pack of Rigraps. I'll do a 18", 24", 36", and 48" rig with a swivel already attached. Seems pretty easy and a lot nicer than an old ass-wipe tube sitting in my TB...lol
  23. Looking for something to go between my IMX 956C FPR and Champion 734C. The IMX is paired with a Tatula Type R (8.1:1) and the Champ is paired with a Chonarch Ci4 HG. I'm considering either a DX 795 Flip or a DC 765 Flip. Undecided on a reel but something that casts (pitches) super well and is around 8:1. If I could only find a good deal on Met MGL XG would be awesome The IMX is a beast of a rod so it'll be used for Punchin, Frogs, and Deep, heavy cover Bubba Shot. The 5 power would be my main go to flippin/pitchin setup. Thoughts?
  24. Ah I found what I'm looking for. Its called Rigrap...
