no weight on the jigs lol

Ive been fishing football jigs and texas riging some worms with a bullet 1/8 ounce weight on 12# YZ hybrid and have lost 4 jigs in one day this week with a few plastics. The bottom of the lake ive been fishing is pretty rocky. Am i just getting unlucky or is there something on the retrieve i need to be doing?

So i am going bass fishing tomorrow in northern California and I am curious to peoples progression. Since the water will be about 50 degrees should i start with a crank bait then move to jerk bait then on to soft plastics or jig? What progression do you guys use and why?

Thanks for all the advice!! i am now looking into a used boat with a 04' Tracker Super guide V 14 C thats in pretty good shape with finder and live well for about 5000. I am going to look at it this week and take a buddy of mine who has a boat with me. I think this will be a great first boat and i think it will be good to take out on my own learn and in a few years i can always sell/upgrade.

ok I was looking at the 25hp possibly the 40hp i think thats what is offered in my area. They are i was also looking at some lowe boats and having those added were an option but its included in the Tracker. As for fishing areas i got two pretty big lakes up here in norcal, Berryessa and clear lake, those would be about it unless i make an out of town trip but wont happen often. Just going to be Me and a friend mostly possibly take 3 out on it but that wont be often as well.

what problems do you run into with less power?

I have never owned and taken care of a boat before. I was doing some research online and this seems like a great first boat. It looks like ill be able to purchase it by spring. If anyone one has any tips on the buying/ maintenance that would be great. Also is it worth the dealership to install the steering cables and weld on transducers? or is that something i will be able to do myself? Thank you!

I got an orra sx set up for worms and jigs, i was thinking about this setup for some top water and frogs, possibly big swim baits for stripers.

Ya i just got the orra sx and the black max is going to be an extra top water set up maybe some heavy swimbaits for stripers.

I upgraded reels and i am thinking about putting 50lb braid i have laying around on my Black Max. Anyone think this is too heavy of a line for that reel? and will it damage it?

I've been fishing stripers for over a year now off a tidal river out on the west coast. Biggest I've seen this year is a 40lb coming out of the Napa river.My biggest one this year is a 30 incher. I go off the bank normally ,sometimes a boat. I run a Tiger ugly stik Heavy with a bullet proof of a reel, the shimano TR-200G with 25# line and a 50lb leader 3-8 oz weight depending on the current. The reel is 64 bucks online and is an amazing reel for the price. I know alot of charter boats out here run those. I normally set up two hooks on the leader and throw whatever bait out. Rod has good action hard to miss a striper bite, since they smack it pretty hard. Also I run a M/H stick with some 50lb braid for some swimbaits I've caught a few on late at night if I hear them feeding on top that night.

I just got into bass fishing and only got setup for now but i used 12# Yo Zuri hybrid since i think that can be a good all around line. Am i wrong?

i have looked into this Yo Zuri hybrid line that i guess is the best of both worlds when it comes to flouro and braid. i saw a thread about this and seems like alot of people have only a good thing to say about this line

Hey guys been fishing for about a year now mostly sturgeon and strippers off a tidal river now getting into bass. I just picked up a 6ft 6 Fenwick HMX M/fast with an Abu Garcia orra sx reel. Now that its winter time what tackle and line would you guys suggest? Thanks
