  1. is your head spinning yet ? there are probably 2 dozen rods that will fit for you.....i'll throw my 2 cents in and say that my kistler carbon steel mh will do what you want, the dobyns fury is a good choice, okuma citrix is good, - for a lower budget , abu vendetta is decent.....different makers have different feels, so it is very hard to say what you like without being in your hands....some mh are a little more forgiving than others, and some med are a little bit stiffer, and lenghts can change the feeling as well...a 6-8 or 6-9 with a med fast tip on a mh rod may be want you want,
  2. i'm mostly a spinning gear guy, but i have a lews bb1 and a bb1 pro....would these reels be something to tune up, and would i see a big difference ? also, whats the tune up consist of and how much ?
  3. i've picked up those bucca rods so many times and thought , man , these are nice , but they just seem a lot lighter than they are rated....i've really never seen too much mention of them on forums
  4. good deal with the Houston rod then....I stand corrected ! like i said , sometimes you find a hidden gem - just hope you didn't do any damage trying to break it because of my comment !! haha ...tight lines !
  5. definitely a difference...worth the extra$, which really isn't a ton to begin with - just easier to find a bargain on the lesser part. .I appreciate your effort in helping me out....
  6. thank you Wayne....i've read about the image quality, just didn't know how much of a difference there was
  7. looking for transducer for 898 c si finder ....my questions are , 1. does it have to be a hd transducer to work with side imaging and will another model work ? and 2. is the trolling motor transducer function the same as the transom mount with just a different bracket ?
  8. no.... i just held one and got that impression , but i could be totally wrong - the graphite rods that i have feel very light, but at the same time , more beefy .....the very high modulus number on a graphite rod that is not made by a high end rod brand can be a lot more brittle because of the lack of more expensive technology in the structure of the rod....i've seen comments where these cheaper rods can be nicked or stressed easily , which leaves a vulnerable breaking point ...on the other hand , sometimes you may run into something that is built very well , but winds up on the bargain rack because it just never gets the credit it deserves....but for 10 bucks, you can put it to the test !!!
  9. that happens a lot....try asking about a particular reel and watch the shimano guys go nuts....
  10. bb1 and bb1 pro .....excellent.....what brand of rod do you suppose carlm01 would go with ??
  11. the houston rod......probably gonna snap like a twig......the kvd - excellent deal
  12. echo - president reel....never used a lightning rod, but abu garcia vendetta and vengeance are also decent starting rods
  13. south meadow pond from shore today....waited for sun to heat water up a little.... but then the winds came. caught a 1.5 # on shadow rap shad as well as a nice crappie , then a 2.75 # on a chatterbait in less than three feet in a "not as windy" spot
  14. i've been trying to find one that is the least visible so i dont have to use fluoro at all ( except for dropshot maybe) i just put some p-line fluoroclear on for this reason - 10 # on a spinning reel with a 1/4 - 3/8 jig....so far so good - any feedback on visibility amongst copolymers ?
  15. it's like asking a home depot employee about building materials......they can take a vaguely educated guess
  16. bananas are really good for you
  17. have both plus two more presidents - great reels.....i just saw the abu garcia orra s get pretty good reviews also - 70 bucks
  18. none of this whole thread really said anything......but i did get a good list of more youtube channels to check out - thanks guys ! BTW - glenn's pretty good
  19. in fishermen....lots of species besides bass , those guys know how to fish anytime, anywhere, any fish
  20. i do have a mitchell 308 pro....a great reel also i appreciate everyone's input - i have a lot of the reels that were mentioned....i'm looking for feedback on the reels i started the thread with ....
  21. thanks....i'll check that out - scoring a good deal helps a bunch in these decisions !!
  22. decided to get the revo....i have pflueger, shimano, mitchell, had a lews cheaper model...and i also have a team gold 2000 that i like....looking for experience for comparison...never used a revo......might also get a supreme....can never have enough reels - not done yet....i'll start into the higher end stuff next season -
  23. agree with pflueger - i have three presidents, and also think highly of them...
