My poor family.....
And I thought I was ornery for shooting my sisters with the toy cannon I got for Christmas one year! Love it!!

Pitchmen we have known and loved, or despised
The car dealer in the Ft Myers area selling Kia's. Always seen with "Caroline" and ends with the line "it's gonna be huuuuuge Caroline". Guy makes me cringe every time, like a throw back to the sleazy car dealer days.

Eagles Guitarist Glenn Frey Dies At 67
I am shocked to see this. I loved his voice and rhythm guitar playing on so many of their songs. I don't usually say this about famous people who pass but Glenn's passing leaves I large void in the music world.

How many still buy and use old style crankbaits?
I still fish primarily with older Bagley or Sisson crankbaits, even though I have a lot of Strike King and Bomber baits. The medium running Bagley's are great for catching bass in the 5-9' range. As long as what I have keeps producing fish I'll stay with them.

Massive cold front has arrived!
Thankfully the wind died down over night as the wind chill is "only" -13 this morning. Supposed to get up to 9 by this afternoon. Oh well, January is half over now so Spring isn't too far away.

Massive cold front has arrived!
Well, after a very mild December here in Ohio, old man winter has arrived with a vengeance tonight. Outside temps near zero with minus 25 wind chills. Heard screws popping out on the deck today, now that's cold. Gonna be brutal getting out and walking into work in the morning, straight into this killer west wind. Hope it's nice and warm in your neighborhood. One more winter after this one and its adios to snow and ice and hello Gulf of Mexico!

$$$ Saving Ideas
I've learned to save money by staying focused on what catches fish for me and staying with that vs spending a fortune on the latest "gotta have it" lures. That's one advantage of getting older in that you've been around long enough to know what works to catch fish and not the fisherman! My tackle boxes are filled with a lot of older lures in traditional colors that have proven effective for me in the areas I frequently fish. I use primarily Yum ribbon tail worms in three colors. Same with plastic craws. Spinner baits in white, chartreuse, and black or blue. I quit trying to have every blade combination and now use either Colorado or Willow blades only. Topwater baits in frog, black,or something shad colored. I buy lures on EBay but I am very rigid when it comes to the price I'll pay for used lures. It's amazing how much people will pay for used lures, but I refuse to get caught up in that. A lure would have to be very special to get $10.00 of my money, and that includes shipping! These are just some of the ways I save money on my gear.

Adele Carpool
Pure talent that one. One of the best voices I've ever heard. Just hope success doesn't do to her what it seems to do to so many.

Lost my brother
I found out first hand 15 years ago how the insurance industry was changing. I had open heart surgery after a heart attack.Went in the hospital on Monday morning, and was sent home Friday morning. When I questioned this I was told it was because of insurance coverage stipulations. I'm sure it's gotten much worse since then.

Hand tied bass jigs
Not to hijack the OP's thread, but does anyone know where I could have custom jigs made if I supplied either a sample jig or the materials to make them? I'm wanting a special jig made for me that used to be made commercially a long time ago.

Hunting Night Crawlers !!!!!!!
I don't have them in my yard for the same reason. They don't like all the fertilizers and weed killing products that get sprayed on my yard. I'm surrounded by farm fields and if I don't treat the yard it wants to revert back to weeds.

Lost my brother
I'm very sorry to hear that you've lost your brother. I know what that feels like. Time and support from those around you will take some of the sting out of it,mostly time...

Oil Is Getting Crushed!
I'll be the first to admit that I don't understand in detail how the price of a barrel of oil can have such a huge impact on Wall Street, but my 401k is testimony that it does. I really do feel for anyone in the oil industry right now, especially since there's no relief in sight.

Favorite Smallmouth technique
My favorite smallie technique is to use a guido bug type craw rigged weedless or a small crank bait if they're really active. Dropping a plastic craw into a brush pile or edge of a weed line is killer.

Hunting Night Crawlers !!!!!!!
I have wonderful memories of going out with my dad and catching a bunch of night crawlers before going fishing the next day. What might seem silly to others are often the things that stick with us for a life time.

Hey Spoonpluggers
Uh huh. You might say Buck Perry gets really "deep" into the subject.

How do you feel about swivels?
Only time I use a swivel is when I'm casting along the shore at the beach on the Gulf coast of Florida. I use braided line and a 20# fluorocarbon leader connected by an 80# swivel. Works great for what I'm after.

Hey Spoonpluggers
Sorry, can't help you but it was great to just see the word Spoonplug! Haven't heard about them since the days of Fishing Facts magazine in the 60's and 70's!

Where's All The Angling Guitar Players?
Two things: if you're playing an acoustic guitar you must have it set up by a pro in order to get the action just right. Lowering the string height at the nut is super critical,as is the proper saddle height. The proper neck relief is also critical. Secondly, practice practice practice. If your fingers and hand muscles are a bit weak just keep going and before you know it you'll be there!
