Male or female?
Outside of California and Texas no one has. I don't buy George Perry's fish tale for a second. 2+2=4, no fish, no witness, no picture? Try that angle today and see what record you come home with. California has Northen/Florida hybrids, trout, and perfect growing weather 365/24/7 with deep water. The south is hot and shallow. To dismiss using a giant male breeding with giant females would go against genetic studies and history. Texas is deliberately trying to grow world record fish. Eventually it's going to happen.

Lewis Smith Lake?
I've only fished it twice so far, but it fishes the same as any deep reservoir loaded with spots. Main lake points, channel breaks into the main lake, flats connected to the main lake, big rocks, transition spots on the bank, and the backs of creeks at the in-flow all had fish. In the fall they will be under docks. They take longer to get active again after the spawn so fish little. A Ned rig, finesse jig, or something tiny like a Custom Leech will get you numbers. If you shaky head run a 4" worm. If you're looking to catch big fish throw a jig to the bank, swimbaits across points, and nail weighted wacky Senkos in open water.

Male or female?
You would have to assume Texas will produce the next world record fish. They are breeding enormous fish together. I still don't understand why this isn't being practiced everywhere. The results are already amazing.

Shasta Lake Report 4/15
I miss that lake already and that's the most water I have ever seen in it! In the zillion times I have fished there I don't think I've landed more than five smallmouth. That's a crazy amount for one day!

Male or female?
The smaller ones no, the bigger ones yes. My buddy caught this last year during the peak of the pre-spawn. This is the biggest Northern Strain male I have ever seen and it fought like you wouldn't believe. They just look like a little bass, blown up.

I use the same.

High producing Jig colors for midwest??
Craw, green pumpkin, PB&J, and black&blue will everywhere in the universe. Even if you go bass fishing in the Crab Nebula those four colors will work. They will even work in Canada.

I pull bass out of anything from about 18" to 100' depending on the time of year.

Swinging Jig Head
Keitech Crazy Flapper is my most productive bait on it. When I'm trying to find a kicker I use a Rage Anaconda or a 12" lizard. Anything that wiggles a lot will work.

Best chatterbait hands down
I like turtles.

Metanium MGL vs Aluminium Daiwa Steez vs Conquest 100
What makes a Metanium or Steez salt ready over anything else? You have to do the same maintenance on every bass caliber low profile baitcaster once you fish in salt.

Metanium MGL vs Aluminium Daiwa Steez vs Conquest 100
Revo MGXtreme 2. It's 4.5oz, has way nicer handle knobs, stocked with ceramic spool bearings which the others don't have, and the profile of the reel is smaller.

Is it just me?
I can't stand it as a main line. I do like it for leaders though. I've been told it transmits bites better on weightless plastics over braid, but I didn't find that to be true. If you don't know how to fish weightless plastics and just let them fall on complete slack then maybe, but line doesn't make up for bad technique.

Shimano Citca vs Daiwa Tatula CT. Which one? Any other reel for under $150?
A Lew's Tournament MB for under $150 is hard to beat.

Tiny trailers
I take the cheapo Big Bite Senko knock offs and cut them in half. Cut an X in it cross from the hook. Make the cut about 1/2" up the bait from the tail. Remove the top and bottom from the X. It looks like a little craw pincher and you get the slightest little flutter on the fall. It works year round.

New To Shaky Jig Head Fishing For LMB:
These are what I use mostly. I really like them, but these aren't like spot removers. You have to bring the mustard when you set the hook.

Good soft body swimbaits
I catch fish like crazy on the 4" Speed Shad, but the 6" has been pretty tough sledding. They have great action, just haven't caught much. I hope you do better.

Found the M.O.A.B.
I love that reel.

Is a spincast reel still a legit option?
I caught my first 5lb largie on a Zebco 33 with a white Mepps spinnerbait when I was in first grade. The reel completely locked up and my dad and grandpa made me hand line it the rest of the way in. I demanded an upgrade and soon after had a shiny new Daiwa Ultracast. I still have that bad boy.

Way to kill my dream...you could be right though. I do catch most of my Senko fish dead sticking.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
There is a little one acre pond tucked away that I fish about once a week. There are a ton of 2.5 to 3lb fish. I've never caught of seen anything really big, but I know there is at least one pig in there. I absolutely crushed it tonight. I caught a good fish on a Ned, Neko, Split Shot, Senko, Drop Shot, and Spinnerbait. I cast a Senko, I let it sink down to the bottom and I left it there for about 20 seconds dead sticking. I feel two taps, reel down and hammer it home. It's completely solid. No head shake, just brute force pulling back. I'm telling my buddy I've finally got the pond monster on and right after it just goes limp. I'm standing there staring at the sky, my rod starts dancing again, a dink picked it up. I go put my Senko back on the hook and I notice my EWG's point is nowhere near the body of the bait. That fish had the hook point bent about 30 degrees out. In all of my years of bass fishing I've never had a fish actually straighten out a hook. I will land that fish soon and it's going to be awesome Still a great night though.
