  1. I power it with a 45 lb thrust electric Minn Kota trolling motor. The Sea Eagle 9 can go up to 70 something lbs of thrust. I recommend you go as high as you can afford.
  2. $299? That was a great deal! Did your start-up package come with the floorboards? You gotta have the floor boards. And I've learned that you can simply keep the motor mount rigged up rather than take it completely apart after every use. That makes set-up a lot quicker. Just unload it, plug in the Coleman 12 volt electric pump, blow it up, toss the trolling motor on the mount and hit the water. It's good stuff.
  3. Good point. Someone would hang that thing from a flag pole...
  4. Google Sea Eagle. They make some great inflatables. I use the Sea Eagle 9 motor mount boat. It folds up pretty well, but is probably still a little big for a dorm room. You may want to check out one of the smaller motor mount boats. Be sure to buy a 12 volt Coleman air pump!
  5. I use the Sea Eagle 9 as well. Works great. Biggest problem I had with it was inflating the darned thing. The foot pump is high powered but can wear you out! I finally bought a Coleman 12 volt air pump that plugs into my car's cigarette lighter. Now I sit back and let it do the work.
  6. That is cool as heck. Good luck over there in Korea.
  7. Kinda off topic, but I just noticed that Dockmaster and I live in the same small town. And though he's 15, he's caught a bunch more fish than I have.
  8. If anyone wants to see an interesting take on the color issue, watch the Lunkerville episode with LBH. He throws ***' version of the Senko all day. And he changes color after every catch. Color didn't seem to matter that day...
  9. I use Pinnacles. They cast well. They have smooth retrieves, but they're not made of the strongest stuff in the world. Mind you, that doesn't bother me since I'm getting a lot of ball bearings for a low price. Anyway, I've been using mine for three seasons and they haven't failed me yet.
  10. Great point. I tend to forget this.
  11. Is anyone else eagerly looking forward to him catching his first bass? I sure am. Please post a pic once you nab one.
  12. I agree. The Eliminator looks amazing.
  13. LOL. The horror indeed.
  14. true the carrot stick might be a little gaudy but with the amount they have sold and as popular as they are i dont think hardcore anglers are concerned about what their appearance is using a rod,im going to assume youve never handled a carrot stick, cause if you did the color wouldnt matter to you,nor "looking like a tool" cause for the price those sticks are AMAZINGLY light and VERY sensitive all backed up behind a lifetime warranty, you have nice reels (the revos) why would you spend that and then go and put them on lowend rods? to me that would make someone look more like a tool then a revo on a highend "orange" rod imo. I am broncoboxer and I support this message.
  15. I wish I could boast the same level of expertise, but the truth is most rods feel like hammers in my hands. I don't have nearly enough on the water experience to have developed that sense of feel. Unfortunately, I read about fishing a whole lot more than I actually fish. :-[
  16. I just noticed that Rogue offers 7 foot ultralights. And they're reasonably priced, too. Would you put Rogue in the same quality category as say Fenwicks, St. Croixs, etc?
  17. The Avids get a lot of good remarks. Do they offer a longer ultralight? Say a 7 footer?
  18. That's what I'm using now! I like it well enough. Just curious to see what others use.
  19. It's perfect, I simply wanted to list a basic range. I agree that 2-6 lb test is more ideally ultralight. So, how would you compare the Celio's sensitivity to some of your higher dollar rods? I've recently purchased my first "good" rod (a 7' 3" MH Carrot Stix) and was blown away by how much I could feel. I guess I'm looking for that sort of performance from an ultralight.
