Favorite Ultralight rods?
Hey folks, I've been getting into ultralight fishing and was curious what rods you guys would suggest? By ultralight, I mean rods rated for 2-8 pound test with the ability to cast 1/32 ounce to 1/4 oz lures. Both spinning and casting models. By the way, if you suggest a casting rod, what reel would you pair it with. Any favorite spincasters? Thanks.

carrot stix suck
I love my Carrot Stix. The sensitivity is out of this world.

Not the favorite hot bait right now. Your all time favorite
Zoom Super Fluke.

Space Monkey Surprise
I'm looking forward to fishing the Space Monkey. The Rage Shad has been a producer for me. I like it in super grassy areas because it's essentially a weedless buzz bait with a soft plastic appeal. And it catches fish. Period.

Re: What rod $100 - $150 to match with Revo SX?
Ditto on the Carrot Stix. I just purchased a 7' 3" MH fast action stick and I am blown away by its incredible sensitivity. I love it!

Yeah, I'm a junky.

Carolina Rig Rod
Well, folks. After holding the Mojo in my hand (with a reel locked on for a more accurate feel) I just thought it was too heavy. Felt like I'd get tired after a short time fishing it. Then I picked up a few other rods before finally testing a 7'3" MH Fast Action Carrot Stix. It was like butter. What really sold me was when the dealer put the tip of the rod to his throat and then began talking softly. I could feel his vocal vibrations through the rod's blank. So I walked out of the store with that rod. Looking forward to actually using it.

which plastics and how to fish 'em
The article suggests fishing the Senko like a fluke. Anyone had any luck doing that? Absolutely! Oh, wait, heck no, don't ever try that. waste of time! : LOL.

Carolina Rig Rod
You know what? After reading reviews on the Citica E and the Mojo rods, I think I WILL get that combo. I wasn't especially looking for a baitcasting reel, but since the only two I own are WalMart specials (Pinnacles...) it probably wouldn't hurt to own a "real" baitcaster.

Carolina Rig Rod
So, have you used one of the BPS weight balancing rods? Which one did you like best?

Carolina Rig Rod
I was interested in how good the BPS house lines were. I am curious about the rods with the special "weight balancing system." Seems pretty cool.

Carolina Rig Rod
Both lakes and rivers (Cape Fear River, Jordan Lake, Shearon Harris Lake, High Rock Lake, Kerr Lake, Falls Lake, etc.). Size of lure? I figure I'll try out quite a few different sizes. For instance, I caught that first bass on a Zoom Trick Worm. But I imagine I'll try lizards, flukes, brush hawgs, Senkos, Ikas, etc. Most of these, I imagine, are between 5 and 8 inches. Weight will likely depend on depth and water current. But likely between 1/4th ounce and 1 ounce.

Just the rod.

Super Aggressive Fish
Yesterday I took my family to one of those recreational lakes that has slides and rope swings and sectioned off areas of shallows to swim in, etc. You know, kinda like a beach but in the midle of that state. It doesn't allow fishing. Anyway, I was impressed with how clean it was. The management had really kept the weeds under control. Here in North Carolina, that's quite an accomplishment. So I'm there with my 1 year old son, who is having a blast splashing the water, when I feel something pinch my rear end. At first, I'm thinking the Mrs. is getting fresh. I turn to look, expecting to see a sly grin on her face. But there is no one behind me. I shrug, seeing nothing out of the ordinary in the water, and go about playing with my son. Then I get bumped again. This time it's my back. And this time I'm not going to stop until I figure out what the heck is going on. So I shielded my eyes from the sun, looked into the lightly stained water and saw a pack of blue gills suspending inches away from me. They weren't afraid one bit! I splashed the water in front of them, hoping to get them to find some other swimmers to annoy. They moved a few inches, but stuck around. For the next hour, these blue gills took turns trying to eat us. At one point, the largest of them (I estimated him to weigh about half a pound) swam to the surface and struck at my extended pointer finger. I punched him in the mouth. No kidding. I punched the little joker in the mouth. He swam a few feet away and then suspended. I could almost hear him laughing, "Is that all you got?" Anyway, that was the first time I'd ever witnessed fish behaving so aggressively. You better believe I felt like coming back with an ultralight set-up.

Carolina Rig Rod
Thanks for the suggestions so far. Any more?

Carolina Rig Rod
Few weeks back I caught my first ever Carolina Rig bass on a buddy's Rod and Reel. You know what's even cooler about that? It was my first cast ever with a Carolina Rig, too. Fished 8 hours that day and only caught three fish total. But one was on my first ever cast with a Carolina Rig. As you may guess, now I want a Carolina Rig Rod. I'll be visiting the Concord, NC Bass Pro Shops on the 23rd and plan to walk out of there with the rod. So, any suggestions? I'm looking to spend less than $200. Thanks in advance for your comments.

Anyone ever successful with true floating worms?
For the record, Zoom Trick Worms don't float. Ever. Hook or no hook. But I still love 'em. Luck-E-Strike, however, actually produces a true floating worm. You can buy their "kits" at Wal-Mart for a little of nothing.

Scum Frog Bigfoot
I can't believe what I'm reading. My Bigfoot kicks butt! The legs have all sorts of action. It's like a weedless, floating buzz bait with Owner hooks. They rock.
