  1. This is probably a dumb question, but are there any major problems with using a bass rod (a 6' 7" MH Carrot Stix) for inshore fishing? Thanks in advance for any help.
  2. My favorite bait now comes with a swimming tail? Gonna have to get me some!
  3. Quite honestly, those articles have taught me most of what I know about bass fishing.
  4. I enjoy both and believe you should definitely take the time to learn baitcasting. Baitcasters are fun to cast. It's true (except for when they back lash...). Learning to thumb the spool to drop your bait into the water with nary a splash is fun. Learning to flip and pitch is fun. But since I'm still no expert with baitcasters, I do have professional overruns (back lashes). And the time I take picking out tangles could be used fishing instead. That's when the spinning reels really come in handy. Cast as hard as you want, those babies won't backlash.
  5. Welcome. And you're right. This is the best fishing website on the net.
  6. Zoom Super Fluke (watermelon seed).
  7. There's a story here. I'm sure of it...
  8. They worked great for me in the Pamlico Sound. I caught Spotted Trout, Red Drum and another species I can't seem to name at the moment. The pin fish were hitting the minnows, too (knuckleheads...). But like many of you, I've yet to catch a bass with Gulp.
  9. You mean they have 7+ pounders in Virginia?
  10. Thanks for the inclusion, but please remove me from the list.
  11. Tell you what, guys. I think this was a good idea that ran into a snag. I don't care to speculate on why Jr. hasn't shipped that box. He knows why. I don't. But I do know that this Lure Pass has stalled and this thread has turned sour. Thanks for the attempt, Clarke. You da man. If you guys were serious about hooking him up with a few lures/cash/whatever to make up for his investment, then count me in. But please remove me from the list of 10 Lure Passers. I have a feeling there's quite a few willing to take my spot. No hard feelings. Take care, guys.
  12. I've always liked purple lures. And I wasn't even alive in the 60's...
  13. You're assuming the employees stocked them on the wrong rack or mispriced them. Far more often, I believe, knucklehead shoppers grab those high dollar baits off the shelf, tote them around while considering whether or not to purchase them and then ultimately decide not to. Rather than return them to their high-dollar rack, they ditch them in the closest spot: the discount box.
  14. Gotcha. I haven't tried them with a 3/0 hook. And you're right about the plastic being hard. A Senko, for instance, is so much softer. It's like comparing a rubber glove to a Michelin tire.
  15. Congrats!
  16. I think you're minimizing just how versatile KVD is. The man has instructional videos on how to flip and pitch, too (not just Spinnerbaits). In recent years he has embraced drop shotting and been successful with it. My guess is you name a type of bass fishing and he can do it as well as almost anyone...
  17. Watermelon seed is my favorite, but I don't put as much stock into color as some. Presentation is more important IMHO.
  18. UUUUUUUGGGGGGG!!!!!! He didn't just write that? Yeah, he did. And I agree with him.
  19. No need for the "so-called" floating, they really do float. I've tested them myself.
  20. Luck "E" Strike sells a floating worm kit at Wal-Mart for a little of nothing and those worms actually float. Also, I hear that the Strike King 3X series of soft plastics float. Never used them though.
  21. I've had luck catching bluegill with Rapala Countdown minnows (the smallest versions--CD1, I believe) and Strike King Bitsy Minnows. The most fun I've ever had fishing was when I hooked into a mess of bluegill with the above lures. I caught 7 in approximately 15 minutes. They bent my 5'6" spincasting rod in half. Some of those suckers were true bull gills, weighing more than a pound. Little did I know (since I was, and still am, a newb) those were big for blue gill. Heck, I didn't even know what they were! I was like, "Is this a bass?"
  22. Albany, GA. That brings back memories. I lived there back when I was 9-10 years old. Lived at the Naval logistics base. My father was in the Marine Corps (Semper Fi) and I hated fishing. Man, I didn't know what I was missing...
  23. You think they would mount effectively to a standard 36 qt Coleman cooler? Like the one in the link below: http://www.rei.com/product/687914?cm_mmc=cse_froogle-_-datafeed-_-product-_-687914&mr:trackingCode=15754FFE-FB85-DE11-B7F3-0019B9C043EB&mr:referralID=NA
  24. Sounds cool. I went to the website, looking for prices, and they wanted me to fill out a page of information before I could get a look at how much they cost. That's usually a red flag.
