Have a lot of family down around Charleston, but them boys like to salt water fish and if new to this and can't swim like I just too. They call me BOB, as in bobber. I just fish the little reservoirs in Maryland, their electric only, now I bought this aircraft carrier, I'm heading south/ mallard duck.....

TRACKER OVERLOAD HELP !!!!!!!
See what mean, Thanks... gulfcaptain, good answer on the electronics buying two. Lakes I fish are 50-80 ft. tops and international waterways maybe later in the Carolinas, Once I learn how to maneuver this Aircraft carrier. really never had boat before. bought new for bumper to bumper warranty, floated around little ponds in Md. with 12ft. Jon boat. Electric only (reservoirs) Money aside (not the $3400.00 ea. type), bass fishing, no charter service or ocean ventures in my future, any suggestions on make and models? Maybe ones you started with, to ones you upgraded from and own now and maybe the ones your thinking of getting? What you found would of been better to have, after you bought the one, you could afford, thing. I was leaning towards having them both installed same time at boat shop, so they could link together and wiring and electrical. P.S. any thoughts on this discounted old model sale thing I've heard Hummingbird offers, since the Helix models are coming?

TRACKER OVERLOAD HELP !!!!!!!
Your guys help is unmatched, this site is like having all the Pro's personal phone numbers on speed dial..... Bought brand new 2015 Tracker ProTX190, 90 four stroke, no up-grades from factory except 115hp. and boat cover, (I got $520.00 cover) came with: 45 thrust 12v trolling motor, weak fish finder,(black&white), 2-bank in-board charger, one cranking battery, one trolling battery. Now, if I change to 24v to give me better/longer trolling motor time, I'd have to change trolling motor right? I don't understand.. what? sell brand new factory 45, that is 12v, but wait, New 24v 80-101 thrust trolling motor (bow mount) are they all 36v? They are ex-ex pensive...Only enough room in back for total of 3 batteries. Didn't really want to put big backhoe batteries on deck. So, I want to put shallow anchor system on it, so I am not blown away by, WIND, like I'm blown away by the cost of all this stuff...lol Really would like to put bow fish finder/sonar, so I'm not running back and forth to check out, where I am. Here's the question: putting this stuff on 25k boat, would it have enough battery power or I'm I getting into some serious long, water-proof extension cords. I guess I can run batteries parallel, @12v to give the trolling time a boost right? Electronics? Would this limit, how big of unit? And finally the talon thing/anchor, they sell a battery pack that looks like it mounts to the top of it? POWER POLE? are they using battery also, I thought they were hydraulic? Bonus: DIG-IN Shallow Water Anchors (386)-308-7745. Anyone heard of this company? sounds sweet for my use, 500-700 dollars for 2 complete package 12ft., against 3000 for one power pole 10ft., that includes mounting brackets for my boat. It's alum. welded construction. Thanks for any comments, KEEP: FLIPPING & PITCHING BABY!!!!!!

Backing on Bait Casters
mono backing v/s old #20 faded/old power pro? Can you tie mono 12lb. to 100% fluorocarbon 17lb. as main line? Using double uni-knot? or is there a better knot? Or would it be better/stronger to put electrical tape around spool and put braid as backer, then double uni-knot to the 17lb. fluorocarbon? Going to fish 50 foot water for big stripper/Rock Fish... Already have one spooled with straight 65lb. Power Pro, thinking of just adding 100% fluorocarbon leader to that one for shallow areas. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thumbs Down ?
Thanks, have old man eyes, and that picking knots out would, get old quick. Practicing Skipping with spinning reel, to get wrist flip, and trashed some mono (A lot). That lure/jig isn't a stone. And with braid or fluorocarbon could get expensive, looks easy on TV. lol. Best thing, I've done in a while, is joining this site ! Thanks again. And I'll see ya, in a year or 37 at the Summit Cup

How to choose lure color
Munkin, Good to hear from Hagerstown, There's tournaments around your way? That's, what has been working. Worm on shaky head seems to really Smoke? I use white flutes on 3/16 jig heads, it works at Boyds, deep around bridge/Road. That is also called; Muskie Alley, I've heard. Have not been able to get one of those monsters. The local boaters, that I have met, have some serious electric outboards. If you every need some one to fish with, hook me up, was lucky enough to text another cool member, Snakehead Whisper, He hunts the Potomac, he has extended an invite also. Nice guy knows his stuff, plus sounds like vast knowledge of areas, that my boat with Mercury 90, can be Started up. Deep Creek lake is my next Target. Just started with is newest addition,(12-16 months) having a blast.. Those two ponds, have been my practice water and Black Hill seems to have more Bass, so I'm able to practice and actually have chance to set a hook. There else do you fish, and how? Bank or Boat? Thanks for your guidance.. Hope to see you on the water.

Thumbs Down ?
Can you use, the push your thumb on spool trick, to free, Braid line birds nets? Thinking of up-grading and was wondering, if you would have to pick them out. Bait Caster novice and getting where I don't get them, and when I do I push thumb down and reel in a little, then release and pull out until it catches again. Most of the ones, I get now are, when missing my target and hit something like wrong dock post etc.

PERFECT MATCHES ?
2015 Tracker Pro190, That thing is an Aircraft Carrier, compared to the little 12' Jon Boat, I had before. Man, I think the bass caught me, I love this, I sell real estate and the $ is stupid, I'm good at what I do and with the life stuff Smith Barney, handles what I either don't know or don't want to know and my 6 kids are set, don't pay for the equestrian stuff anymore, on to grand children, what's next... Here I'm, thanks for everything you guys have shared with me. I like to do stuff once, and buying the low end stuff, has proved to be a waste. Can ya say: Re-gifting.....all I have to do now, is learn from like minded people and think like a Bass ! WIGuide; that's the stuff dreams are made of, Thanks Sir, SPOT ON. EVAN K, That's why, I would like to fine tune rods & reels and polish the techniques, that I've learn on the site. Can't get enough! Don't get me wrong, I'm by no means, I guy with deep pockets, I just think that the really good stuff, you guys talk about in near, will last me a lifetime, and if it does break, i'll look up rod/reel repair shop and keep: FLIPPING & PITCHING,BABY!!!!!!!!

How many of you, Fish like this?
Wow, Great Stuff ! I don't fish weekends in lakes around here, only every weekday for around 5 months. I go to South Carolina to some Big lakes on weekends to nail the stuff, I've learned on the weekdays up in my area. I'm not a scientist, really just trying to learn better boat positioning and on weekends in D.C. area the boat positioning is NOTHING to due with fishing, it's avoiding the other boaters, kayaks, and the folks: that only have, that ONE DAY, for the nature trail/escape from real world, Mentality "Oh my god, I'm out,. AKA: YOUR IN MY WAY. I don't even care if I skunk fishing, haven't yet. I want my lure, worm or whatever I'm throwing back.I'm checking out the geese, deer, lake and the quite...while tying knots, becoming on with nature. The Force? Really,Man, I need to go fishing with you, You don't even need fishing equipment, I'd like to ****** to pebble from your hand, Grass-Hopper... lol My force can't even, place that little tiny bug thingy in the 10% fish in 90% water thing, right. Really appreciate all of ya'll opinion even the funny ones, I too, have sense of humor,

PERFECT MATCHES ?
Thanks guys, Waters, I'm fishing are the clear to stained reservoirs, around Baltimore, and Gaithersburg, Md. area. I fish lake Moultrie and Lake Marion in South Carolina and down there it varies because it's: Massive.... I too just started. Thank you smalljaw67 for pointing that out, couldn't find Daiwa on reel (it had some transformer symbol on that) and looked for box (missed-placed it). Bass Pro Shop ease dropping (fly on wall) hearing salesman explaining to some, what sounded to me, as experienced tournament Bass anglers around Potomac clubs, after hearing them and asking some questions I just bought what they left, not must inventory, Bought New Tracker and get that 20% off thing for 2 years. I HATE going there, It's always leads to go dinner conversation. The salesman saved me $80 off rod, by switching to that mojo bass from the St.Croix Avid, one that I was going to buy. thanks for clearing that up on type rod. In your opinion, should I change the reel that's paired with that MOJO (Shimano) or with another one that I have, or should I buy another one, Man, that means, I have to go out shopping again!!! That's why I posted in here, so maybe can buy online to save that retail price. Tight lines & Thanks. I really take, what you guys and gals recommend seriously, fishing about very day for 16 months with cheap stuff, learned how to get bird's net out and re-spooling, throwing a lot of fishing line away, used that $2.50 Ollie' 10lb. 700yds. Mono. That could explain a lot, since I have this high dollar equipment, less throwing away, and wanted to spool right line for rigs/set-ups. Only caught 20-30 Bass, don't own scale yet, not really sure as far as biggest and that was practicing/casting, I only wanted that $6.99 lure back. lol

PERFECT MATCHES ?
Just bought a couple of rods and reels and wanted some help. SPINNING ST. CROIX PS70MF, 7', Medium power, Fast action. SCII, 6-12 lb., 1/4-5/8 oz. Paired with Abu Garcia Ballistic EX 3000 5.6:1 ratio. Have 20lb. power pro braid. What's your opinions on putting smaller line, either mono or fluorocarbon for better presentations. Best techniques? Just started to learn bait casters and got the: BAIT CASTER MOJO BASS MJC68MHF, 6'8", Med-Heavy, Fast Action, SCIII Graphite,12-20 lb., 3/8-1oz. Paired with Shimano, Chronarch CI4+ 150 6.2:1 ratio. Think this one would be go for Square bills, Jerk, and ? Have 10lb mono, Trilene green, can I tie fluorocarbon leader to that mono or just go straight with BPS 17lb.fluorocarbon w/ backer???? QUANTUM ESCC701MH, 7' Med-Heavy, 10-25lb., 1/4-1 1/4oz. (not sure on action), Paired with Quantum Smoke SL100HPT,7.0:1 ratio. thinking of putting the 20lb. braid w/ fluorocarbon leader for skipping docks, or straight fluorocarbon ? FIELD & STREAM FEHTSBC610MHXF, 6'10", Med-Heavy, Extra Fast, 10-20lb., 1/4-1oz., paired with LEWS Speed Spool,SSG1H, 6.8:1 ratio. Not sure what type line or best way to use for rig. Hey, I think, I'm learning, so much, so quick, from this site it's overloading brain....Have two bait caster reels(both are from combos) one is ABU GARCIA PROMAX 7.1:1 ratio, Quantum Escalade, 7.0:1 ratio. The rods that I have is a QUANTUM ESCS701M, 7' Med, 8-14lb., 1/4-3/4oz.(not sure of action), and QUANTUM ESCS661M, 6'6", Med, 6-12lb.1/8-1/4oz. both bought at Dick's Sporting 1/2 price. 50.00 ea. ProMax reel is heavy 6.5oz. Bought the two medium rods for flipping and pitching and skipping around docks etc. With all that, I'm getting mixed up. ANY thoughts would be great, have to put new line on all of them, so guidance on type, manufactures, and works for you and your presentations.

How many of you, Fish like this?
Gentlemen and Ladies, Hope I'm talking general bass topic.. It's about fishing. How do the people on this site address these: Please include what lures, depth, time of day, how you fish (fast, medium, slow) and anything else. Or nothing? Barometric Pressure: Chance time of fishing, day planner (What day you prefer), and lures/presentations/Speed on retrieves Full Moon: ? New Moon: ? Waxing Moon: Position / Time moon is raising towards full moon? (fish early) Morning ? Waning Moon: Position / Time moon is lowering from full moon? (fish late) late evening or night fishing ? Maybe some of the more experienced anglers/members, could shine some light on this topic? I'm hoping to get better understanding of Bass habits and travel plans. Shallow fishing v/s deeper fishing to adjust for all the above? What's you'll take on lake/river water turn-over, season/time, when water gets 39 degrees it's denser, bottom decaying material rises, mixing and pushing the thermo layer (warm area) causing turn-over. Gene and Glenn your tutorials rule !!!!!! Thanks in advance. Any and all options would be appreciated, Can't Fish, to cold to learn on water, let's learn from each other !!!!!!

If you could only buy one?
Thanks for the input. What unit/model would be best for bow, that has really good sonar/fish finder that would work without up-grading trolling motor at installation. Thinking of holding off on trolling motor upgrade to free up some funds to get better unit, right out the gate and keeping from trying to sell used unit later, does one hold it's value more then another? And would I have to upgrade battery system from 12 volt to 24 volt?
-
If you could only buy one?
Hey, thanks. that one is temp and depth only, structure and fish finder good for fishing off back deck. I'm always hopping back and forth to check. I bigger unit with sonar and other feature for fish locating would be nice. So you do you have to run them networking together? HUMMINGBIRD units looked like the Graphics were good, Do you like one over another? Really not thinking of touch screen for bow mounted, thanks again for your answer

First time for everything
took 20 minutes making sure I would get that one right with pull downs at top of home page . My laptop last thing after flea market was anything else only. Forget it I'm not getting this computer, good people, great info, I will try going to the page numbered in the 600's to look at old posts..do they still make the same units the they did in 2009?

If you could only buy one?
Brand New Tracker Pro190 W/90 Mercury, came with black and white lowrance 3: 99.00... Opinions on Garmin, Raymarine, Lowrance. Dealer told me that the wiring may work if I upgraded to a lowrance unit, but I was really wanting to do this just once since the cost of units only range 400-2000 dollars not counting new wiring, labor and upgrading the 45 thrust trolling motor that came with it. I will also need to upgrade from 12 volt to 24 volt to get 80 thrust and those are 1600 ish.... chargers 2bank to 3 bank etc, only enough room for two trolling batteries in back with one cranking battery. Boat is in South Carolina for the winter, so if I could trouble you boaters to share what worked for you, I'm sure others wanting to do some of this upgrades would benefit from our communications.. Oh, If anyone Had an EXTRA 5000 dollars laying around, I'd take ya fishing ... Also need power poles. Thanks my new Buds P.S. Thinking as if everything cost one dollar what would your #1, #2, and #3 be.

First time for everything
If I may, wanted to ask everyone's opinion on putting bow mounted nice electronics on front of my 2014 Tracker Pro190, didn't see forum on electronics, what's best or different types. Boat came with 99.00 fish finder and really would like to get some feedback other then, Spend what you can afford response.. ? I've been learning a lot from all you said, I don't want to buy whatever, then find out later that for an extra ($) could have put this on that had this feature, and then throw away the Gen8 cuz Gen10 or Raymarine , anyway thanks in advance, guess your ice fisher

Greetings from North Pole, Frederick Md.
I'm from South Carolina, moved to D.C. area in 1990. Have only 6 children, 4 grand-children, so I'm needing to fish... get it. Hadn't fished since high school 1976, then it was Big "BLUES" catfish. Found this site and started bank fishing practicing casts and getting around trees, slipped one a.m. on wet grass, found 12' Jon boat in yard sale,100.00 to get to better parts of ponds I was fishing, and not to get hurt, I'm a below-knee amputee, then loading boat in back of truck slipped on goose #^*!, was going to get trailer for little boat, Around here storage is $$$$. So, if I was going to have to store boat and trailer... way not get nice one, right? After surfing the net for used bass boats and not knowing anything about boats, my wife said: why would you buy a boat used and have her worry about me breaking down somewhere... I quickly agreed and bought New Tracker with bumper to bumper warranty and here I am... finding out all new world, didn't know the meaning of boat: BREAK OUT ANOTHER THOUSAND. Started reading this web-site to get schooled on 2 bank /3 bank chargers, power poles, electronics, etc. Although, watching videos on this site, on gear and presentations cost me thousands,I feel that the rods, reels, and tackle is quality stuff that wouldn't need replacing, once I learned how to use it. The things posted on this site has helped me, so my baby girl showed (clicking at record speed) how to join in to get the best advice for people that used the stuff, instead of some one trying to sell something. Looking forward to it, an Olde southern statement, "Ya'll seem ta be good people"
