Check out a Dobyns Fury 734C for a spinnerbait rod or 705CB for a crankbait rod. Also Walmart.com has Tatula rods for just over $100 which is about $50 off. Where did you order your reel from?

I have Wiley X and the Costas. I agree with your original comment that the Maui Jims and Costas are top of the line.

I gotta get me a Champion one day. Very impressed with Dobyns so far in the little experience I've had with them. Looking forward to getting some on the water time in soon.

Do you like the Dobyns Champion line? I bought a Champion Extreme but in a 7'6" ML as a drop shot, NED rig, finesse rod. I don't think it's the best representation of the Dobyns line.

If you spent that much on glasses the fit should feel right. Send them back. I suggest that if you want to buy online drive over to Bass Pro and try them on first so you know what you are getting.

It sounds like a good rod based on reviews on TW. Consider a Daiwa Tatula same size and power on sale at Walmart.com for just over $100 which is a good price.

It's a beautiful day in Michigan today so I'm playing with my rods in the front yard. When I compare my Dobyns Fury 705CB versus my St Croix Avid X 7' MF casting rod it doesn't feel like a $90 difference in price. Maybe the difference is more in the warranty but just in feeling alone I'd say they are on par. Anybody else have both rods and want to chime in?

Walmart.com for a Tatula rod just over $100 not the XT. Or a Dobyns Fury for your rod. Tatula reels are a great deal on Ebay around $94.

Are you fishing for largemouth or smallmouth? When I was younger I used to use a 1/16th ounce jighead and a minnow color tube and throw it as close as I could to the lily pads or a weed line on a dropoff. It was very effective. I'm not sure why I got away from that. Maybe because it's not a "sexy method" to fish?? If you're fishing for smallmouth they're best fished on the bottom as crawfish imitations.

I don't think you need to designate reels with rods. Figure out how you will be fishing and put the appropriate reels on the rods.

Say out loud "That sucks". Then get online to find yourself a better setup. Be thankful you lost a lesser one. It happens to the best of us. I kicked a St Croix Triumph and Quantum reel overboard last year. Lesson learned, be more careful.

I think the 2500 is a better size. But get other people's opinions.

Get over to the store and trade in a reel. If you don't have one they usually have $5 reels behind the reel counter that you can buy. Then a Stradic CI4 is less than $200. I think the reel trade in ends on Sunday.

The Champion is gonna be a more sensitive than the GL2.

Find out where she got it and just exchange for the version you want. Usually you don't even need a receipt if the tags are still on. Otherwise it sounds like a swimbait rod
