It's a confidence thing. I've been throwing weightless senkos all summer because they work and I know they catch big fish. The proof is in the pudding. 3.5 to 4.5 pounders from the last few months which are good fish for Michigan.

It's impossible to not catch a bass on a Yamamoto senko worm with a 4/0 EWG Gamakatsu hook. Depending on your water clarity if its clear i like the Watermelon black flake but about any flake color with Watermelon is good and the same thing with green pumpkin. Cast the senko near the edge of lily pads or the edge of a weedline or under a dock and let it flutter fall for 3 to 5 seconds it is impossible to not catch a bass this way.

Man come out to Lk St Clair next spring and throw a lipless crankbait. It's impossible not to catch some smallies that way.

I've been teaching some coworkers lately by verbal instruction and they are understanding how to throw a senko. If you could show them how it's not difficult and its incredibly effective.

I used to fish Lk St Clair so I know a bit about it. Like webertime mentions its a time and a place bait. It is good on high pressure dead calm or light wind days. It is good on Day 4 of the tournament after the fish have been pounded for 3 days prior. It is an incredibly boring technique but it works. When you think you are reeling as slowly as you can you have to slow down more. This technique can catch very big fish though.

I bought a G Loomis NRX 872s a few years back while I didn't buy it for that purpose I found it a very suitable drop shot rod.

I used to fish against your buddy Mini in tournaments so I needed all the best lures now I fish out of a kayak for fun lol.

Agree with you on the shad shape worms. I used to catch a ton of smallies on St Clair. Unfortunately I moved away from St Clair last year so I have my shad shape worms up for sale on Ebay currently.

My fishing club would roadtrip every year to Maumee tackle and Jans Netcraft. Not sure if those places are still in business but you may want to research them.

The green pumpkin watermelon laminate senko is about as good as it gets colorwise in my opinion. That way the bass has its choice of what color it's going to eat

Hey all, I was considering listing some of my used tackle. What is the best way to ship treble hook lures that are not in the original packaging? Are you guys still using the bubble packaging and trying to rubber band the hooks? Thanks for any suggestions that you might have.

Keitechs are tough to beat in the spring on spawning flats for smallies. Once the water temp hits 50 degrees you can slowly retrieve off the bottom. As the water temp warms increase speed of retrieve. It's tough not to catch some big smallies doing that. Of course I had the advantage of fishing Lk St Clair.

I would think that grubs would work just as well as paddle tail baits. However it does seem that the paddle tail baits have a bigger profile and tend to catch bigger fish. Just my experience. However I have caught many fish on a grub and would not hesitate to use them.

Keep topwater baits in mind too. It may sound funny but smallies are notorious for coming from long distances to smash a topwater bait.
