Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
That whole area of the Mine Falls launch area, and the Dam, has some open shoreline fishing. That back of Stellos stadium is still a little bit of ice, but its clearing out. Heading upstream from the dam, the water is a bit higher than normal but the current was real slow or thats what it seemed like to me. The wind was more the issue is regards to being blown around. You could also try the Tilton St. launch. You might be able to cast out but your mileage many vary when comes to catching anything. Anyone checked out Flints Pond in Hollis ?

Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
I took my new kayak out on the Nashua River yesterday. Saw a couple of other bass boats out there too. I fished for 4 hours or so and had no luck. I had a hard time finding the bass. My guess is the river is just real big, and its hard to get on them as early as it is. I started out at Mine falls launch and paddled up to the Bartemus Brook. Looking up the brook it was still lightly iced over. I'm no expert on bass or fishing in general but I think the fish are holding up in creek channels and when we see those fully ice out , and some of the shorelines, the fishing will get a little better. I was throwing- Chatterbaits, Spinnerbaits, Shaky Heads and small cranks(DT6). Heck, I even threw a Bluegill swimbait at em. All that said, it was amazing to just be out there and fishing. Cabin fever has finally broke. - Also noticed that the pond, just before Target off of exit 8 in Amherst NH, is fully iced out.

Help getting kick started with plastics and jigs in ponds
This^ . Specifically, I would recommend Zoom trick worm Green Pumpkin/Chartreuse tip on a shaky head or just a regular offset round bend worm hook. Fish it slow, let it fall all the way to the bottom and hang on.

Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
I was wondering the same thing. With the warm weather we been having I was hoping for an early season. Last weekend I was down at the Dam on the Nashua river. The big pool area in before the dam is open, with the shoreline areas have some ice going into the river a bit. It was windy as all, water was running faster than usual and a bit high. I was throwing some Chatterbaits and Spinnerbaits real slow against the ledges and got nothing. Tried a white Zoom grub, throwing it up against the wall there and a bit in the channel that leads down along the parking area, no luck either. Spent about and hour getting cold, but after not fishing for so long it was worth it. I also took a quick peak at Mill Pond on the drive over and some of the waters that feed it from the highway and they looked iced over still, with the pond itself being mostly iced over with some holes here and there. I just bought a kayak Saturday, Ascend FS12T, from Bass Pro in Hooksett and I'm itching to get out there. First time off the bank for me so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an early spring.

I picked up some lead free jigs at BPS Hooksett. The selection was crap, but I mean they need to step it up come June. They had a few companies, but the ones I picked up were Lunkah Huntah brand. They make them in Natick MA I think. I also found a category on Tackle Warehouse that had lead free jigs too. Heres a link- http://www.***.com/Non_Lead_Jigs/catpage-NONLEADJIG.html

Talking to the locals
For me, I will chat with some of the people I see repeatedly, and share my info. But as a rule whenever people past by while I'm fishing or ask me on the way out I always say " Caught nothing".

tungsten jigs siebert outdoors?
I was over at BPS in Hooksett and had same problem finding lead free stuff too. I did find some jigs made by a company called Lunkah Huntah based out of Natick MA. They were a buck more so I picked up a few finesse jigs cause I really didn't have any. My big problem, and I heard a lot of other guys who were shopping right next to me saying it too, is that they really have a small small small amount of lead free tackle and so much lead tackle in a state that is outlawing them in June. I need some ball jigs for grubs and tubes but its a pain trying to find them the same goes for swimbait hooks/ drop shot weights... the list goes on and on.

BPS Classic - dissapointing turnout
I went on Saturday and it was fairly crowded by about 11 ish. The good- -Best discounts seemed to be on soft plastics. Zooms were 25% off and Yum packs were 1.99 -There was a combo BPS qualifier reel and carbonlite rod for $99. Not the greatest gear ever but a hell of a deal. The Bad- -There was no really exciting deals. All the fine quality rods were just normal price. -A lot of the Topwater lure (Frog/Spooks/Poppers) were not on sale at all. Love topwater and I was bummed out. -No deals on Kayaks. -Discounts were not great with like a dollar off overpriced lures.

TOPWATER!!!!
Spooks and spooks and more spooks. Throw em all the time, even in crappy conditions for topwater and fish destroy them.

Spring classic sale
Theirs some nice deals goin on too. I always pick up a a pack or 2 of YUM dingers(Wat/candy) whenever I go to BPS and the sale is bringing all YUM stuff down to 1.99 a pk so I'm gonna stock up. Just what I needed for winter cabin fever too.

I'm looking for a inexpensive kayak stable enough to stand on
To be honest get the Ascend FS12t, not the 128. Basically the same thing, but lighter and cheaper. You can stand and do everything that the big buck models can do. Also if this is your first go at kayaking or kayak fishing then don't dump a huge amount of money on something you really haven't had that much experience with. In regards to the reviews- -Earlier year models had some production issues with unsealed components. If you can unscrew a screw and put down some marine sealant you are golden. People tend to get dramatic about things like this, yes it shouldn't be an issue, but its a minor minor issues that can be solved in 5 minutes. For the price its a no brainer. -Poor maneuverability is another issue and to an extant its true, but as an example I wouldn't expect a tank to win the Daytona 500. Theirs been some people reporting that folks who are shorter and weigh less have a harder time than say someone like me who is 6'1" 230lbs, but you could take it or leave it. I fish a river that is relatively slow moving and have 0 problems with paddling and maneuvering. But in the end you'll know which one is right for you. If you don'd end up going with Ascend try the Preception Prescadour Pro. Its new this year and looks great. Good Luck.

Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
Hey I'm new to this forum and just wanted to say Hi. I'm fishing mostly Nashua, specifically the Nashua River behind Stellos to the Dam, and also Mill Pond. Looking forward to an early spring and some good times on the water.
