  1. I think that you will find that the 9.9 Merc weighs the same as the 8 hp. four stroke. So why not go with 20% more power?
  2. Check out Gheenoes. Many times more stable than a canoe They are made in Florida.
  3. You will find that products such as Trex do not have as much strength parrelell to the grain as a lumber 2x6 etc. That said , if there are more attachment points to the frame of the trailer then it would most likely be satifactory.
  4. Go to Home Depot and get a can of Goof Off.
  5. I doubt if you will find many kick boats in gator waters.
  6. Because of the chemicals used to treat it, pt plywood can have a corrosive effect on metals that aren't hot dipped galvanized or stainless steel. If your floor is not permanently fastened to the boat , lift it out and coat both sides and edges with some paint or polyurethane. After you have used the boat for a few months , lift the floor again to check any interaction with the metal boat hull. Nice job on the conversion. Did you remove all the built in flotation in the hull?
  7. I'll bet that the picture will weigh at least three pounds.
  8. Avid, I use a trailer for my Gheenoe. The boat is just the basic 15 1/2 ft. model and weighs about 100 lbs. I used to put it on my back and load it on top of my p.u. topper. Now that I have a trailer that was designed for the Gheenoe I can leave my swivel seats on and store my battery cables etc. under the center seat. I spray silicon on the carpet bunks of the trailer and the boat slides off and on very easily. I never get the wheel rims wet and stop when the tires touch the water. As far as towing it I don't even know it's there except when turning a tight corner.
  9. Don't hang ten in gator country.
  10. Check out www.smalloutboards.com
  11. Could be big trouble if you ever have an accident with an over powered boat ie a 40 on a boat rated for a twenty . $$$
  12. Briggs & Stratton makes an electric ou board. I believe you can find info @ www.smalloutboards.com
  13. I have a Delco Voyager deep cycle battery that I bought in November of 1999. My M.K. trolling motor is the only power on my Gheenoe. I always charge the battery as soon as I return home and use the 2 amp setting on the charger and leave it on from 24 to 48 hrs. The battery still runs my 44 lb. trolling motor for four or five hours of fishing.
  14. George, Glad all went well. I know it's hard for someone that's used to being active to lay low for more than a day or two. I think that all the pumps on the Marsh/Farm should stay off until you can get back out to wet a line. Glad you are on the mend. Don
  15. AnglerN, I have had a Gheenoe since 1980. I wouldn't trade it for four canoes. I can sit on the gunnel and it won't capsize. I stand up and fish without any instability.
  16. Purchasing a canoe and then spending another $200+ just so you and your fishing gear aren't dumped overboard, seems illogical to me. The Gheenoe was invented because someone got tired of getting wet.
  17. Consider a Gheenoe , they wont' capsize like a canoe.
  18. Save your $ for a little longer and get a Kipawa prop, just as weedless, more speed and farther on a battery charge.
  19. how about a quick fix with some p.t. plywood?
  20. Gheenoe is the ONLY way to go, extemely stable and more speed with electric power. I've been using one since 1980.
  21. I think you need to get an anchor that's designed to to be an anchor not to stop a vehicle. Also how much line did you let out in relation to the water depth? It should be at least 7 to 1.
  22. To cook a mud fish---- nail the fish to a board, place board in fire until done, remove board from fire, remove fish from board, discard fish and eat the board
  23. Go to customgheenoe.com / forum Those guys are always modifying their boats and you will get a lot of good answers.
