  1. I have never used an Aegis, but I REALLY love my '16 ci4+.
  2. BPS Pro Qualifier. 7' Med/Hvy Fast
  3. After using the new '16 ci4+ for about two months now, I am comfortable saying it is the best Stradic I have ever used. It is smoother, lighter, and more powerful than either the older ci4+ or FK. It actually seems to have gotten smoother with time. The only thing I did not care for was the handle knob. I changed it out for a EVA knob similar to the older ci4+.
  4. I did not think you could get a 150 on a 188.
  5. Conquest...lol Out of what is listed, the Metanium.
  6. For the longest time I was mostly a bank fisherman. I never fished anything longer than 6'6" because I found myself in the brush a lot. I bought a boat a few months ago and have since picked up a 6'8" and a 7'1" rod. I am even thinking about a 7'6" flip/punch rod. But to the OPs point, if I could only have one, it would probably be 6'6" or 6'8" at the most. I really enjoy this type of setup too. I have a JDM setup that I am very much in love with...a 6'3" ML Expride with a Soare ci4+ 2000HGS.
  7. Damnit man...that had to be a tough one to let go.
  8. Wow...Interested in selling?
  9. Nice Calcutta! I agree on the longer handle...makes all the difference in the world. How long is that one? I went 100mm on my Conquest.
  10. ...the '14 Conquest 100/101 is greatest reel ever made. That is all. Disclaimer: I had a root canal today and Hydrocodone may be responsible for this post.
  11. I remember being young and broke. I don't miss the broke part. Congrats on a good tourny and doing more with less. It will make you appreciate the nice things that I am sure are in your future.
  12. Thanks Goose! That is a great looking fish. That Met in on a 803c. The spinning rod is a 852s...a little light for a jig, but that setup skips a bait so nicely I thought it may be good for getting under docks/cover. My next NRX will be a 4 power.
  13. Buy some good quality EVA or cork knobs and be done with it.
  14. I am determined to learn how to fish a jig. Next time out, these are all that are coming with me....
  15. That sucks man. Take it back. Call BPS tell them you are hours away from the store and they may ship you a replacement.
  16. Take off the sideplate and make sure the spool is seated properly.
  17. Love it! Such an awesome reel, you won't want to put it down. The handle is even on the correct side!
  18. Thanks. Those are the three reels I was really wanting to hear compared. The '16 Stradic CI4+, '16 Vanquish, and Stella. Pretty awesome that you own them all. Would you say the Vanquish is the sweet spot? Does it feel more like the Stradic or more like the Stella? I was wondering if there was a noticeable with the Micro Module gears. Is it as pronounced as it is with the baitcasters? If for some reason you want to sell the Vanquish, let me know. I would want the 2500HGS.
  19. So, you are taking someone fishing with you that is visiting from out of town or for some reason does not have any of their own tackle. Do you have a designated "Loaner" setup? Of course there are some people you would let use anything in your boat...a family member, close friend, responsible experience fisherman, etc. I am just talking about your average buddy, with average fishing experience. The thought of a buddy blasting the tip of a NRX off of my engine cowling is enough to make me cringe. At the same time, I would want to put something in their hands that is enjoyable to fish with...something that is probably nicer than anything an average joe fisherman would have used. I don't really have anything right now that I would feel real thrilled about handing over. As I have bought nicer stuff, I have given away quite a few...to the point where my "worst" spinning setup is a Stradic FK on a GLX. So, I am thinking about picking something up I would be more comfortable loaning out and also not mind using myself if the occasion arose. So, if you have a go to "Loaner" setup, what is it?
  20. That sucks. The question is, do you blame the guy for picking it up? I would have been torn. I hate the thought of taking someone else's setup, but I also hate the idea of some kid sword fighting with a Avid/Alphas. Would have you taken it if you found it?
  21. I know in my mind that you are right. And I guess the same can be said for my casting reels. As far as function my Currado is probably just as good as my Metanium or Conquest. But man do you feel the difference when you sit down the Currado and pick up one of the other two. I'm torn. That guy in the youtube video sounds like me. I replaced every bearing in my Conquest with ceramic hybrids and have more money in upgrades for my Metanium than I paid for the reel...lol. I am a tinkerer.
  22. You are not helping my wallet Stingray. Has anyone compared the '14 Stella to the '16 Vanquish?
  23. How do you like your Twinpower? How does it compare to the CI4+? I am thinking if I make the move it will probably be to a '16 Vanquish. I would pair it to my NRX 852.
  24. I did not have a problem shelling out a decent chunk of change for my Conquest and Metanium, but for some reason have not been able to pull the trigger for a true high end spinning reel. I have some nice ones...a new '16 Stradic CI4+, a Stradic FK, a JDM Soare CI4+, etc. but I keep getting tempted to pick up Something more in the league of the Conquest. A Twinpower, '16 Vanquish, or even a Stella. I don't regret spending the money on the Conquest or Met at all...they are both truly exceptional. So my question to the guys that shelled out for the high end spinners, are they worth it? Do you regret it? Also which would you recommend for the money? Twinpower for ~$330, '16 Vanquish for ~$440, or go all the way...Stella ~$650?
