  1. Tracker has come a looooong way from mediocrity.
  2. How many amps per bank do you guys recommend? I see Minn Kota makes a 3 bank/5 amp per bank charger that is priced reasonably.... http://www.amazon.com/MinnKota--Board-Battery-Charger-Banks/dp/B0042T8XRC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1461300606&sr=8-1&keywords=minn+kota+3+bank+battery+charger
  3. d**n...that makes me want to buy an Antares.
  4. I am going to keep the gold. I think I like the look better and it feels more solid. I had never had the RCS knobs before, I like them a lot. I have a set of Avail EVA knobs I tried on there and prefer these.
  5. Those that say they don't lose money on their custom rods please explain. Who are you selling them to? Why is someone buying a second hand custom rod for the same price they could have one built to their personal taste? Everytime I see a custom for sale it is a good bit cheaper than when it would cost to have built...usually not even the price of the materials.
  6. I agree for the most part, but there are exceptions within the series. The split grip GLX CBR is the best crankbait rod I have ever used.
  7. I have gotten skunked like it is my job at Grove and City Hall over the last week. I usually can only get out for an hour or so at a time, which makes it tough to "figure it out". Anyone had any luck at the Memphis ponds this week? What were you throwing?
  8. Really tough call. They are definitely my two favorite reels I have owned. I think I would go with the Conquest for your application.
  9. I had one and liked it. I would say it compares favorably to an Avid. It is a nice stepping stone in the G-Loomis family.
  10. Decided to try a gold handle instead of the carbon fiber one on my Conquest. The stock handle was WAY too short. When I got it I had a spare 95mm DIY carbon handle I threw on there with the factory knobs. I decided I wanted to see how the gold looked. I ordered an Avail 100mm handle and RCS cork knobs. I think I like it better? Which one do you guys think looks better? Before: After:
  11. Thanks for the encouragement fellas. I am pretty determined to get the ball rolling on this sooner than later. I would really like a PT190, but I am not sure that is going to be in the budget ($10k). I am also not sure if it would fit in my garage. Does anyone know how long a trailered PT175 and PT190 are with the fold away tongue folded in? Ideally I would like to be able to store it with the transom saver in place. My garage is 22'x12'. Also, I plan on towing it with my 2004 V6 2wd Explorer. It came with a class 2 hitch rated at 3500lbs and 350lbs tongue weight. Would that be OK to tow a PT175 or PT190?
  12. If you miss it you should buy mine!...lol. Black over red 6 speed car. Heads, cam, longtubes, built trans, etc etc... Makes 418 to the wheels.
  13. I saw this chunky girl head down, tail up digging her bed at Grove last weekend. I sat a few different things on her nose, she was completely oblivious... Any of you guys ever use a Ned Rig around here? I know they are real popular in the mid-west. Just curious.
  14. I have been an avid bass fisherman for many many years. In the past I have owned simple 14 Jon Boats and fished mostly neighborhood has restricted lakes. I recently moved to the Memphis area and there are some larger fisheries I would like to fish and am currently boatless. I am thinking of selling my 2004 GTO and using the money to buy an aluminium bass boat. I would be looking at a budget of around $8000. I am thinking of something like a mid-2000s Tracker PT175. I know his is a very popular boat. Is there anything I should be looking out for? Is that budget realistic? This is a much larger boat purchase than I have ever thought about making. Are there other models I should be looking at?
  15. I have been thinking about picking up a tracker lately. Something like a Pro Team 175. Are there any large pre-owned dealers? I would love to find one a few years old for under $10k. Is that realistic?
  16. You would have to rip my Conquest 101/ GLX 785 CBR out of my dead lifeless hands. I actually like it better than my '13 Met/NRX 803c setup.
  17. Nice collection. Pair those GLX CBs with Conquest 101s...that combo is crankbait nirvana.
  18. The Booyah One Knocker is a solid continuance of the X-calibur. They are the only lipless crank I like better than the RES. I did not know that SK was making a knocker style lipless. I will have to check it out. Also the Yo-Zuri 3DS vibe is worth a look. They have produced well for me lately...particularly the "Sexy Shad"
  19. I wear polos...usually Columbia Utilizer or Columbia Perfect Cast. I had heard good things about Huk, so I ordered one of these: http://www.sierratradingpost.com/huk-high-performance-polo-shirt-short-sleeve-for-men~p~114uk/?filterString=s~huk%2F&colorFamily=03 but I have not worn it yet.
  20. It is really kind of silly. They carry a beginner stigma because it is what you would tie on to help someone inexperienced easilly catch fish. Ironically, that is all I want to do...have an easy time catching fish.
  21. I have caught MANY bass with a Mepps. When I was young, on lazy days I would toss one behind my trolling motor equipped Jon Boat and troll the lake we lived on. It was shockingly effective.
  22. I bought both a FK and CI4+ at the same time. I still have the FK...the CI4+ has moved on. I just like the way the FK feels better. I rarely fish a spinning set up all day to where the weight would make a difference.
  23. Use it to hold the spool when re-spooling your baitcasters.
  24. I have owned a couple different Pfluegers and never had a problem with any of them, but they have all moved on to another fisherman. Like I said, they are a fine reel. I think it may depend what market segment a person is talking about when comparing the two. Shimano does not offer a reel that can compete with the President at it's price. However when you get into the Stradic ($150) and above I don't think Pflueger compares nearly as well.
