Strike King Bitsy Bug
They are a great jigs, just watch out on the real small sizes because their hooks are small as well. I feel they have poor hook up ratios on large bass. I can't remember but I think they make a 1/4 oz and maybe a 3/16 oz? If so, those were OK hook sizes but I know for sure the 1/16th oz I've had trouble on larger fish with.

shakey head where, when and how?
X2 on what RoLo has said. I despise the term shaky head and simply refer to it as a jig head. Its one of those age old techniques that someone thinks they invented just because they changed the name. Use any worm, but in slow fishing conditions the stick worms work better. Very sound technique in most places. Like the others said, you really can't go wrong with it.

jigs
Yepp... any of those will do. BPS will sell a bagillion but don't let it get to you, most brands are good enough. I like strike king and booyahs myself. Really any trailer would do fine, I havn't had much luck with any more than another, although I like zooms quite a bit. Most people that are new to jig fishing I recommend they get something light weight (unless your fishing real deep water). A 1/4 oz is a real good weight to start with for anything < 15ft deep with not much wind. Windier days and deeper water may warrant more weight. A lighter weight seems easier to fish for people who are used to texas rigged worms etc, then you can work your way heavier as you get the feel for it.

PB Today, how big do you think?
read the thread man,lol I'd say it could go from 2.25-2.75 lbs Agreed... great job

27 lb thrust and Jon Boat
I agree, it will work for what you need it for 95% of the time unless you fish in a wind tunnel. Just know your limits and take a paddle : )

Ok people we need input!
I like the white as well, shows up a little better. Is that the size you'll have it? A little smaller would do better for the fancy red swirling your covering up. Looks great though!

Morning of 7/2/09
Haha... with that setup Im not sure it would have mattered even if the musky bit, youd been along for a ride. UL's can be alot of fun though. Sounds like a good day to me! Alot better than being at work like myself.

scale unit conversions
I have never seen hanging scales do decimals but the normal table style yes. Even if they did read it wrong it shouldn't really matter as long as they weighed it wrong for everyone.

Sputterbuzz
Im sure youd catch fish on it... give it a whirl!

selecting the correct trolling motor
Not so sure you want to buy the longest shaft you can afford, if you fish anywhere thats actually shallow and you have to shorten it it will make it stick up real high, even enough it can get in the way of casting. They make some that are ridiculously long for big deep V's. Get the best approximated length you need, but like bigbassguy said, if your inbetween go to the bigger. I do agree with Catt though on power. You will never regret going the largest you can afford.

Jig Skirts
Yep... thats a good place to start. There is a youtube video on the bottom left of their home page that shows how to do everything.

Back problems when fishing.
Second the doctor thing. If your young you shouldn't be having those problems yet unless your into some kind of crazy contact fishing Im unaware of. There could be something more wrong than bad posture or a kink. Im 25 and don't have any issues yet in tournaments. A good seat, whether you lean on it or sit on it can help tremendously. I also second the shoes idea, poor shoes/soles can lead to tons of problems.

Anyone have experience with the G3 Eagle Series?
I have a G3 1860 CCT, its not an eagle but basically the same type of thing. Its an aluminum mod V hull and does very well in rough water, although its not going to be as smooth as a fiberglass. Ive been very pleased with mine so far and have beat the heck out of it in the year Ive owned it with no issues. I love the Yamaha motor as well. I got the F90 (4 stroke) and its one smooth motor. Very quiet but still have plenty of power. I looked over those eagles when I was messing around at the dealer the other day and they seam to be very fishable, but I have not personally been on one in the water. Mine has no wood on the decks so I can't state anything about that either.

Thank you Side-Finder...few questions too
Pretty sure dead grass won't turn away fish. I have fished naturally dead grass in the fall and early spring and did very well on it. Not sure about chemically killed grass though. What type of grass was it? Sporatic grass beds are great places to fish weightless sinkos or flukes etc. If it was thicker I would have chosen to use something more like a tube and try to hit the holes or punch holes in it. Good job though!

Issues With Extreme Flex In a Tracker Grizzly AW CC
Not a grizzly owner but I do own an AW CC from G3 and was wondering how you even discovered the issues? Not sure Id know that if it happened. I would hope not to many other people have had that issue. Even if you ran it through rough water welds should hold. Most of the time welds are as strong or stronger than the material being welded.

caught a new PB!!!!
5lbs? Thats crazy. As long as you couldn't see its ribs and it was a genetic messup it weighs more than 5 lbs. Here in Indiana, a solid, averagely fat 20" fish is 5 lbs. I would guestimate the weight of your fish at or above 7 lbs.

Boat Repair = Forever
Ive had that type of thing happen to me before. What makes me mad is when they don't get to even starting on it. They shouldn't have told you to take it in the 17th if they couldn't get to it till next week. The way I see it is if its scheduled for a day, they should be starting that day. Its just a way for a place that is really backed up to steal your business from somewhere else that may have been able to get you in quicker. Good luck man, its terrible having your boat out for that long and not knowing when it will be back.

Places to buy Jigs
I was wondering where you lure makers would buy some pre-formed jigs (without skirts). I was thinking about making my own combinations but Im not really wanting to pour lead right now. My personal preference for a jig is a larger hook and light-weight wire weed guard (I dont like the thick stiff ones). Painted is good as well, but I can do that if I need to. Any of you recommend a good place to buy some? I heard that fishing skirts.com was good for the skirts. Feel free to recommend a particular style or jig as well, Im always open to opinions.

Lost my first bass
Ya... its going to happen once in awhile. Do you know why? It looks like your hook was on the lip, maybe I just didn't see it right. Does suck you couldn't eat it.. but look at it this way, you could have saved the life of a poor baby starving turtle : ) Nature will take care of it and use it just as you would have. Everything goes around and around.

Where's my boat keys?
On my Yammy they told me you have to have the exact key number to get another one from the factory. If you lose the keys and number then you have to put in a new ignition. Sounds crazy to me... just what they told me.

Can I put JJ's in a spray bottle?
JJs seems like too much work for me. I don't want to read an MSDS, wear PPE, and take 5 prevenative steps to use a garlic dye and keep it from exploding. If it eats away at the plastic so easily what about any that would touch your line? Since it supposedly hardly ever washes off, would it not sit there and eat at your line? They make plastic (HPDE) bottles that are chemically resistant to almost anything. If it couldn't be put in those then Im suprised they'd even let the stuff out on the water. Spray is definately easier, but true it does waste some. I have some of the spike-it that comes in both aerosol and dips (which I feel works just as good by the way). Definately less of a worry with the aerosol but there is some overspray waste (and you have to make sure you do it on the downwind side of the boat).

Placing skimmer on a Nitro Transom
As long as you make the bottom of the transducer pretty much flush with the bottom of the boat you shouldn't have a problem. Like Catt's picture depicts... I would recommend moving it to the side of the roller and using the bracket to properly angle the transducer... as long as you think the area will still be under water.

Will a 6hp fisherman plane a 12ft rowboat?
Ummm... not even close. It will push you along though.

Modifying Jig Weight?
thanks for the tips guys... I may give that a try... not sure how you clip it with wire cutters but I'll give it a whirl!
