Micro guide set recommendation + tip top?
Hey guys I'm starting my first rod build. It's going to be on a 7 foot ML Avid SCIII blank. I'm wanting to use microguides and am having some confusion on what set to get. I'm thinking on this set, http://www.mudhole.com/Micro-Spinning-Guide-Set-Chrome-66-7-Rods?quantity=1 But it doesn't have a tip top guide and I am confused on which tip top to get. Also is this a good set for a ML rod?

Testing rod before buying
Does anybody test a rod before buying? Like a complete rig up and casting? I'm looking to build a rod on an Avid X blank and really want to test cast it to make sure it does what I want with my little jigs before I make the investment. Would this be ok to go to Cabelas and ask to do this and not even buy the rod?

Bobber slipping out of place, advice?
I've tried a few but never those rubber ones. I'll look into that.

Bobber slipping out of place, advice?
I've tried a slip bobber and those bobbers that clip onto your line. But they always seem to slip out of place. Any advice?

Homemade Hand Tied Jig Porn.........Let's see it.
Here are some of the different patterns I've been tying. Not always the prettiest but they catch me fish. Shoutout to @smalljaw67. Watched a bunch of his YouTube videos. Best ones out there to learn how to tie.

ML light jig recommendation
The Dobyns Sierra SA 700SF looks pretty sweet. That is definitely on my list now. I should have been more specific. I was mainly looking for a travel 2 piece rod I can put in my car. But I think I may save up for two now ?, that Dobyns would look real good in my rod locker on my boat. Thanks for the reply btw

ML light jig recommendation
Ive been looking all around for a ML spinning rod to throw my hair jigs. Mainly 1/8oz jigs but they range from 1/32-1/4. I don't expect the 1/32 to cast far just be able to handle it somewhat on at least a float and fly. I've got my eye on the Fenwick ML HMG as I have had good experiences with fenwick. I'll be fishing for bass but also panfish or whatever bites my small jigs. I want to keep it around 100-150 but will push it to $200 if need be. Thanks, Ryan

1/16 hair jig
What ML rods does everybody use? I throw mainly 1/16-1/4 hair jigs and in the market for a ML rod. Right now I'm using a medium fenwick aetos rated 1/16-5/8 but I want something a little lighter in my arsenal for my hair jigs.

Good youtube channels?
I've unsubscribed to a lot as a lot of them now are more "vlogs" than fishing. What does everybody watch? I'll start off and list a few one my favorites. Tim Galati, Fishaholic Fishing, Uncut Angling (39 hours series one of the best fishing videos/series I have ever watched). And the best of them all Hank Patterson.

Fenwick Aetos on sale, $95
On their official website. I bought it when it was on sale for $125 2 days ago. I just looked on their website today now its $95! I should have waited, I almost did wait. But that is an extremely amazing deal for $95. Bummed I could have saved $30 but oh well. I'll probably order another for $95, don't know if I can pass that up. http://www.fenwickfishing.com/fenwick-freshwater-rods/

Quality spinning reel around 150-200
Researching the Shimano Stradic C14's and felt a few of the larger models in the store. They are the best feeling reels I have seen. But the larger sizes of them and the high line retrieve is not what I'm looking for. I would like something with a lower line retrieve but as high end as the Stradic. Any suggestions? I've heard good things about the Pflueger Surpeme XT.

Should I give St. Croix another shot?
A while back I got a ML St. Croix premier and honestly I hated it. Couldn't cast right felt weird in my hand and didn't like the bite detection or fight. Since then I have been hesitant to get another St. Croix. But I've been looking at the St. Croix Panfish series 6'9" UL Fast for crappie and panfish. Another rod is the Fenwick Elite Tech River Runner 6'9" UL Fast. I have a few fenwick rods and absolutely love them. The only reason I ask this question is because the St. Croix Panfish series rod I felt in the store and it felt real nice in my hand and I really like the grip but am hesitant to how it fishes with my light 1/32 jigs. People seem to really like St. Croix rods so I thought I would give it another shot. Also the Panfish series is $30-40 cheaper.

Dropshot Rod Comparisons
They must of just put it up in the last couple of days. Fenwick is coming out with a new model Aetos. It comes in a 6'9" ML XF. I'm going to wait the couple of months and save up a few more dollars and get that one.

Dropshot Rod Comparisons
Looking to get a dedicated dropshot setup. The 3 rods I am looking at right now are the ML XF Fenwick Elite Tech, ML XF Avid X, and Cousins IM-8 in either the ML XF or the L Fast (which they label as their "drop shot rod"). Anybody have any experience in any of these rods? Thanks!

Fish shapes tally counter
Thanks! I'm pretty sure that's the exact one. Can't seem to find them in stock in many places though. It was nice also because it was slim and didn't get in the way.

Fish shapes tally counter
I was on a guided trip and the guide had a little tally counter in the shape of a fish and I believe it was painted like a trout. Anybody know where to get one like that?

St Croix Panfish L or UL?
Looking for a rod to throw my crappie jigs I tie, usually 1/32-1/8 jigs. I would be catching crappie, perch, and any other panfish. There's always the occasional chance for a bass too. I was looking at the 7' L X-Fast and the 6'9" UL Fast. I'm leaning towards the UL because from my experience St. Croix rods run a little heavier than listed.

Hair jig storage in bags
Anybody have a good recommendation for a tackle binder? All the ones up for sale seem to be bigger than I would like. I would want a slim binder that holds a dozen to two dozen jigs.

Brown trout from lake shore
Going to try to fish a very clear stocked lake in MA. I have a fly rod and also some casting bubbles for spinning equipment. I don't know too much about trout fishing. What do you all suggest?

Barlow Tackle ship time
Ordered some stuff on Thursday. Was hoping it would come by Wednesday. I placed a larger order and it seems like it will take a while to ship. That's what I've seen from the reviews I've read. They charged my card yesterday, so hopefully that means they shipped but I can't even call them until Monday because they are closed on weekendsz

Fishing same location vs trying new spots
How often do you stick with your favorite body of water vs. switching it up. Obviously if you have a really big body of water it would be a little different. But I find myself fishing this same reservoir which is about 325 acres, over and over again, because it is very low pressure and I know every rock and piece of structure in the lake. I do about 70% of my fishing here, because it has been a very long time since I have gotten skunked here because I know it so well. Do you like to switch up your spots or stick to your bread and butter? How much do you stuck to one lake and how big is that lake?

What size hooks for Hair Jigs?
Trying to find a good mold to purchase but am unsure what mold to get and what hook sizes to use. I want a collarless round head but for tying hair jigs. Afraid I'm going to get a mold and I won't like the hooks it can fit.
