  1. I have been using XPS Flouro for sometime now and am very pleased with it. The only problem is that I have to order to from Bass Pro (no local stores around). I'm glad to hear that the Berkley Trilene Flouro is good stuff, because I know I can pick that up locally.
  2. I obviously stole this idea from Fish Chris and his post last year. KU's "Results" thread made me look for a post on '08 predictions and didn't find one, so I thought I would start one. I added the "Beyond" part to see what your "lifetime" goal is. '08 Goal (or Prediction) Smallmouth: 6lb.+ Largemouth: 7lb. + Muskie: 45in.+ Lifetime Goals (or Hopefully Predictions) Smallmouth: 7lb.+ Largemouth: 10lb.+ Muskie: 50in+
  3. You may have to get a new sound card. Sometimes the plug on the sound card gets loose and causes the crackling you hear. Sound Cards are not that expensive and very easy to replace. I would get a new one and replace the old one. If the problem still exisits, then return the new sound card you purchased and call Dell or the Geek Squad, because there are more serious issues wrong with your machine.
  4. Have you had a lightning storm lately? I blew out a set of speakers because of lightning (I unplugged my computer, monitor, printer, scanner, fax, etc., except my speakers). After the strike, the speakers sounded a lot like yours do. I had to get new ones.
  5. I love how you wrap your rod handles (especially the foregrip).
  6. Dodgeguy must have stock in Bass Pro. He defends this store and their house brands as if they were his own. Would you feel different if it was Cabelas pulling a little bit of a bait-and-switch with their Prodigy reels? I purchased an "Extreme" combo from Bass Pro a while ago and when I received it, the rod was a "XPS Extreme Performance" rod and not an "Extreme" rod. If they were not trying to fool people, then why didn't they call the rod "XPS Performance" instead of "XPS Extreme Performance" and advertise it as an Extreme combo knowing full well they have a line of popular rods labeled "Extreme." I like Bass Pro, but I can see everyone's point about them being deceptive. Picture it, a 14 year old boy is saving for his dream set-up, a Bass Pro Extreme Rod and Extreme Reel (obviously, this boy hasn't been exposed to G Loomis, Shimano, Daiwa, Dobyns, Kistler, etc. yet). The boys grandmother decided to do something very nice for this boy for Christmas, since he had just lost his parents (they didn't die, but they left their son, because his dream set-up was a BPS Extreme Rod and Reel). This Grandmother found one the boys Bass Pro Catalogs laying around and saw the "Extreme" combo on sale. The Grandmother orders this combo and on Christmas day, the boy opens up his gift. The boy sees that the Grandmother had bought him an "XPS Extreme Performance" rod and not the "Extreme" rod he had dreamt of. He expressed his disappointment and the Grandmother ended up selling the boy on eBay along with the "Extreme" combo.
  7. Get a G Loomis GLX MBR844C. This should fit all our needs and the good news is that since Shimano owns G Loomis, you money will go to making the same person rich as it would if you buy a Cumara.
  8. I thought the same thing when I received both catalogs. Cabelas has the new G Loomis Swimbait rods, which I was surprised to see (since I didn't see them in the Bass Pros catalog)
  9. This is what I use: When fishing crankbaits: 12 lb. Flouro When fishing suspending jerk baits: 12 lb. Flouro When fishing jigs: 50 lb. Braid When fishing texas rigs: 12 lb. Hybrid on 1 set-up & 30 lb. Braid on another set-up When fishing spot removers, shakey heads: 10 lb. Hybrid When fishing spinnerbaits: 12 lb. Hybrid When fishing topwaters: 14 lb. Mono dropshotting: 8 lb. Hybrid Carolina rigging: 30 lb. Braid with Flouro Leader Frogs: 30 lb. Braid
  10. I don't have a dedicated buzzbait set-up, but I either use my spinnerbait set-up (which is a G Loomis Spinnerbait Rod 6'9" MH, Pflueger President Baitcaster, and 12 lb. Hybrid line) or my topwater set-up (which is a G Loomis Bronzeback Rod 6'9" MH, Johnny Morris Reel, 14-lb Mono line). Either one of these rods I would highly recommend for throwing a buzzbait.
  11. Which is probably what those stuip kids will do when they realize that thier Snakehead is too big for that little tank.
  12. Fly fishing in New Zealand for trophy Brown Trout. Even if I didn't catch a single fish, the scenery alone would make it a dream come true. Though, the 20+ hour flight is what will probably always keep this as a dream.
  13. The first day of trout season (second Sat. in April) usually starts off my fishing year.
  14. As mentioned before, Largemouth Bass have been introduced into the lakes of Japan and I've heard they are trying to eliminate them so they don't interupt the native fish (such as the beautiful carp). Though, someone who may know more about this situation could comment.
  15. I had a friend of mine who just started bass fishing ask me what lures he should buy. I told him the two must have lures are the Senko (or senko style lure) and a Lucky Craft Pointer 100SP. I caught a majority of my fish on these two lures. So to make a long story short, the LC Pointer 100 is a must buy and in the Spring, you may not even throw another lure.
  16. I thought the same thing. Well, 15 G Loomis rods later I was then convinced I was done. Well, a few days ago, I started thinking, "I need to upgrade all my Musky rods." Now I am looking at buying G Loomis Musky Rods. It is a never ending process. That freakin' monkey will find a way to get you.
  17. Where is the best place to buy a Curado 100D? Delos used to have the 100D for $165, but since Shimano offered the $50 rebate, they raised the price to $199.99. Do any of you guys know a reliable place that I can get a brand new Curado 100D that is cheaper then BPS and Cabelas, but would still qualify me for the rebate (I know I could get a good deal on eBay, but I couldn't take advantage of the rebate). Thanks!
  18. If you're not in the BCS Championship Bowl, then you might as well be in the Via.gra Erection Bowl. I also don't understand why Division 1 college football doesn't have a playoff system (every other Division of college football has playoffs). These bowl games are stupid. WVU could probably be good enough to win the Championship, but because of that loss to PITT, was never given an oppurtunity to prove it. These idiotic bowls are the main reason I am not a fan of college football. Now college basketball on the other hand, nothing is better then March Madness.
  19. Don't forget to add that WVU manhandled Oklahoma, but couldn't manage to beat PITT in their most important game of the season.
  20. Either way, PITT achieved the goal of screwing up WVU's season (which PITT did to themselves in week 3), hence why they were in the Fiesta Bowl and not in the BCS Champion Bowl.
  21. "BUT, answer me this. HOW IN THE WORLD DID PITT WIN THAT GAME" Pitt is better then WVU (Just think of what PITT would have done to the Sooners if they were in the Fiesta Bowl)
  22. I have the G Loomis Mossyback BCR894C that I use for flipping and I love it. That main reason I did not want the GLX version was because of the fact that I like using braid for flipping and I didn't want the recoil guides (I have the G Loomis Mossyback Carolina Rod BCR874 also, which is another great rod). I had a telescopic flipping stick, but it was too heavy and I didn't like the telescoping part. The Mossyback is very lightweight (for a flipping stick), though, it obviously is not as light as the GLX version and it may not be as sensitive, but the Mossyback is a beast. You can really rip the fish out of heavy cover with this stick. I would highly recommend it if you are looking for a lightweight flipping stick without the Recoil Guides.
  23. I have been reading this post and I have to say that I can't get over some of the responses. People get so bitter over the fact that someone doesn't like the Carrot Stic, or G Loomis, or St. Croix, etc. I fish with G Loomis and Cabelas XML rods exclusively. I don't get offended if someone says that G Loomis is overpriced or that Cabelas rods suck. These are the rods I enjoy fishing with and that's all that matters to me. I don't hold stock in either company, so I have no personal invested emotions towards each brand and I don't know why so many people take threads like this personal.
  24. The Top 5 that I own (in no particular order) Daiwa Viento Shimano Curado 100D Abu Garcias Revo SC Daiwa Sol Pflueger President
  25. Great Fish, but the best part of the picture is the hat
