  1. Not only would I say that Lucky Craft is worth the money, but a Megabass Vision 110 is definately worth the $30 price tag they come with. These lures have a premium price tag for a reason.
  2. I have the GLX BCR854C and that is about as close to what I would site for my specifications (plus the warranty will be on the whole rod and not just the blank).
  3. I'm a little confused as to why it matters? I have tried to fish with a Split Grip rod and did not like it at all. I went back to full grips and will never go back. Even if you told me that a Split Grip Rod was tested by Myth Busters and found it to be 150% more sensitive than a Full Grip, I still would use a Full Grip, because a Split Grip is not comfortable to me. Therefore, I think it is largely a matter of personal preference and comfort, because there is no substitute for confidence on the water no matter how sensitive your equipment is.
  4. : I thought you would enjoy that one.
  5. Message to G Loomis: To Whom It May Concern, Please do not alter your design (especially changing to Split Grips). Your products have outperformed the competition for a long time (and continue to do so). Please don't stoop to the level of other manufacturers who feel they need to alter the way their rods look in order to sell products (which I guess is a way to make up for their lacking in performance). I own 20+ rods manufactured by your company and I could not be more pleased (though, I think you missed the boat a little when designing the Frog Rod). Thanks again for producing such fine products and for increasing my enjoyment while on the water. PS I hope you continue to have the Xpeditor Warranty Service long into the future, which is another reason I purchase your rods.
  6. I've had my Viento for over a year and a half and independent of the Twitching Bar, it is a great reel. I hadn't used the twiching bar feature much until I recently discovered that the twiching bar imparts an excellent action to top water frogs. Overall, I think you will be very pleased with the Viento, even if you don't find yourself using the twitching bar that much.
  7. I assumed it probably would be reviewed at some point, but I was hoping it would be one of the first ones reviewed. (I got my G Loomis swimbait rod for $159 off eBay, which I couldn't pass it up).
  8. I have the SMR882S and I think it is a very good rod. I am not sure where how it is constructed between the GL3, IMX, GLX catergories, but I agree with the above poster, it does not feel as sensitive as my IMX, but it is more sensitive then my GL3. I use my SMR882S for LM Bass all the time. I mainly fish flukes and shaky heads with it, but I have thrown Senkos and drop shot rigs with it. My only complaint (and it is minor) is that the rod is slightly tip heavy, but since these rods are so light to begin with, you don't notice it much.
  9. I was wondering why TackleTour has not tested out the G Loomis Swimbait rods yet? They have tested everything else out there. I was waiting for them to conduct their review so I could add that to my decision process as to buy one or not, but I couldn't wait any longer. I purchased the SWBR904C and I am very glad I did. What a GREAT rod. I guess in the end, I don't need TackleTours review, but it is always nice to see.
  10. You should learn the gut hook removal technique. Below is a link to a very good explanation of it. http://www.in-fisherman.com/magazine/articles/if2806_HookRemoval/ Whenever I gut hook a fish, this technique is very easy and I think really helps the fishes chance of survival.
  11. I am somewhat new to the swimbait movement and was wondering what type of line most fishermen use with swimbaits. Thanks for the responses.
  12. They do feel different at first in a 2 handed cast but I've found they are easy to get used to if you give them a chance. Not everybody will like them though. I had a split grip rod for about a year (figuring that I would try and get used to it), but it just never felt comfortable. So back to the full cork grip I went (I'm just glad G Loomis has full cork grips still)
  13. Split Grips Suck. (Disclaimer: This is my personal opinion only based off of my own experience. This is not meant to be factual in any way)
  14. I saw that list before. How on Earth is PIB only #10 on the Large Reservoirs/Lakes list? It should be #1...in the world. A 50 bass day is not uncommon. Also, How is Peters Lk Rs No. 2 make #3 on the Small Reservoirs/Lakes list? I have never caught a bass there and have seen a few very small ones in the shallows. (Disclaimer: The above statements are based off of my experience only and are just my opinions)
  15. Thanks RW, but I would switch you in a second. Let me hold a 7lb. and 8lb. Smallmouth and you can have my dinky little stock photo of a 3 pounder jumping.
  16. My favorite part of catching a nice fish is not on your poll. My favorite part is "Admiring a Nice Photo of the Fish Years Later" All the items you listed are what make up catching a big fish enjoyable (except for "Losing The Fish During a Fight". I don't know how that made the list), but looking at a nice photo really helps me remember an event that might take a few minutes to happen (and usually my adrenaline is running so high, I can't truly appreciate the moment).
  17. I think I know where Huntforever is coming from. I have probably 20 bass set-ups, which I have fine tuned to my personal preference, but I also have interest as to what the Pro's use. My interest is not for guidance, since personal experience and preference has led me to what I own, but out of curiosity.
  18. Looks like a bowfin...also called a dogfish or mudfish...I could be wrong of course..... Mostly live in the deep south I believe.... That appears to be a Bowfin to me as well (though, the ones I have caught around here have a large round spot by their tail). In Western PA, there are several lakes and streams that have Bowfin present.
  19. Man, how on earth do you fish that lake? I'm not asking for any secret spots, but I couldn't figure those fish out. I spent a lot of time in the 4 to 5 feet flats and then moved to the drop offs from these flats. No great success. Admittingly, I suck with a jig, but I was forcing myself to use one down the slope or these drop offs. Also, what do you throw to cope with the crappy water clarity? Again, I am not asking for any secret location, I just am looking for some help to unlock that lake. PS Congratulations on your good day.
  20. I love Yo-Zuri Hybrid, but I do not like Ultra Soft At ALL. I bought some Ultra Soft thinking it would be better, but I hated how it handled. I'm back to the regular Yo-Zuri Hybrid.
  21. Today was the first time that I was ever on Lake Wilhelm. We fished hard today and only manged 3 LM Bass between the two of us. I heard this was a good bass lake, but I found it to be a tough place to fish. I was just wondering if others find it challenging or is it more of the fact that I don't know the lake very well (and need to learn it). Share your opinion of Wilhelm with me if you don't mind.
  22. I would only keep a world record. State records really don't interest me. It would be a nice achievement to break a state record, but I wouldn't need the recognition for doing so. I would let the fish swim away to produce more little state records. That's just my humble opinion.
  23. Yup, in 6 or 8. x3 on the 8 lb.
  24. This is a great technique. I have used it many times and from what I can tell, the fish I have used it on swam away fine (though, from reading the other posts, they may have swam away to die somewhere else). It's an easy technique to learn and when using Tiki Sticks, it will be used several times.
