  3. I just bought me a couple jigs and some of uncle joshes pork trailers. I also bought some YUM craws which I was going to use as a regular lure but I was reading the board and saw you can use them as trailers. Which ones work better for which type of situations. and can you use craws as a lure?
  4. hey this spring im thinking about getting into baitcast fishing since ive only used spinning reels in the past. What is a good rod length and everything for bass? I want to use jigs(i guess flippin and pitching) as well as plastics, spinners, and cranks. whats a good size rod and a good brand reel thats fairly cheap(70 dollars or less)
  5. what are some lures that you should have if you want to catch bass any time of the year? I dont have a great selection of lures and wanted to stock up for the rest of the winter and early spring.
  6. also i have been having a few problems which i thought maybe you could help me on. you know when you first turn on the fish finder it has 3 dashes by the FT? Well when this is in the water this happens to me and i just have to restart it all. does this do it to you any? I didnt know if i had to wait for it to read or mines messed up, because sometimes itll have lets say 6'5" on there and then it goes to the 3 dashes. do you know why it does that? thanks!

  8. http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Norcross%20Hawkeye%20FF3355P%20Hawkeye%20Portable%20Fishfinder%20With%20WeedID:2003377393 does anyone have this portable fish finder? Ive been having a little bit of trouble at times getting it to read even while in the water it does not show the depth. Also does anyone know the proper depth you should have the sensor below the float and how do you mount or troll with it? One more thing. when it reads fish is that directly below the sensor?
  9. i have been reading a lot about jigs and already have a few, but was wondering is it necessary to have a trailer to get the most out of a jig? If anyone has a link to basspro.com for the correct type of trailer please tell me. thanks!

  11. first off the key to catching winter bass is to look deep right? Now it is 55 degrees here in jacksonville nc so i dont know if that changes anything. So what are the best times to fish during winter? I recently got a hawkeye portable fish finder, so I can see the depths and where there are fish. What depths are bass usually at during this time?
  12. anyone have one of those hawkeye ones? i got me one for christmas. it seems to work pretty good i guess but sometimes it doesnt read. anyone else have this problem
  13. should a guy like me who cant catch bass in the spring or summer even try going out and catching something this winter? I live in jacksonville,nc and i swear it seems there only catfish, gar, and bowfin the places I fish. With there not being many bass I guess, and the cold weather is it even worth my time to try and catch a bass this winter like years past or just wait till spring
  14. ever since BR got the new layout i cant view my messages. It says I have one new message but it wont let me look at it.
  15. Anyone know how good portable fish finders work? I fish the bank a lot and have a plastic pelican boat so I wanted to be able to use them at both places. Does anyone know where I could find a good one and cheap(under $100). Thanks!
  16. well my parents arent military. i know there are fish in mill creek like gar and bow fin but i want to find some bass in jacksonville. i have a trolling motor, so i can take my boat a little ways out of mill creek. Have you ever fished by the marina docks?
  17. o thats cool. i take my little pelican out on mill creek down by mai tai but didnt have any luck this past weekend. so rapalas are what u are using and are having luck? ill have to try them next
  18. o dang i didnt know anyone else here was from jacksonville. where do you fish at?
  19. Usually this time a year in NC the fish are usually slow and dont bit much for me, but not with the temperature in the 70s what types of lures would work on a warm day? Also what kind of lures work good below 60 degrees
  20. how would using it make the crack bigger? if it wears off?
  21. Hey well I just went to the hardware store to try and find something to fix the small crack in my plastic pelican boat and he gave me 3M Marine Adhesive Sealant, but it says fiberglass and wood. I always thought my boat was fiberglass anyways but some on here have told me it was plastic. So will this stuff work? If so how do you use it?
  22. well the guy said it was fiberglass, but i thought before they were plastic. I dont have a picture but heres a link to what it looks like kind of. Mines probably 10+ years old though. http://www.pelicansport.com/gator.html
  23. What would you guys think is better for a 9' pelican fiberglass fishing boat, a portable fish finder or one that is mounted? I do a lot of bank fishing too since Its hard for me to transport my boat, but do can you use portable just as good as mounted on a boat? Thanks!
