A crack in my pelican fiberglass boat!
hey guys well first off i bought a pelican 9' fishing boat off of a friend for 50 bucks a couple weeks ago and i wasnt expecting much since i got it for cheap, but he told me before there was a small crack in one of the corners but he had put patched it up with silicon or something. Well after a couple of uses and sliding it down rocks and dragging it across falling trees the silicon has came off. I went to empty the boat this weekend and there was at least 2 gallons of water having to be drained. So my question is. whats the best way to repair this? Put silicon over it like he did but have a chance for it to come off and just be more careful, or is there a way to permanently fix the crack. Thanks!

Fish Finder on 9' Fiberglas Fishing Boat?
Can you put a fish finder on a small fiberglass pelican boat? If so where do you put it at? and do you need a battery for it? theres no battery in the boat since I got it for 50 bucks and the only thing its good for is it floats and you can paddle it. how would you set it up?

Are there fish in my creek?
thanks jeremy. i didnt know there was anyone from jacksonville on here. i see some minnows swimming around in there but the river is pretty muched stopped up on both ends and theres alligator weed so it seems pretty tough for there to be fish.

Are there fish in my creek?
There is a creek that runs behind my house that is probably about 15-20 feet wide. During the summer it was basically a mud pit. It had been infested with alligator weed and didnt look like anything could be living in there. In the last 2 weeks however most of it "magically" has gone away. Another problem has been the flow of the river. It used to connect to my neighbors creek which led out to the new river but the city made a road over it. Last year however they put 2 huge metal pipes in which dont really do anything unless theres a bad storm. It does lead out the other end to the main river but there are lots of trees down in the river that stop it up. So since there is basically no flow usually and the alligator weed infested it a couple months ago would there be any fish in there?

First is about the books they send you. Do you have to send them any money or actually send it back? Im not paying shipping and handling for a book i didnt ask for. Next they send me a 24$ check. Does anyone know what this is about?

Walmart 1$ spinnerbaits
do any of you guys use the walmart spinner baits that are $1? Thats all I use, since others are 3 or 4 dollars. Is there much of a difference in the walmart brand and lets say strike king?

Detecting Line Twitches
do you set the hook right when you see the twitch? or would you wait on it? this is proboaly my biggest problem.
-
Detecting Line Twitches
what do you do when its windy out?the line moves in the air and the current will take the bait sometimes
-
Bites on the fall
alright thanks for the advice. i guess i dont want to set the hooks so much because I dont want to lose a bunch of senkos by ripping them setting the hooks on nothing. I just lost 5 of my senkos in about 2 hours of fishing the last 2 days on logs and one time it got snapped in half i guess by a crab.

Detecting Line Twitches
When you look for twitches in your line where exactly am I looking? The line in the water, the air, or lined through my rod?
-
Bites on the fall
how can you tell the difference from the wind moving your line, the current, or maybe getting stuck in grass. i know you have to watch it, but ive never really watched the line when a fish bit, or even someone elses so its going to be tough.
-
Just got done using a senko
how far do you put your hook in the worm? it would seem to me that if you leave it too far back you wont be able to set the hook well enough.
-
Bites on the fall
how do you detect bites on the fall? im especially talking about a senko.

what time do you guys get out there?
Im not much of a morning guy and usually fish in the afternoon, but was thinking of giving tomorrow morning a shot and see if my luck changes any. what time do you guys usually get on the water. i bank fish so the time might not matter that much there.

Just got done using a senko
yea i am. i always have the hook out a little so I can set the hook easier, but i felt the line get tight and I set the hook on something and i lost my bait.
-
Just got done using a senko
i thought i had 2 fish at one time, but i guess i just set the hook on a log because they got snagged.

Just got done using a senko
i just went earlier and had no luck. i dont know what the problem is. i lost 2 of them in about an hour. i guess its either me or there are no bass where i fished. i really tried to watch the line for strikes, but I couldnt really tell anything, except sometimes it would get tight all of a sudden. i just might give up this fishing thing.it figures i wouldnt catch anything on the bait everyone says catches so many fish
