  1. well guys, it doesn't look like the lure-making is going to happen this year :'( The roomate I was supposed to have for this year backed out, so now I'm stuck with a 2br Apartment with $595 rent plus $200/mo. utilities/cable/internet/etc. :-/ I'm still for sure going to buy the ebook you guys told me about, and I'm going to try and learn a lot, and maybe by summer, or possibly this time next year, I'll be ready to start making some things. I really appreciate the advice though, and I am looking forward to reading the eBook. Thanks! Jason
  2. I love fishing at dawn, but work and school seem to get in the way too often and I'm fishing at dusk. But, as long as its fishing, it can be any time of day and I wouldn't care much.
  3. my largest catch was also myself about 10+ years ago. We were at a church picnic so me and my dad were fishing. I was about 7 years old and I was using a Zebco rod/reel combo. I wasn't getting any bites with my bobber set about 8" deep, and when my dad informed me that it was too shallow,..... to be a smarty pants I set it about 5' deep, which was probably about how tall I was. I cast it, and it looked fine but i felt the hook graze my leg, so I looked down expecting to see a nice cut, but instead I found the whole hook! The hook had snapped at the eye and the bard went about 1/2" into my leg and back up out. After a quick ER visit, the hook was gone and I had a funny story to tell the guys at school on Monday.
  4. I recently had the same problem. It seemed like overnight my normal fishing hole turned from very very clear to being murky with a green film overtop of it for the most part. I am glad to see this added info about how to fish the conditions.
  5. Keep us posted if you do end up getting the Cabellas game because I'm looking to buy just one nice fishing game here in the coming weeks. Thanks!
  6. I'm going to go with the Senko
  7. I am sorry that I dont have an informative answer to your question, but I think you might as well head out to the lake for at least half the day on Thursday because we all know that even if you're not catching anything,.... its probably better than not being out there at all That's definitely what I would do.
  8. I can only remember one time in my life that I have had a hook fly anywhere near my when I tried to set it. It was a jig that I was fishing about 3-5" below the surface and at strike, I guess it hit the bass' lip which popped it out of the water in time for my set. Anyway, the jig hit me square on the left lens of my sunglasses hard enough to nearly shatter the lens. :-/ The very next day I purchased a very nice pair of Polarized fishing sunglasses that are shatter proof. They'll always be in the tacklebox. ;D
  9. Thanks a lot guys, I took a look at earthworm77's site and I am VERY interested in buying the Hand Pouring 101 ebook very soon. I hope to get into actually making my own plastics by the end of October. I'm definitely one of those guys that likes to research and research some more before I dive head first into anything. Pair that long with my personality of going big or going home and I'm thinking I might have a great time making these baits. I am joining a Bass Fishing club here at Ohio State University, so who knows,.... maybe I'll start selling these plastics because I sure miss owning my own small business. This is all very exciting to me and any extra advice on what type of molds/plastic/colors/etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  10. I have wondered about storing the worms in hard cases too. Do they dry out? Someone enlighten us!
  11. The bass fishing bug has bitten me especially hard this year, and the Ohio fishing season is drawing to a close here in the coming months. :'( I think a good way to combat this lack of fishing is by doing something else fishing related, so I would love to learn to pour my own plastics, mainly senkos. I would first like to find a great book or publication about the subject, so if you know of one please let me know. Then, I would also like to know of a good way to approach this task. Let me know the best direction whether its a starter kit, or something else. I appreciate the comments!
