MLF Summit Cup
So I wonder how much the entry fee is? You would think that guys in the top 20 of the FLW would be itching to prove what they could do agianst the Elite. As far as I can tell, only Wheeler and Rose are in there.

MLF Summit Cup
Easily my favorite fishing show. What I don't understand is how these new guys get to be on show at all. There are some very big names on the FLW circuit that are not on it. Scott Martin, Andy Morgan, the Richardson brothers etc. Do they not get asked? Nothing against the new guys but I would like to see how the heavy hitters in the FLW stack up against the Elite guys. Either way I love the show That was a jerk move on KS's part. Either love Watson or you hate him. Personally i find him amusing although at times he can be too much. He kinda got what he deserved by shoving those fish in KS's face. He should have just kept fishing and let the score tracker do the talking for him. The every fish rule is what makes the show and separates it from the others. If your catch'n em', your catch'n em,

People that leave trash
I would like to see the TV shows talk about this. They have a public platform that could spread the message to millions. Back in the 60"s, there was a lot of trash in our National Parks even in the remote back country campgrounds. They have since instituted the Pack it In, Pack it Out program. It has done a nice job. The upcoming younger generation needs to be taught the value and beauty of our great outdoors. I get inflamed when i find a beer can 2-3 miles back in the mountains while elk hunting because obviously it was full at some point and if they took the trouble to carry it in there full , they could have carried it out empty. I would like to take a full trash bag and dump it in the middle of a litterer's living room. Maybe then they would get the message.

People that leave trash
I agree. People who leave trash ARE trash. I fill up my kayak often on our float trips. Pack it in, pack it out! I don't understand how someone can carry worm, brand new lures, beer pop, etc miles down a river bank and then just throw it in the ground. I run into this problem at every fishing access i go to and it absolutely infuriates me. I would absolutely say somthing and have done so in the past. I once was on a head boat in Calabasis, SC. The mates were throwing bait boxes, used line, pop cans etc. into the ocean 60 miles off shore. I mentioned something to the young mate. He said it's OK because we're "way out here, pop cans are dissolved by the salt water". I about blew a gasket. Instead of losing it, I told him it's not OK. My SnL was cut on the foot the day before by "dissolved" can. The kid was 15-16 years old and was obviously influenced by the older mate and the Captain so there was no getting thru to him. He had a smart ash answer for everything that I tried to explain to him. I spoke to another fisherman and he said the littering was the same way the previous summer when he fished on the boat. When I got home I called the owner of the boat. I explained the situation and he said they're actions were unacceptable and that he would put a stop to it. Hopefully changes were made but I will never fish with that boat again even though every body caught lots of fish. It's a huge pet peeve of mine and true outdoorsman would never do it and they would teach their children and others not to litter.

Swimbaits & Cranks in the snow
Judging by your recent posts, your killing em'. Your not frozen in over there? No open water to over here. I take that back there is the river but the last time I tried to go out in below freezing the line freeze to the guides.

October Smallies
I generally put the rods down and pick up the bow in October. I've got a day to burn at work and the wife is heading out of town next weekend. I'm thinking I should head out to lake for a long weekend and try for some those big fall Smallies . Water temp should be in the high 50's maybe low 60's but I'm guessing high 50's. 2 weeks ago we had some success but nothing like I was hoping for. I know that had a lot to with my 2d sonar be out. A rock hit my transducer on the drive in. Anyway what should I look for? I'm thinking deep rock piles near bait. Drop shots and tubes. They definitely weren't shallow. Had some success shallow on swimbaits and rattletraps but IMHO it was marginal at best. Water temps were in the low 60's. Never fished in mid October so any tips would be appreciated. Planning a fall trip myself next weekend. What techniques were using to catch them? Drop shot? tubes?

Braid to Fluoro???
This! Except I use Pete Glusek knot. The PG knot is basically an Alberto knot IMO. If you watch it as you tighten it the wraps come down on top of the other wraps forming a lock which is what the Alberto knot does. Most forms of the Albright knot are good. They go thru the guides well especially 8-12lb Fluro. I use braid for the sensitivity and the less line stretch. The FG knot is smaller and stronger if it doesn't fail but for me it fails when I tie it on light line so I don't use it. I just can't tie it well quickly so I use a knot that easier to tie and I have confidence in.

Broken Rod Repair???
That is the exact article I read. So i know it can be done.I also know I'm not the guy to do it. I'm not a rod builder so I need to find a good one. I'm not gonna give up on her yet. She's broken pretty clean about 6" above the 1st guide so I would think it's in the high power area of the rod.

Broken Rod Repair???
I had a guest on my boat. He picked up my new Cumara to move it. Well somehow he got it caught under the cleat and tried to pick it up. It snapped clean in half right in the middle. I was mad and frustrated at first but it was an honest mistake so I'm over it now. For him to replace it would be rather difficult since he's on medical disability and in financial difficulty. I'm going to buy a new one to replace it but I keep looking at those two perfectly clean broken ends and think what a waste. Surely someone has the ability to sleeve them back together. I looked it up and there was an article by some guy named Ralph O'Quinn that describes this very kind of repair. I couldn't find a number for him but there maybe there are other's that can do it. Any ideas or contacts?

Take out rod organizer - problem?
Seeing this post reminded me of a similar problem I'm having with my 17.5 Fishhawk. My floor locker isn't long enough for my 7'2' rods. Also the bottom row is for baitcasters only so it wasted space for me since i use Spinning rods. I thought about the same thing. taking out the tubes so I could use the bottom row. also thought about extending my locker 6-8" so all of my rods will fit. the new Fishhawk comes with the extended rod locker so evidently other people had the same issue.

Google crome-Google earth
The east end of Fort Peck is mapped. West end is not. West end is closer to my house only 4 hrs away. east end is 6 hrs away. Now that makes sense. The icon was there one day and gone the next. I think your right. It's hiding. i just have to figure out how to find it.

Google crome-Google earth
Ok that makes sense. When we installed GC where did the GE go? I used it all the time. Weird. This tech stuff is sometimes confusing for us middle aged guys.

Google crome-Google earth
I had it downloaded. Where did it go? Used it all the time. Now I have this Google crome. It sure looks like GE.

Straightening out hooks with 20# braid
Well heck I don't know then. It's got to be the hooks. 10lb pike aren't bending my hooks.

Straightening out hooks with 20# braid
I did but must have missed the FC leader part. my mistake. I thought he was using straight braid in heavy cover. he still could use a mono leader for some stretch. I only bend light wire hooks. My Gammy hooks rarely bend. It may be his BPS hooks. Those do bend for me on my tube jigheads.

Milfoil in our stripper pit......help please
Just google underwater weed rake.

Milfoil in our stripper pit......help please
Use that rake to make lanes. It'll be easier to fish plus give the bass some ambush points. Perfect places to throw a lure. win-win situation

Straightening out hooks with 20# braid
Here's a suggestion. Put a leader on. 6' of fluro or even better mono should give you some "give". I love braid and won't be switching anytime soon but always fish a fluro leader. I don't do much Texas rigging but I'm catching some 8-12 lb pike that aren't bending my hooks.

Google crome-Google earth
I'm trying to find some underwater humps by using google earth. Previously I had downloaded GE . I was able to change the date and look at low water years. That is no longer on my computer. I now have Google crome. I click on the upper right corner Maps section and presto it comes up. What I can't figure out is how to change the date. The lake was much lower 10 years ago but I didn't fish it then so want to go back and look. Navionics hasn't mapped this section so I don't really know whats down there. IE That underwater island I hit in 40' water that came out of nowhere. Dented up the prop pretty good. Lucky I didn't lose the lowere unit. Any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

shimano rod blanks
Lot's a feedback today. Thanks guys. I'm just waiting for it to arrive. 6'8" MF spinning. I plan to use it for tubing the river on some of my river hikes. I'm gonna put either my regular stradic c3000 on it or buy a ci4+ 3000 for i.
