Advice on underfished lake!
Well the first thing I see is that it appears relatively shallow throughout. Perhaps its the picture, maybe just my laptop, I don't know. However, it appears that there are a few pockets but a lot of shallow on the west side. Which lake is this? I'll look it up. But like @A-Jay said, what brought success during your shore adventures should continue to work with variation.

Any michigan guys here
Went out again this evening. Caught about 12 in 2.5hrs. Went out this morning and landed 3 walleye (GF landed 2 of them). The bass (all LMB) were loving my new favorite setup. ZMan Project Z w/ Kietech Easy Shiner trailer. Caught my PB for Lake Kerswill (Gladwin Co) today on it. They also bit on the dropshot mentioned above, a 1.5 Red Sexy Shad by SK, and a double willow spinnerbait (white and chartreuse) by Buddha Baits (I think?) Caught most of them in 4-8ft of water with the PB getting hooked in about 2ft (same area they'll bed down later - weird?)

Went out this evening with a ZMan Project Z & Havoc Craw Fatty in Black/Blue Fleck. First time throwing a bladed jig. Slow retrieve to keep it lower in the water column and man, it catches pike good! lol

My dropshot rig is a bit.... flacid?
Thanks! The dink ain't nothing to write home about but it sure feels good learning and seeing it pay off. You guys were tremendous in helping me out and giving me pointers. Love the way you hook yours too @Gundog!! Definitely my go to from now on!

Any michigan guys here
Went out tonight for an hour and landed three. 2 LMB (one 2lber and a dink) and a 24" pike. All caught on different lures. A KVD 1.5 squarebill crank, a dropshot w/ 4" SK Dreamshot, and a ZMan PZ Chatterbait w/ Havoc Craw Fatty in Black/Blue Fleck, respectively.

My dropshot rig is a bit.... flacid?
UPDATE I went out today with my daughter to do a little fishing at some local spots. I through a quick drop shot rig on her new 5' Lady Zebco (pink of course) and kept in mind what everyone said here. I ensured I dropped that tag end back through the eye before tieing on my sinker as well as attaching the 4" Fishog Blue paddle tail to the hook like Gundog shows. It made a world of difference in standing off the line alot better under weight!! Also threw the dreamshot on it to ensure it wasn't strictly bait related.

6th sense lipless
Sorry man, I've experienced similar things with other companies - never 6th Sense. For what it's worth, how is the customer service when you call and advise them of their mistakes?

My dropshot rig is a bit.... flacid?
I certainly appreciate the responses. I have a few things to try: 1. Ensure I looped the tag end back through the eye 2. Modify the way I hooked the Dreamshot 3. I have a ton of other softbaits I can always work with to see what fits my fancy! Might throw some of them on just to compare. Again, I appreciate the responses. Helps me out tremendously as I learn my way around a dropshot rig.

My dropshot rig is a bit.... flacid?
I'll admit, I didn't run it in the water very long. Perhaps that's part of the problem too.

My dropshot rig is a bit.... flacid?
Interesting. I can see how rigging it that way would keep the front 1/2 up more. I am going to try that and see if it makes a difference!!

My dropshot rig is a bit.... flacid?
Yep I will have to see if I did that. I believe I did but now I'm second guessing myself.

My dropshot rig is a bit.... flacid?
I don't have a problem with the hook staying perpendicular. The hook; when bare, stands completely perpendicular to the line. Nice 90 degree angle. However, when I add that Dreamshot, it goes completely limp - even in the water. I expected it to stand off the line more and have some action to it. It just looks...dead.

My dropshot rig is a bit.... flacid?
Disclaimer: I'm new to rigging dropshots! I recently took the warming trend as an opportunity to work on my rigs - since I haven't got my boat out yet. Upon rigging my first drop shot, I saw something that seemed to be an issue in my mind. Before I get into the details of that, let me explain my setup so we're all on the same page. Hook: Size 1 Gamakatsu EWG split/dropshot Weight: 1/4oz pencil dropshot sinker (locally made) Bait: StrikeKing Dreamshot 4" (Green Pumpkin for what it matters) So the issue is the Dreamshot seems to almost be too heavy. While the hook is completely perpendicular to the line, once I add the Dreamshot, it lies completely parallel (against the line). This is to be somewhat expected out of water but it does the same thing in water. I guess I expected it to remain a little more perpendicular with more action. It seems just kind of...flacid. I am not sure if I am doing something way wrong or if I should look at a more buoyant worm.... Regards, Rick

Fishin in Ross Barnett with muddy water
Muddy or dirty water means decreased visibility for the fish as much as it is for you. Taking the visualization of your presentation out of the equation, you have to account for other means to attract fish - noise, vibration, deflection, and heavy water displacement. When vision is inhibited, the bass have to rely more on their lateral line. That's why they tend to stick around cover more and that's why you need a lure that doesn't rely on being seen.

Is This Weird Behavior?
My gear never makes it's way upstairs to the bedroom (my fishing gear that is [Sickos]). However, my pre-bed ritual is BR/Navionics/Youtube (in no specific order). She'll sometimes get annoyed at that but I ignore it...

Best baits to have in first bass tournament
Perhaps the way you worded your original post confused some members. Instead of implying you have no idea what to throw; which is what your post does, lets start over. What do you plan on throwing? Have you fished there before? If so, what did you have tied on? Did it work?

Best baits to have in first bass tournament
Like anything in life, trying something new is generally not ideal when there's something on the line. Leave that to practice. My only advice is to ensure you have lures that can reach every level of that 35ft water column if you need it.

Thanks OP, for posting. I am new to bladed jigs.... and this was extremely beneficial! Just another reason I love this site. Even when I'm not intending to, I learn.

Baseball's new slide rule
I also do not agree with the "pampering" of our children. Life is filled with lessons at every turn. One of which being..falling on your fricken ass. The lesson learned in picking yourself up, and learning what put you there, is invaluable. Being defeated, losing, not getting a trophy, etc... are all lessons toward succeeding. As for baseball, nope, I can't watch it anymore. Don't worry, basketball is worse (NBA anyways).

Any michigan guys here
Went out to the creek I caught my PB (knowing fair well it's too cold for fish to be that far up it) just to cast for about an hour. Got some new tackle and a handful of custom jigs from Tim @ GLB. Next two weeks should set things in motion right?!

Yum warning shot vs SK Dream shot
I'm going crazy waiting. Like I told A-Jay, our snow blowers and lawn mowers are playing musical chairs in our sheds!! I haven't used either but I did get some SK Dream Shot bags over the winter. I just gotta wait for the weather to cooperate so I can try them out!
