  1. as long as they are not wasted. i am trying to teach my son this...he does not eat fish but wants to keep everything we catch. i told him that we would not keep what we would not eat. i have a friend who tells me to keep everything out of his pond that he lets me fish. he says that if i don't want it, just to leave it on the bank to die. i have a problem with that! it is a waste. (don't worry, i do NOT leave them that way!)
  2. Just make sure you actually need the net when you say it. two weeks ago several of my co-workers and i went to lake wateree for a weekend get together for fellowship and fishing. late friday night we were all catfishing off of the pier when one of our fellows sets his hook hard and yells "get the gaff!" 10 seconds later he reels in a monster cat that weighed all of 1 pound! he won't live that down for the rest of this year, i promise.
  3. holy snot! that is a big fish!
  4. my older brother hooked my brother in law in the forearm years ago and it resulted in...you guessed it...a trip to the emergency room. the bro in law still tells that story to this day. of course my brother does to, but he remembers it differently of course.
  5. i lucked out (with my wife's help) and got permission yesterday to fish an isolated, non-pressured pond in my home town. there are no homes around it, it is owned by one family...about 20 acres or so. the wife and father in law are friends of these people and used to fish there in the 70's and 80's. hope that it holds some bass! i can't believe my luck!!
  6. i read not too long ago of a study that was done to determine what the favorite prey of LMB was. i won't go into the whole scenario of it but the put an equal number of shad and crawfish in a huge aquarium tank and when it was all said and done, the bass ate the crawfish almost 4 to 1 over the shad. it did not take into acct. (or at least it didn't say so) whether or not it tracked healthy vs. injured specimens or not. all in all, i think it is whatever they have been conditioned to see as food in the location they are that determines their "favorite".
  7. i could not imagine the pain of losing one of our children. your friends are in my family's thoughts and prayers. NO parent should have to bury their child.
  8. Go *****! ok, we may not be very good this year...but the prison team will be awesome! just ask Tennessee!
  9. born in Pontiac, Michigan...transplanted to Lake Marion SC at the tender age of 7. Couldn't have picked a better spot to cut my fishing teeth than Santee, SC on the highly prized banks of Marion. Now i fish local ponds as well as some of the large lakes in the midlands region of SC.
  10. that's cool...i am a big man (300+lbs.) so i would need a kayak with a wide beam and high weight bearing capacity...maybe 450-500lbs. i like to feel safe!
  11. does anyone here fish from a kayak? if so, what kind? are there any used kayaks for sale on this forum?
