  1. Anybody know anything about Starve Hollow Lake down by Villonia? Are there good size fish there?
  2. Last night one of the medium size lakes was 74. Just last week I was there and the water was 84.
  3. Made it out on Saturday and between my step son and I, we caught over 40 LMB. Started the day at a location with some size 2.5 to 3.6 lbs with a chatterbait and moved to a second location he would have the ability to catch more fish and that we did.
  4. Absolutely killed it tonight before the storms hit. No joke caught a bass on about every 3rd cast. They were sitting up in the rip rap. I could eyeball the bank and see little indentation that looked like a bass would be sitting or the slight point and worked a weightless worm away away from the bank. The only disappointment was I lost the largest bass have ever had on a hook. I was reeling in as fast as I could by the started swimming towards me and I couldn't keep the line tight and he threw the hook and he was a monster, at least for me.
  5. "Level" was the description that I chose to describe the difference between anglers of different skills. Obviously those "elites" have show the abilty to consistantly catch fish but ther isn't any money in 5 pound bags so the size and quantity of the fish caught matter. So maybe you could contribute what you think made Fish Chris successful at catching large fish at a higher rate than average?
  6. The weekend angler to the local/regional tournament to the Elite Level angler each increasing in skill which translates into more/bigger fish. So if someone asked how to move from being sucessfull at one level to the next what is the key?
  7. We went out yesterday afternoon and I'm really proud of myself for being able to figure out what the fish would bite on after a really tough start. Very early on I caught a Muskie on a Bleeding Shad spinner bait. Which got me thinking the fish were going to be biting on fast presentations That wasn't the case at all. I had to keep going to lures that were slower and slower until finally I figured out the only consistent bite came on a Ned Rig with a Hula Stick. Color didn't matter it was all about the presentation which was painfully slow. Crank 4 rotation let it sink to the bottom. Then sit for a count of 2. Crank again. Once I figured this out it there was fish almost every cast.
  8. You would think wouldn't you. Just not around here.
  9. I need to clean and lube my baitcaster. I would like to do it today while it is storming but I am having trouble locating reel oil and grease in my area. It there a substitute that will work for each?
  10. Earlier this week I went to Anderson Falls in the middle of the first school day so there were only 2 other people there. I was casting a Ned Rig with a green pumpkin with red flake Hula Stick up to the base of the falls on my medium light spinning rod. Caught about 15 LMB in less than 30 minutes. All were in the 1-1.5 lbs range. Every one of those fish hammered my lure and they were all fighters. Had the kids with me and they thought that was the greatest thing they had every seen.
  11. Using Strike King Sexy Frogs.
  12. Supposed to be rainy tomorrow anyways. I'm thinking about trying to get out early and beat the storms.
  13. I don't think a trailer hook would work well for me. Fishing pads and hydrilla that is many times coming up to the water surface. Exactly what I'm talking about.
  14. Colors I have tried yellow, white and black and it makes no difference.
  15. Seems you might need to go home and just stay inside and not touch anything!?
  16. I've been trying to fish with a frog and the problem I am having is almost every time a get a fish to react, it isn't taking it under water. It's as if if it hits it and then nothing. I am not feeling it in fast and I have tried letting the fish just sit after that happens and still nothing. No reaction after I twitch it or start moving it again. The other night this happened close to 10 times. So what are the fish trying to tell me?
  17. We fished Richart lake down by Seymour. We had gone out on Thursday night and we're finding big fish. Not quit the same on Saturday though. I managed 9th, my wife was 11th and step son was 17th. I felt pretty good with this being a new experience and this being our first year bass fishing.
  18. My wife, stepson and I all did it today.
  19. A guy I work with in my new position told me about a location my house to fish so we have been fishing there all week after work. I just fished for an hour and caught 4 with the largest being 18 inches long and weighing 2.3 lbs. Not a bad start to the weekend. Going camping at Monroe this weekend so we will see how that goes. I've heard it is tough fishing.
  20. Checked out a new location for a couple hours with my step son tonight. Being a new location We were trying a few things to see what worked and what didn't. They were hitting on everything. Weightless Senko, Texas rigged worm, Crankbaits, buzz bait. Pretty fun night.
  21. Stayed away from all the lakes and enjoyed some time on the rivers for that very reason.
  22. What typ of knot is best for typing a heavy test braid to a Flourocarbon leader?
  23. He had already pulled me and the kayak a long ways from the tree
