(Un)official Hoosiers Thread

With the new update (which I really like) there is no longer a "friends" function, but now a new "following" function instead. Before the update I was friends with as many of the members who are from or live in Indiana as possible. I attempt to keep up with the local happenings and folks here on the form who are also Hoosiers. They offer relevant fishing information and news of local happenings and goings on. So where are those Hoosier members? I know there are plenty of you on these boards besides me! Feel free to post here with anything going on in the state, and where you guys are whacking those fish at of course! ;)

As for me, I'm from the Central part of the State, West of Indianapolis. Catch most of my fish out of small lakes and creeks by the house, always nice to be within a 5 minute drive of the house! I do get out and about and fish Racoon and Eagle Creek from time to time, although not as often as I'd like anymore. Hopefully that will change next year.

Happy Holidays

Hoosier

100 views in and it looks like the Hoosier guys have abandoned you :) LOL. Same side of town and same basic waters as you, though mostly the area reservoirs.

Didn't even see this thread! Not much happening here in southern Indiana.

Neat. I just wish there were more good places to shop. Gander Mt is ok, Cabela's in Noblesville is nice, but needs a tad more inventory, and all DSG around here blow. Usually have to go to small places an hour or two out of the way to find any decent fishing inventory.

Not a Hoosier, but I do fish Lake Shafer and the Tippecanoe for a few miles north a couple weekends a year. Just wondering if anybody has had much luck there. We generally manage a few small ones but the boat traffic is absolutely brutal.  Try to fish the shorelines and you're getting battered into them by the wake. Only chance is back in the offshoots/coves which generally get a ton of fishing pressure.

Maybe I need to get out there during the week...

Yep, I'm from the Brazil area and the Academy in Terre Haute has been open about a month. Several purchases already made. Have my own private 12 acre lake so if you are close try to contact me. Gathering xmas trees to sink when ice gets on. They have been productive for me the past few years.

Nice! Would love to have my own private water like that!

I grew up in Fairland, Indiana , fished a lot of lakes, creeks and farm ponds as a kid. When I come back home I try to fish Sugar Creek, Big Blue River, or Geist.

Can you wade in the Big Blie River? Also, when you are down that way, they're are some good small lakes/large ponds at camp Aterburry you might try and fish.

I waded it at a park in Shelbyville, but that was a few years ago.

I grew up in Floyds Knobs Indiana, now my wife and I live in warsaw indiana , what a change 4 hrs will give the fishing .  I don't know how many northern Indiana guys are on the site but would love to hear about indiana bass fishing a lot more.

A friend of mine is from Warsaw. He lives in the central part of the state as well. He did say there is some good fishing in Warsaw if I remember correctly.

Live in Fort Wayne, mostly kayak fish but also walk shorelines where I can. On here all the time and am glad I found a local thread, will be following.

Same here! Did catch a couple the day after Christmas on a Lucky Strike STX Jerkbait IMAG00477.thumb.jpg.4179c80fa51965262c3f

Nice one! Looking forward to spring already.

Checking in from just north of Muncie. My goals for the year include:

1. Exploring more of the state. I moved to central Indiana about 8 years ago and I tend to stick close to home (Summit Lake, Mississinnewa Reservoir and Salamonie Reservoir, and the White river). I'd like to hit some of the other waters the state has to offer.

2. Investing in a nice kayak and getting involved in some of the regional kayak fishing tournaments this year.

3. Remaining happily married while doing 1 and 2.

I'm up here in Dyer, which is the northwest top of Indiana.  A lot of local ponds and lakes to fish nearby.   Willow Slough is only an hour south and one of my favorite places to get out on the boat.

Those first two are part of my goals for the year too! We'll see if it happens, but I'd most certainly like some vessel to get out on the water!

Good to hear from you again! Haven't seen much of you on these boards recently, you're also on Indiana Angler, right? I remember seeing some post from you there.
